  1. I kinda expected Dragster to be a bit taller, but either way, you did an excellent job! Keep up the good work! And about the whoops comment, I asked a question that someone else already asked. PS: I can't wait to see the finished Insane model.
  2. ^I agree that some of the pictures do look a bit rushed, and I'm thinking about fixing them later. And thanks for the comments everybody! I'm still coming along with the third project and will get it posted ASAP!
  3. Excellent, excellent job on those. I can't wait to see the finished Insane and TTD models. Edit: Whoops! I wasn't paying attention!
  4. I doubt CP will remove any of its coasters anytime soon. Yes, but Tony Hawk isn't really considered a "major" coaster. As I look into my magical Dippin Dots cup, I've discovered something new. -Current Industry Trends- B&Ms are still popular despite the failing world economy. There are fewer B&Ms being built though. B&M Dive Machines and B&M Hypers seem to be a major trend with at least one DM being built per year. One hyper is also being added per year but this may slow down as CF may stop buying hypers. Intamins aren't as popular as they were a couple years ago. I can only think of four Intamins opening this year. Jet Rescue (Aquatrax), Dream of Meditteranean (Mega-Lite), iSpeed (Rocket), and the ZacSpin going to Grona Lund. Gerstlauer Eurofighters are becoming more and more popular because of their size and the thrills they produce. Woodies have always remained popular. Three GCI woodies and two GG woodies are opening this year. Expect to see a few more parks asking for wood coasters within the next few years. I unfortunately don't see many more pre-fabs though. Six Flags: If SF survives this year, expect more ride rehabs in the future. SFA probably won't recieve anything major, but they will make a "big" announcement sometime. Busch: Manta's success may bring a flyer to Williamsburg. I'd rather see more flats or even a Schwarzkopf clone, although I don't see this in the future. Cedar Fair: It seems that Carowinds may be getting the long rumored hyper so CGA is the only former Paramount Park without a new major coaster. KBF may lose some more charm and add more trash cans. And a water ride does not seem out of the question for CP.
  5. I could be imagining things, but I swear you've already posted the Kennywood, EG, and KD brochures in this thread somewhere. Other than that, keep up the awesome work!
  6. OH... MY... GAWD.... That is one of the best-looking coaster's I've ever seen. Those low to the ground transitions look INSANE! And I love the way the ride interacts with the buildings. PS: I don't think the non-inverting loop looks THAT scary.
  7. LAWL! That was probably the funniest thing I've read all day. That "interview" reminds me of those Six Flags commercials from the 90s claiming they were better than Disneyland.
  8. Everland -- T-Express One of my lifelong dreams is to ride an Intamin prefab and this seems to be the best of all the ones built so far.
  9. I still can't believe Six Flags is desperate enough to actually offer haircuts as a way of making money. Does anybody else here find this kinda creepy? An overly happy old guy greeting children seems kinda scary.
  10. ^ Judging by your sig, I'm assuming that you're being serious http://www.intaminworldwide.com/iag/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=18&Itemid=33 Here you go. That's why everyboy thinks Maverick is an Aquatrax.
  11. WOW! The new slide looks awesome! I'm actually surprised that SFStL is getting all these expansions in such a short time period. Especially since traditionally SFStL doesn't recieve new rides very often and it's not one of the major flagship parks.
  12. ^ AQUATRAX is made by Intamin. BTW, I checked my magic Dippin Dots cup and discovered a yellow-colored B&M going to....... a theme park somewhere.
  13. Lets see... 1991 - All the rides at Disneyland - Too young 1995 - All the rides at PCW - too chicken 2000 - All the rides at SFA - too chicken 2003 - All the rides at PKD (except Grizzly) - too chicken So basically I was a HUGE chicken.
  14. That wouldn't be possible simply because WOF and KD would be owned by different companies. Unless the company that bought WOF decides to sell off all the rides and close the park that could not happen. BTW, KD already HAS an invert and there's a B&M invert one hour south of the park.
