The Official TPR Video Thread!

That looked really smooth...and fun! Two words from my childhood that never accompanied the word Togo. -
Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread

Great decision! It has been getting bad over there for years. No real direction creatively. We've jokingly referred to it as the "No Action Zone" for a while now. Love the whole Bat refurb. Can you imagine how all of this is going to change the Haunt for the better? R.I.P. FLIGHT DECK...THANK GOD!! -
If you owned your own theme park
Hockeydad replied to martinb's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
- Clean bathrooms that are plentiful - Shaded benches - Reasonably priced food - Employees who give a crap - Great rides with an equally great waterpark ...oh wait...I just asked for Holiday World. -
Your favorite coaster tunnel

Hades is up there...but Voyager's triple-down is just crazy to me! -
What was your favorite ride of 2013?
Hockeydad replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I only added two new coasters this year: Gatekeeper & Wild Eagle. Gatekeeper was my favorite of the two, but Wild Eagle deserves some credit for the steel eagle sculpture and station...what amazing workmanship. -
Six Flags Mexico (SFM) Discussion Thread
Hockeydad replied to zburns999's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That's going to be a beautiful coaster! Too bad it's in Mexico...but then again we have a RM coaster coming to Illinois too. -
It may be controversial to some, but I let Raven, Legend, Voyage and Thunderhead drop substantially this year. I looked so forward to getting back to DW this season, and TH was one of those reasons. It was downright violent to me this time around. I don't know what was up this year with HW's three, but they also were a lot more than I could handle personally. Legend was the most rideable, followed by Raven, then Voyage. Voyage was down for repairs most of the day, plus rain. Maybe it was the still wet track that made it so different...I don't know. I'm not a waterpark person, but I really enjoyed Splashin' Safari a lot...and it poured rain almost all day long. But my ten year old was who I really felt bad for since he waited forever to ride Voyage, and then came off crying from being beaten around. It hasn't broken his spirit though...he still talks about coasters constantly.

Strangest layouts
Hockeydad replied to Her0ofLime's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I would say the Beast has got a pretty strange/unique layout. Granted most of that was from it being designed around it's very hilly terrain, but still pretty strange to me. -
Best Gravity Group Woodie
Hockeydad replied to djboss302's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Before this summer I would have said Voyage...hands down. But I would honestly have to say that now it would be Hades, (the non-360 version), followed by Ravine Flyer II. This year when we visited HW the Voyage was so rough it single-handedly ended my riding for the rest of the day. Something Voyage had never done to me before. -

Unfreakin' believeable! I was hurting just watching. I know a lot of countries are lenient on these type things...but that's crazy! -
What Rides Scares the Crud Out Of You?
Hockeydad replied to EuroTre's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Riding Greezed Lightnin' @ SFKK one time we were running the loop on the return trip and I came up out of my seat and the lap bar hit me about four inches above the knees. I felt like I was going to fall out!...I'm pretty sure soiled myself a little! -
You Might Be A Coaster Nerd If....
Hockeydad replied to PCW_Nut's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
You have a dvd folder especially for your TPR Coaster Expedition discs...complete with stickers on the outside that say phrases like, "Pound it!", "Smooth as a babies bottom" and "Welcome to Ghetto Disney". -

What do YOU take with you to a park?
Hockeydad replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
- Wallet - Keys - Phone - Travel size Aleve, (mainly for the spinning flats my kids take me on). - Mini bottle of sunscreen, (for my face and neck...'cause I just burn, baby!) -
Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread
Hockeydad replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I would agree with that. I rode Kraken the first time in October 2001 and it was so smooth, then rode it again in March 2012...and it wasn't bad, but it was rougher than I remember. -
Your First Schwarzkopf Coaster?
Hockeydad replied to SingleRiderCam's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I thought I only had two under my belt but after going to rcdb I actually have Whizzer, Greezed Lightnin', Wildcat and King Kobra. -
Weird/ Out of place coasters
Hockeydad replied to nhman93's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
For whatever reason, the first thing I thought of was just about every coaster at Mt. Olympus. Hollywood, Rip, Ride, Rockit is another one. That coaster is crammed in that park in so many different directions it's uncomfortable. -
What will be the FIRST coaster you ride in 2013?
Hockeydad replied to Wes's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
We haven't made a final decision yet, but we'll probably end up at either SFOG or Mall Of America. I'm hoping for either Dare Devil Drop or Rock Bottom Plunge depending on where we end up. -
The "Pleasant/Unpleasant Surprise" Thread
Hockeydad replied to cfc's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Pleasant: Losr Coaster Of Superstition Mountain - Indiana Beach This coaster was just goofy fun...everything about how this coaster moved was just crazy. I can't remember another I laughed so much on a ride. Unpleasant: Hollywood Rip Ride Rockit - Universal Studios Orlando I looked so forward to riding this coaster, and it was just such a disapointment. The whole pick you own tunes thing was cool, (I picked the Beastie Boys "Sabotage"). But the ride was pretty rough in a lot of spots, and it seemed lose a lot of speed in other spots. The queing was terrible too. -
The BEST roller coaster view EVER???
Hockeydad replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Beautiful view! Kind of reminds me of the view from RF2 at Waldameer, (except the water looks a lot cleaner!). -
They've got a really good head start on the waterpark already with what was already there. SFKK put a lot into that waterpark the last few years, (esp. with Deluge...what a great ride!). I hope they do include Blizzard River into the waterpark as well. Timberliners might do wonders for a pretty mediocre coaster like the twins. As long as they keep Thunder Run & Greezed Lightnin' around I'm happy. Are T2 & the Proslide Tornado still around? Please get rid of the go-karts! Don't forget there is also land behind T2, (the old Batman stunt show arena where they've hosted concerts/wrestling over the years) unless they still have plans to host events back there.
