  1. I personally would have turned the table around and taken offense to that as that imo crosses the line to accuse some one that they're being "discriminatory." Not to mention that patting some one on the head has nothing to do with discrimination. But still, you probably shouldn't fool around with the people in the costumes.
  2. I believe CF gets to keep the liscencing on the paramount parks if they choose to continue with that. The problem is you need to spend money in order to do that, and at this moment in time, SF really doesn't have all that much money to use on fixing up places. Look at this sale as a move in the right direction. I imagine that once SF is financially on track, then Shapiro will crack down on other things. Though there are things that he could do without having to spend too much money, ie making sure the parks are staffed with proper management. I believe that if SFMM had managers that went out of thier way to deliver the best experience they can, the employees themselves will keep up (or risk losing thier job) Simple things such as not talking on the cell phone while working would greatly increase guest satisfaction because then employees would start focusing on the guest more instead of thier friend. And I'm sure such issues would start to decrease if mangers/supervisors who actually cared were put in the proper spots.
  3. ^ possibly, but it would take more then a year to patch the place up. More realistically speaking, they'd have some sort of 10 year plan and slowly do each section of the park at a time but that's assuming that Anhieser Busch would buy the park.
  4. Yea, uhh no... That ride does not push the limits.
  5. Dude thats Uncle Joe Benson! Only one of the greatest radio personalities on the airwaves! http://www.955klos.com/showdj.asp?DJID=27110&pt=UncleJoeBenson not... Though my brother insists he is
  6. Yay for commercials for strip clubs! Anyways, This is pretty intresting, though its funny how they always make a problem that they resolve in 30 minutes sound like the one problem that will ruin the whole project.
  7. Bring on the 3D Dark ride type thingamajig! w00t! But, I just remembered that IOA is only an hour away so that wouldn't make to much sense. Bring on some other kind of dark ride! For you see, imho, it seems like an attraction that would serve BGA well, since well, they don't have one already.
  8. ^ I concur. I think that what Disney is missing is the sort of thinking that the company was pioneered on which was pretty much out of the box thinking and innovation. Even thier rides based off of movies had something that made it different. But now you get rides like MI:M&S which are just regurgitated storylines into ride form with nothing new or impressive. What happened to the old days of Disney where Disney would come up with new concepts and story ideas? It seems to me that the most Disney of all the Disney parks isn't even fully owned by Disney, I'm refferring to, of course TDL Resort. Its seems like the only park, imo, that is consistantly putting out new original material for thier guests and taking the time to spend on quality of an attraction that will last for decades instead of just a quick fix to get as many people through those gates as possible during the next 4 months. The last time Disney got anything new and unique was Indiana Jones. It was amazing how they tied some of the most memorable moments from the movies (Whole temple idea similar to that of Temple of Doom, Boulder at the end from Raiders and the Lost arc, rat sequence similar to the one on Last Cruisade, though I remember it being something more then what it is now which is just a projection onto a smoke screen ) But they still had some pretty impressive scenes intertwined with its own original story. And its this need to innovate and create something new and original, which imo, is what got Disney started and what kept people coming back. Lately, though, everybody at Disney seems to think that its regirgitated storylines and characters from Disney's latest blockbuster that gets people into the park. And it does... to an extent. I think though that in the near future people will grow tired of it. I already have, and I'm sure the GP will grow tired of it, too. It shouldn't be about bringing entertainment that you can pretty much buy on DVD for $20 at you local walmart into the theme parks, it should be about creating a new and unique experience that you can only find at the disney theme park. I don't want to pay $80 for entry into a park to experience wait in line for 30 minutes to experience what I could have experienced for free (after purchase of course) at home with no waiting. Disney needs to get back to innovating, not copying and pasting. /rant