  15. I remember seeing those Sheriff/Outlaw trains back in my newbie enthusiast days and thinking they were awesome. I still think they're the best looking wooden coaster trains ever.
  16. 1. Slow load times. 2. Standing in very hot lines for an extended period of time. 3. Overpriced food (that's why I bring my own) 4. Obnoxious tween groups 5. Smokers smoking in non-designated areas 6. Over-screaming - basically these are people who scream until their faces turn blue on rides. Screaming is OK on rides, but screams that are louder than jets taking off really bugs me. 7. Line jumpers (although I haven't really experienced any) That's all for now.
  17. The new area is really looking awesome! Even though I'd rather see a nice large flat ride (preferably German, but I don't see this comiing anytime soon), the new area looks better than I originally expected.
  18. Since my original topic got merged, I'll include a title in bold, bright, colorful letters in order to distinguish my posts from everybody else's. Dan N's Theme Park Artwork Part 2 Thanks for the comments everybody. I'll definitely consider selling my artwork once I get my name out there. Today's series of pictures comes from the fictional town of Swiss Falls Michigan and their family amusement park, Cheddar Beach. The park itself is run by the city and is funded through tax money as well as tourist money. This year, the park is building a western themed coaster called Outlaw. It features a 65 mph launch into a top hat, a large amount of interaction with guests in line as well as interaction with theming. If anybody has any questions, please see my FAQ on the previous page first. And on to the pictures... This is a teaser shot for my next update, which will hopefully be soon. Because everybody seems to like Shaft, You can see both Shaft's train as well as Air Raid's train in this picture. Dive Machines are very sexy. The coaster's logo. I hope you enjoyed my first fictional PTR. 3 Intamins in one shot!!! The park seems oddly familiar. One of the low-to the ground turns. The coaster in the background is X-Scream (2004). Can you guess what this park is based off of? Outlaw through the theming. The B&M is Steel Eagle (1999) and the Intamin is Millennium Dragon (2000). A Screamin Swing and an S&S Combo Tower can be seen in this picture. One of the ride's elements from a backstage area. Taken with permission of course. A picture of the station, it's still under construction. A picture of the launch track overlooking the lake. The rocks provide a barrier as well as a theme. The coaster's entrance, note the signs haven't been put into place yet. The sign greeting visitors - There is a teaser for the new ride on the left side of the sign. Outlaw with Millennium Dragon in the background. The ride seems to have a more extensive theme than another coaster located in Ohio. EDIT, I forgot to add this picture.
  19. Dan's Theme Park Artwork 1st Artwork Related Post Ever!! Become a fan on Facebook! This isn't the only artwork-related post I have. I've got more content including new coasters and parks on the next couple pages. I plan on creating a new thread featuring my artwork later this year... If you want to see more, check the rest of it out. - Dan * New TPR artist * Nguyen ------------------- Hello! My name is Dan. I'll start with the FAQ first. 1. Did you draw that? Yes 2. How long does it take you to do these? It depends on the size and the eleborate-ness (is that even a word?) of the picture. Most pictures take around 30 minutes to do, but I've created a picture that took about a week to finish. 3. Do you have a life? No, not really. 4. Are theme parks and roller coasters ALL you draw? I also draw cities and towns as well, but I prefer theme parks. 5. Are these parks real or fake? All these parks are completely fictional unless I say so. 6. Can you teach me how to draw? I'm not a very good teacher. I can give tips on improving your drawing skills though. 7. Can you make me something? Not right now. I'm thinking about selling my pictures online though sometime in the future. 8. Where do you get your inspiration? PTRs, POVs, visiting actual parks, and RCT. 9. Do you play RCT? Yes, although my RCT parks aren't as good as a lot of parks that members post here. I don't have RCT installed on my computer right now, so I can't really play it anyway. 10. Why isn't RCT installed on your computer? Because my computer's lame and won't let me install anything. What do you want to be when you grow up? I really want to design roller coasters, but the chances of me landing a job in the industry are slim to none. I've considered becoming an architect/engineer, but my math skills aren't that great (even though I'm part Asian). My parents want me to become a doctor (what parents don't want their kids to become doctors/lawyers) but I'm pretty clumsy and I doubt anybody wants somebody like me treating them. I was also thinking about becoming an artist, but my parents told me artists don't make much money. I'm considering going into graphics design so I can do something I enjoy and get paid for it. I promised everybody pictures so here they are... The dive machine is named after the vertical drop coaster in South Africa. I originally thought it was named Shaft of Terror and it was built by B&M. This park has multiple themed lands. The Intamin in the background is Air Raid, America's first Mega-Lite. This is Geyser Mountain. I got the name from an actual Disney concept, which featured a ToT-style ride themed to a geyser. A POV shot of one of the outdoor portions on the ride. The castle in the distance is bigger than the one in CA. A picture of the actual ride. It is a combination of Indy, Journey to the Center of the Earth, and test Track. There are two Hidden Mickeys in this picture. Temp.bmp The logo for the first ride I'll post. It doesn't look like much.
