  1. I've heard the horror stories about Herc...glad Hydra got it's revenge!
  2. This is really the easiest way for me to give my reply. Chad's Top Tenswww.freewebs.com/chadmicah/mytoptens.htm
  3. Most recently, it would have to be the coasters at Kennywood. I fully expected to be tossed around a bit, (Heck, I know the reputations of their coasters!). And I liked Thunderbolt, Jack Rabbit, and the Racer, but nothing could prepare us for the beating we received from Phantom's Revenge & Exterminator. Phantom's Revenge was so pleasureable for the first half, but that ride did a total 180 on the second half, (following the awesome 85mph turnaround). We tried to be ready for the series of smaller bunny hops at the end, but we felt like we were being broken in half each time we went over one. And we weren't the only ones, grunts and yells of pain could be heard elsewhere on the train too. Exterminator was a big "Duh!" on our parts. Let's see, a spinning wild mouse...sometimes excruciating on it's own. Now let's take away the one thing that helps you prepare for what the ride will do to you...Daylight, (or light of any type! ). So, if I expected all that happened to happen, why did I ride in the first place? I'm an enthusiast! I need my credits! Will I ride them again? Yeah, I'm a glutton for punishment that way!
  4. It's a shame. I really do want to get down to this park, as well as, Myrtle Beach...but seeing as how we already went to WDW 3 months ago it probably won't be happening. And next season...I'd be shocked to see this park re-open for next season. And I hate that it isn't working out down there, it really is such a nicely themed park. I have a friend from Columbia, SC who went there with his wife a few weeks back and said he guessed there was probably 4-5 thousand people there the day they went. But seriously, that number doesn't mean much as a whole, when every other day looks like the day you were there Natalie. My friends love getting down to the ocean as much as possible, and said Family Kingdom always seems to have a consistently larger crowd there. It makes me wonder about a couple of questions going through my mind. 1) Did the people of Myrtle Beach ever support this project like HRP/FMP want us to believe? 2) Were they completely satisfied with the Pavillion/Family Kingdom? Something tells me those questions will be answered once and for all by the end of this season!
  5. Because of our financial situation this year we were planning to go to some of the smaller parks around our region and pick up some harder to reach credits when we discovered this... www.funspotpark.com I hope it's just for this season, I've always wanted to see this little park!
  6. WA is a really nice looking park, (with great theming to boot!). We were just through Valdosta on our way to WDW, and now I wish I would've planned better. Looks like there will be plenty of whoring for me, and lots of good credits for my five year old too. Well, next time we drive down for USO/IOA we'll try and hit it. Thanks for the great TR Erik!
  7. I feel really sad now that we didn't go to this park a couple of years ago when we had the chance. With our trip to Disney having already passed, and finances being tight we won't be able to make it over there any time soon. Hopefully, maybe they'll manage to survive, or be bought by in the near future. Great little park though...and a great TR too.
  8. It was also featured in a Hollywood blockbuster called "Rollercoaster" with George Segal and Timothy Bottoms who played the mad bomber of roller coasters nationwide, (and who did look a lot like a young George W. Bush!).
  9. Since you're going to be hitting Knoebel's and staying by Dutch Wonderland why not hit Hershey or Dorney? I haven't been to DW yet, but from seeing their site several times isn't it more geared for younger children than adults? About the trade-off...your parks for her shopping. I totally understand. We will be making our first trek into PA this weekend for our wedding anniversary, (wow, has it been twelve years already!!). I get Kennywood, and she gets Homestead on the Waterfront, (outdoor mall thingy). I am going to try to get her to agree to Idlewild too though.
  10. I'm a sad, pathetic enthusiast! I live in Dayton, OH, (5 hours from Kennywood or 6 from Waldameer) and have never been to any PA parks. Now here's where it gets really SAD! I've been on the property at Hersheypark. On the way home from a Philly mission trip our youth minister decided it would be a great idea to stop a Chocolate World's food court for lunch. I had sit there for an hour and a half and stare at coasters I couldn't get in to ride. I know I'll get there some day! I just have too.
  11. For a coaster that meant so much to the industry when it opened, and has held it's fanbase so well over these past two decades...Magnum deserves it! Corkscrew on the other hand, I'll probably only ride it two more times, and that is so my kids can get their credits...then...I'm done with that coaster.
  12. Wow! Is this park beautifully designed and landscaped. I really was not expecting this out of this park when I saw it on the front page. I guess I still have misconceptions from that park TPR featured a few years ago, (name slips me right now!). Obviously, the only thing this park needs is more coasters!
  13. I can't remember the exact cost of Yeti but it was several million. When they had all those specials on TC & Discovery a couple of years ago one of their top imagineers, Joe Rhode talked about it. He was several million, and was one of the largest, and most life-like ever created up to 'til that point.
