When there is someone in the water, stopping the pumps won't make the water disperse and settle at a moments notice, there is still all the water from the top draining down. The purpose of stopping the pumps is so that they don't get sucked into the grates outside of the pump house and drowned. At that point the person who have to be shepards hooked out or bouyed or something, but hitting the e stop is just so they don't get sucked into the pumps or to have to fight any additional water.

Matt Does West Coast 2009: Final Update!
themeparkman25 replied to Speeddeamon128's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
How does Riddler compare to other stand ups you have ridden? Great to see you finally made it out to the west coast Matt! -
^^But when you hit the e stop on raft rides (at leas the one I am most familiar with at Elitches) the pumps drop out and all the water on top of the course comes down to the bottom. Yes there is a big spill tank where the water goes, but it also utilizes the canyon for water as well. I would imagine that at the condition of this video, the pumps were no longer pumping water and the ride was already in e stop mode.

^Night rides on Prowler are awesome, you definitely need to check that out. In regards to Timberwolf though, that definitely game some wicked air time for me when I sent in June. Like so much airtime the seat belt would be floating next to you. Did you ride in the front or back, cause the front is way better and way smoother. -
Oaks Park Zip (NL)

Positives: -Originality. This was definitely a unique ride in the sense that it behaved like a steel coaster but was made of wood. When I said behaved like a steel coaster I really am emphasizing the first hill where arguably you are somewhat inverted. Still cool though. -The tunnel. It has been awhile since I have been to SCBB, but this was cool in that it did what that classic did. Negatives: -Forces. Watch those forces always! Coming out of the second hill into that tunnel, I had a quick red lat burst which would be no fun. -Pacing. It just seemed to stall on top of many of the hills and the station fly by, would have been more fun if it was a little faster. Overall this wasn't half bad of a coaster by any means. It could use a little lovin' in places but besides that it was fun. Keep up the good work. -
Should be pretty awesome, I am definitely looking forward to this. However, that press release was practically nothing since all that information (for the most part) was already known. They also seemed to not release to much on the Forbidden Journey itself, outside of just saying it is one-of-a-kind. Regardless, this will definitely draw people into the park as even the GP knows Hogwarts is being built. Without doubt it will be good to see this project continue and watch that section of the park transform. Dueling Dragons should be cool if they get even further themed and lets be real here, Hogwarts looks awesome. When do the Dragons go down (or have they) for their transformation? Coolest thing though, remote controlled snitches. That is pretty awesome!

The "Preview" Thread

^It is the pulley system found on Intamin coasters. The most notorious, at least to me, is that of MF. DC Heat literally created it perfectly with the real one, found here. You got a knack kid, that is some fine work right there. -
Which is worse, Arrow or Vekoma?

Steve Irwin is having is revenge, the concept (so far) is a flop and doesn't work/isn't operating at this time. At least according to Robb a few days ago. >>Too soon? -

themeparkman25 replied to MLRC7 CP's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^But that didn't have to do with the roughness of the coaster, that was a design flaw in the weight of the trains and the undersupporting of the track. With that, I don't know if that is a valid reason ahaha. -

I guess the two of you are right, I really don't see any other options out there besides simultaneous lifting. Still though, that will be no easy feat, that is definitely a heavy piece of metal and to get multiple cranes to lift with the precision to have it sit exactly where needed will be difficult. Oh well, its still an intamin giga coaster and it is going to be awesome. -
^ and ^^ Forget about the park, am I the only one fascinate with the Vekoma trains? Seriously, I think this is revolutionary. The park looks great though, and I cannot wait to see test runs on BG, the two styled dueling coasters makes for a very interesting story. Are we still expecting an on time opening with this park? Definitely seems more feasible now then it did a couple months ago.

See I would disagree with that. I rather enjoy sitting back and enjoying the coaster for what it is worth, meaning sitting back and "relaxing". I don't think it is the riders responsibility to ride defensively especially when they don't necessarily know what they are getting in to. Moral of the story: Coasters should be fun and the rider should be focusing on that, not on how to prevent their ears from bleeding. -

Amen to that! -
^No way! I love Hulk and all, but tire launch just seems so last decade! They would have to go with LIM/LSM technology for sure, at least IMO. Again, I don't think we will see anything like a B&M launch until the technology becomes fool proof. I think the technology is still a couple years out, but either way I am all for it. In regards to the B&M woodie, I don't know how I feel about that. In that case I would probably say, stick with what they know best, steel. Follow this link for that discussion.

That map is depressing! It is so naked. I have never attended the halloween event at either BG park, but I imagine they are awesome. -
I know at some point someone is going to say, I thought about that for awhile, and though B&M does stick with usually tried designs; the invert, the flying, the floorless and the drop machine were all untried before they were introduced and all of those turned out to be successful. I think they issue B&M probably has is the reliability of launches. It just seems like every launched coaster has some form of issues that hinder complete operation, or it just explodes and wont move (Ring sitter). Until the technology significantly improves, I doubt we will see it.

^Ya, but think about the big gap between the first and second yellow support structure. Lifting all those massive pieces 305 feet in the air cannot be easy. The only way I can think that they will do it is like for the St Louis Arch, where they build equally from both sides and then fit the top piece in to complete the arch and properly support the structure. -