  20. I always thought going into medical labs and beating down on company computers was PETA's number 1 priority. Not to mention PETA protesters throw blood on people that wear fur. They use scare tactics (like comparing animal cruelty to the KKK and the Holocaust) to convince people to go vegetarian/vegan. http://www.petakillsanimals.com/ A pretty informative site on PETA's actions.
  21. Williamsburg VA Busch Gardens - 5 min VA Beach Motor World - 1 hour (depending on traffic) King's Dominion - 1 hour I'm currently stuck with going to Busch simply because its closer. I really want to visit KD sometine this season, but I doubt I'll be able to go.
  22. SFGAdv built two major coasters during the 2005-2006 season. Kingda Ka - Intamin Strata El Toro - Intamin PnP SFMM is building a major coaster this year and planning a coaster next year. Terminator - GCI 2010's new ride - ??? I predict something a major attraction for SFMM next year. I also predict two major coasters for SFGAm within (at least) the next 10 years. Anybody also notice... 2006 - SFOG added Goliath (B&M hyper) 2008 - SFSTl added Evel Knievel (GCI) SFOT is the only original Six Flags park that hasn't recieved anything major within the past few years. I predict a major coaster for SFOT within the next few years.
  23. ^IIRC, Hersheypark released a Fahrenheit concept that looked like it was drawn poorly on a napkin. Of course a lot of people thought the concept was fake because it looked like it was poorly drawn. You guys caught me. The concepts that I posted WERE fakes. The coaster is basically a concept for a B&M sitdown that I made up for a theme park in Nashville, Tennessee (because I have no life). I'm always trying to perfect my artwork in order to make it look more realistic. I would love it if you gave me some tips on how to perfect my artwork. I'm just gonna release the rest of the pictures. Gosh I need to get a life, FAST. What roller coaster is this ride based on again? I was actually inspired by Shane's Opryland thread as well as that Orleans Boardwalk RCT3 scenario.
  24. They compared the conditions that chickens have to face when they're being raised for food to the Holocaust, so I wouldn't be surprised if 9/11 somehow gets into a future ad campaign. Overall, the intentions of PETA are good, but the way they try to convince people to join their side is a complete joke. The fact that they throw blood (that probably came from the animals that they are trying to protect) on people and the fact that they try to convince people to go vegetarian in order to "protect" the animals makes them a terrorist organization IMO. They also fail to realize that plants surprisingly can feel pain as well as animals can. They just cannot express it because they're plants. So basically PETA is a terrorist organization that secretly kills animals and wants to do harm to plants for their own benefit.
  25. OMG! Does this mean that Happy Valley is really getting an Intamin PnP, not a GG woodie? On a more serious note, you'd think that Happy Valley would at least spend the extra time to edit Ka out of the picture.
