Crap: The Ride actually reminds me of several areas at SFKK a few years ago. Except at SFKK it wasn't theming...it really was just crap sitting around!

Photo TR: Wild Adventures Media Day 4-17-10
Hockeydad replied to Erik Johnson's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
We almost stopped at WA on the way to Disney last year, but our schedule didn't leave us much breathing room and Cheetahs reputation also had a lot to do with it too. But the park does look beautiful, the improvements are really noticeable from the older trip reports. The concert schedule looks completely awesome...are they all free with season passes? I'm really pretty jealous about this since King's Island barely uses Timberwolf for anything but a few music festivals, (Spiritsong is always good though), and cheerleading competitions. They're lineup of concerts at WA is incredible. They have it all covered from classic rock to christian, and country to gospel. Anyway, great job WA, and thanks for another great TR Erik! -

Gatorland is actually not as scary as I thought it would be. It was actually very nice in spots from your pics Erik. All I 'd ever saw before was the gator wrestling. Thanks for TR! -
Official TPR Chat Saturday Night!

A former pop star, a Brady and Giant Piranha flying into buildings! Sounds like a great way to spend a Saturday night. ScyFy just rocks...can't wait until Warehouse 13 starts back up. -

I love how Mini Mega is built atop a building. By the way, great TR, you at least got yours uploaded. I tried before and my computer just couldn't take it, I failed miserably. Never heard of Adventure Island before...looks like a great little park. -

Oh, I so remember Quake! I got lucky and rode it on my first trip to SFKK, but after that I don't think it ever opened again. It was a really strange ride, but didn't really move fast enough for any real thrills. -

I wish that "food and drink in the same cup" thing would catch on over here. I have to eat on the run a lot with my job, and that would make things so much easier. And once again, Lotte World, another park I would love to see some day. The TR's are killing me this past week! -

Great TR! Now I want to go to BGA more than ever. We may be down that way next year, and if so, we need to stop here for a few days. That park always looks so impressive. It always looks Clean, and the animals always look so healthy and content compared to what I'm used to seeing at the zoos around here. -
Disneyland Paris (DLP) Discussion Thread
Hockeydad replied to SharkTums's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yeah, it's called Toy Story Midway Mania and it opened in 2008. Sorry Wes, I was too quick to post earlier, I should've thought a little more about it first. The park I was told was Magic Kingdom, and since that first post I made I now remember that it was supposed to be themed around "Cars" not Toy Story. Anybody heard anything about a "Cars" attraction in the near future @ WDW? -

Hockeydad replied to SharkTums's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Agreed! This would be a great addition at either/both US parks. Is there any truth to a Toy Story themed ride coming to WDW in the future? I'd been told by a friend about a year ago it was in the planning stages then...but haven't heard anything since. -

We actually had a free round with our AAA package last year and planned on going to this one, but it never happened. We never slowed down throughout the week going to the parks, and just ran out of time. Bummer, this course really looks cool, at least on the theming end. -

I've already told my wife the next time we get to Orlando we have to get to the themed McD's down there. We were there last spring and forgot completely about 'em. Anybody been to the jungle-themed one? -
From my experience at the two CoCo Key waterparks I've been to they are pretty small by design...not really meant to be mega-waterparks. I believe the one in Cincinnati is advertised at 35,000 sq. feet, the one near Columbus seemed on par with Cincy's. Obviously, Orlando's already seems much larger, but it's hard to tell since it's mostly outdoors.

Didn't go to the Kalahari in the Dells, but we've been to Sandusky's 6-7 times now...and it is just mindblowing! I was told you can fit three complete football fields inside, (I believe closer to four). What's been nice to me when we've been there is that it's very wide open, not cramped for space. They could continue to add new rides inside for a while without expanding the building again. You'd have to ask a local, but I believe their next goal is to expand further onto the property, and add to the outdoor waterpark. It's an amazing place though...and I don't even go for the waterparks typically.

We have a CoCo Key just down I-75 from us. We go there 1-2 times a year, and while our is geared more toward the younger kids, their still fun parks. Now is the hotel itself new, or is it an existing hotel getting the CoCo Key makeover? That's what they did here in Cincinnati. I think they have a good chance for people with younger kids, who don't want to spend a ton or commit to staying at WDW or USO for 4-7 days.

Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread
Hockeydad replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Firehawk's issues at KI just seem to be more operator/queing from my experience. I was saying that when it was at GL it took me four trips to the park before I got to ride it the first time. I seem to remember it was either down for mechanical issues, or they simply wouldn't open it because of park attendance/understaffing. SF really missed the boat on that coaster to me. GL really didn't need that coaster back then, it could've done more good at another SF park. GL already had nine other coasters, (among those were Superman, Batman, Villain, Serial Thriller, ect.) -

Jamesdillaman said, "...Firehawk doesn't usually have a huge line, but the capacity is so low and the cycling times are so bad that it has huge waits. Huge waits and huge lines are different things." Point taken James. Now that I think about it, that coasters problems are mainly in the queing, and some mechanical issues. But KI does seem to have a better hold on that coaster than GL did, it took me four trips to that park before I finally got to ride it. It was never running up there. Firehawk is a lot better at KI than it was at Geauga Lake...at GL it was just painful. But I may feel this way because I've been riding Superman @ SFGAm the past two seasons, and B&M just rocks compared to those Vekoma "Flying Dutchman" models. -
Club TPR is Coming in March!
Hockeydad replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm so excited I could just wet myself! Seriously though, thanks Robb & Elissa for your tireless work on making TPR the best place for enthusiasts to go. I'm esp. excited about the Beast/Diamondback walkback. -

Does anybody know if they are keeping Scooby Doo and the Haunted Castle as is, or is it also getting the Peanuts makeover? It's not mentioned in the new listing, and it would take a huge effort, but I wish they would. Personally, I'm a much bigger Peanuts fan than I am a Nick/Scooby fan. John Peck said, "as guest favorites still remain to be the Beast, Vortex and now Diamondback." I would also add Flight Of Fear and Firehawk to that list. Those rides always have huge lines on them too. FOF I love and understand the reason for it's popularity, but Firehawk...I just don't get the love people have for that thing. -