  9. The general public are not all idiots, but granted they are out there and they always make themselves known. I work at a movie theater, and grant it, it's not the same as a theme park the the idea around its operation or sort of similar. My favorite is the guest that over-reacts. For example the other day there was something wrong with our diet coke, and some woman started complaining at me about how I almost sent her diabetic mother to the hospital, bla bla bla, and said how I gave her sugar water. (I find this unlikely though because while I'm filling up soda's I ALWAYS double check to make sure that I have the right soda to make sure A) I didn't mishear what they said and B) in case they change thier mind or want more/less ice bla bla bla. There's also the chance she said coke and I gave her... coke which would mean that it would have been her fault, but to be honest I have know idea what happened when I was getting this persons food because almost everything is a blur since its just the same old routine, the only things that really stand out are the people's personalities when I'm getting thier food. So anyways she was screaming at me and at first I felt pretty bad and apologized and asked if there was anything I could do. Well she said an apology wouldn't cut it, and I was thinking what the hell am I suppose to do? Sacrifice myself to the god's? And anyways after listening carefully and apologizing a couple more times she slammed her cup in my face and stormed off to complain at a manager. Now I was pretty pissed off about this whole thing the rest of the night do to how rude she treated me, and I think in general you'll always have to deal with people who will be a complete dick to you regardless of how you treat them and try to help them out. I'm sure you'll find this at an amusement park, and you should expect it. I guess its just that some people aren't ever happy even if you try to resolve the problem. But having said that, while it may make me mad that people do that, I don't think it makes me like or hate my job any less. I hate dealing with some people, but love dealing with others. I also have to say that working at the theater has no negative effects to my decision of wanting to go to a movie there. I enjoy going to that theater, and I plan to keep going there even after I eventually leave the place, and mind you the theater is much smaller so everybody will recognize you, which is not necessarily the case at an amusement park in which you might meet some one everyday. But really, all in all, I think it is what you make of it. I use my experience from working at theater to put my spin on the topic because that’s my only real experience within the area, and I can see how people can make a career out of it. But you also have to allow yourself into a place that you can make a good career out of. I mean you could work at just any old park and make a decent living, but you could also work for a park like something Disney or Universal operates and you will probably find that there are much more jobs with better benefits available. If you are seriously looking into a career within a theme park, I say go for it, but just have a specific goal in mind and go for it. I don't think there's really anything bad with that at all, and you can still be very successful if you allow yourself those possibilities.
  10. My favorite is when they're jibbering on the cell phone in spanish while you are trying to buy some food from them. But that was not at SFMM. But agreed, why can't the people who are suppose to be in charge actually take charge? And as far as Psyclone is concerned, some lighter weight trains (IE Millennium Flyers) would do the track some good. Maybe in the future.
  11. Sounds great to me! Also, I didn't see any links to the direct source of the article, so here it is. http://www.miceage.com/allutz/al112806a.htm
  12. aslinterpreter, how tall are you by the way? Or is it just that the japanese are very short, and as a result structures such as doorways just aren't built as tall as they are in the US?
  13. ^ your mom has issues Burned! Anyways, I'll probably watch it. After all, Tatsu is so freaking kewl.
  14. Yea.... no. I don't think there's anything wrong with it and I've been riding that thing since it first opened.
  15. Not to mention that it probably won't appear at a park till the 2008 season, otherwise I'm sure some one would have reported construction fences at MIA, or something.
  16. Eh, BGE can afford to not be very original with this one. I mean they made freaking Darkastle. That along with all the other coasters and this promising, though not very original, B&M will make this park a must visit place.
  17. Alas, that is what makes me most upset with CF is thier lack of theming/design sense. If they had put a little more effort into the atmosphere of the park, I'm sure Knotts would be a far better place that how it stands currently. Along with offering incentives for non-high school kids to work at knotts.
  18. Yea, CP's has been on sale for quite awhile now, so if that hasn't sold, I don't understand why SFMM would be such a hot property.
  19. ^ Yea, that's pretty much all I remember, as well. ^^SO with that being said, it's likely that all of the reasons you mention were a major cause into what ultimately lead to the cancelation of the show. But I think a fantastic water/laser show may go on the lake in the future.
  20. Wow, sucks that you got food poisoning. But hey, it made a great story to tell everyone on the internet.
  21. WEll, all the parks that are going out of business I had no plans on visiting anyways. As far as I'm concerned, I would rather spend my money at a qaulity amusement/theme park so its no skin off my back.
  22. Wow, that time of the year already? This project has really made me realize how fast the year has gone by. Anyways, it looks pretty good. WE shall see how it compares to last year.
  23. They're getting an incredible hulk! It's pretty much a very condensed US with some IOA thrown in it. I have to say I'm jealous. THey should just completely redo USH and make it good.
  24. My left arm made it into the TR! lol, anyways, yea, it was cool meeting you guys at knotts, it was very unexpected...
  25. You should upload your next comic on a different page. The first page takes a little while to load since you have so many posted. Anyways, keep up the good work.
