I really do like this idea. And I believe if there is anyone out their with industry experience that can make this happen...it's Holiday World. They have always (IMO) been very careful with big decisions involving HW, they don't just plop down a ride just to say they added another attraction. Best to them!

The trims are the worst part of the Beast anymore. Even non-enthusiasts have told me the brakes ruin the ride completely. I also think the ride has lost some serious speed off the first drop on that left curve into the second drop where they rebuilt that whole curve a few years ago. I'm thankful that Firehawk runs both stations pretty consistenly at King's Island. When it was X-Flight at Six Flags Worlds Of Adventure / Geauga Lake I visited that park 8-10 times and don't remember them ever having that second station open. They'd run both trains through one station, but never seemed to open both stations. Plus, the team up there was always horrid, KI has always done a stellar job with Firehawk's operations.

Theme Park Review in JAPAN! 2011
Hockeydad replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That looks incredible! Are you kidding me...meat skewers and bacon-wrapped cheese, I'm ready to move right now! -
Thanks so much osm! I have a couple more questions if you or anybody else has the time. 1. Does anybody know for sure of any places who are offering any good deals/coupons on admission? I've heard that everybody from McD's, Wendy's, Coke and Wawa's has done things in the past. 2. Are the meal vouchers really a good deal? They seem really overpriced, (even by Six Flags standards).

What is the best way to do SFGAdv? Where should we start? Are there any non-coaster rides worth hitting? And lastly, is it possible to do the majority of this park in a day without a flash pass?

TPR's Official Australia Trip Update Thread!

Australia's parks look like a blast. WBMP was awesome, but Australia Zoo seems great too. I miss Steve Irwin...all others are just pretenders to his throne. -

I'd never really looked much at WBMW before...what an awesome looking park! "Looks like the Redneck Batman dog." Better theming than I expected really. -
Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread
Hockeydad replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I agree, the upcharge will probably steer some people away, even at just $5.00. But I like the idea personally, and my seven year old will probably still enjoy it, (for this season anyway). I think it would be a great benefit to KI to advertise this to local schools, (I'm sure they probably already have actually). You know that KI will make this attraction look good too. The landscaping and design will be excellent, it won't look like some "Dinosaur-walk roadside attraction like they had in the 70's. Kudos to KI for this one, (just really think about dropping the upcharge asap). -

Thanks for another great report Erik. I always look forward to the "Oddventures" from you two. -
What are you thankful for...

1. Theme Park Review 2. Being located in an area of the country with so many great parks within a few hours, (KI, CP, HW, Indiana Beach, SFGAm, Kennywood and other greats). 3. Disneyworld! Only 7 more months until were arrive. 4. My coaster buddy being my daughter...she's following in daddies footsteps! -
The State Fairgrounds seems to be in the mood to give out money these days...they just announced on the radio up here this morning that they will be opening the KFC Yum Arena, (yes, you are reading that right! ), next month at a cost of $238 million. Hopefully, they still have enough left to give Ed Hart the $50 mill. he's needing.

Mystery USA GCI Project?

I'm going with Six Flags Over Georgia because they could use a woodie that doesn't beat half to death...plus, I may be going there next season. -
Parks Coasters and Rides in Movies and TV
Hockeydad replied to spike's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Wow, I can't believe it took until page 6 to have a mention of KISS Meets the Phantom of the Park. But this is coming from a guy who still owns the original VHS of the movie. About the Banana Splits show: The amusement park clips were filmed at Coney Island (Cincinnati) & Six Flags Over Texas. I got interested in it one day while watching the show on Boomerang. They list the parks in the credits at the end. -
I am so glad Speed:The Ride is back, (I actually, for whatever reason thought it had been torn down). Now I have another chance to get out there and ride it, on the other hand, Manhattan Express...not so much!

Most Dangerous Amusement Park Attractions
Hockeydad replied to Hockeydad's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The double-decker carousel at NASCAR Speedpark (Sevierville, TN) really needs some waist straps. On the second level they have mini-cycles that do wheelies...one kid, not ours thankfully, fell right off the bike in mid-wheelie! He was alright...so yes, I did laugh! Seriously though, I never thought about any of this until Thrillrider brought it up. -
Found this on the front page of my Road Runner News this morning. Understand that these people are considering white water rafting an amusement park attraction or having a photo of a family riding a viking ship under the roller coaster incident. Anyway, while many of the stories they quote are stories that most of us can recall in recent years, they are pretty off in how they are classifying a lot of these attractions.
