Gnome replied to griffon's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
This looks like such a beautiful park. One of many parks on the TO do list, though definately near the top. -

Not so sure about Robb.... -
Nope. Knotts was relocated to Silverwood, so the original is still around.

Your least favorite Walt Disney World ride and why
Gnome replied to a topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
SUre it made sense. Take a scary special effects attraction and turn it into a fun little attraction that mianly smalle children would enjoy. I personally think the worst ride there has to be Primeval World. And I don't think its really the ride experience that I dislike, but rather the fact that Disney just flopped out a piece of crap extension to an area, and called it a day. I mean really, when you're walking through the fun fair area of Dinoland USA, you almost expect there to be puke everywhere since the area is so crappy to begin with. -
So for one of the classes I'm in, we were all put into a group of 2 and were then required to come up with an idea for a horror movie with no audible diolugue. While I left the one line in for the site, the "final" version has been edited out. As for how did I come up with the name? I din't know what to call it then the show at Halloween Haunt popped into my head so i thought it was some what fitting. Enjoy. HAX.wmv

Man shot at Universal Orlando's parking lot
Gnome replied to BarryH's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ that doesn't bother me. They can't pick from the crowd who the criminals are, so just scan them all. They also cuts out the whole "racially profiling" thing. If everyone has to do it then no one can argue. -

Apollo's chariot pumping on first drop?
Gnome replied to jmccalip's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Usually when it gets towards the end of the season all coaster cars start to do this. For example Silver Bullet's trains go into the annual full inspection re-hab, and when they come back its as smooth as heck because they re-adjusted everything, and nothing is partially loose. But when you get towards October, there is a lot of shuffling on the track and other vibrations. So its not really because of age, but more because its been awhile since all the parts of the trains were tightened up. -
Apollo's chariot pumping on first drop?
Gnome replied to jmccalip's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm telling you, it does. As for appollo's chariet, I don't think that has a pump. If the radius of the pullout differed that would be considered a pump, but just because there is a strait piece of track between the pull out and the pullup does not mean that it pumps. -

They must have not been very good computers then, because they do pump. Although its possible the "pumping" on Ninja is more as a result of the swinging of the car, which I guess would have the inconsistant forces do to the free banking instead of the controlled banking which other rides have. But Jaguar does have it. -
Could that mean steaper ascension in the future?

Pumping is irregularities within the radius of the track. Usually when the track shifts in in radius the cars tend to create a "pumping" motion, which is where it gets the name "pumping" from. Actually, the pump free-ness of todays modern rides are mainly a result of todays computer designed attractions. Most attractions 80's years old do have pumping though, you can feel it. And I believe that most "non pumping" attractions today are a result of companies keeping forces consistant rather then trying to make sure that the track does not pumps, where as you make it sound like thier goal is to make sure that it does not pump for some visual style or effect that they're going for... ANyways... Almost all rides that came out pre-computer calculated tracks do pump. For example if you go on a ride like Ninja at SFMM or Jaguar at knotts, as well as many others besides those two, you can feel the track pump. The force dramatically changes from one to another and is not very consistant, where as on a B&M or an Intamin you'll notice that the forces do no fluctuate drastically but rather happen more fluidly. -
I never did bombay as I had a big fear of hights, and there was no way I was going to be dropped onto the slide. I did do the slie right next to it though. Fun! To bad its not there anymore.

I believe the lot between JP and TL is larger then the lot between JP and Unicorn. I kind of would have rather seen ET left in its place or Spiderman, though I think Spider-man would probably have been to large to fit in its allotted spot and as a result, would be dimmed down and not as exiting just like USH's Mummy. Also, I think that its possible the jeep attraction might come. Maybe thats why the JPRA doesn't quite have all the different scenes that hollywood's has because they had possibly planned for those scenes to go elsewhere?
