How Often Do You Go To Your Local Park?
Hockeydad replied to sfmmrules!'s topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'll go 3-4 times a month...but rarely will I stay more than a few hours. My son and I treat it like hit and run mission. We get there at opening, hit 6-8 rides consecutively and run for home before the park (KI) gets really busy. -
You Might Be A Coaster Nerd If....

You add an extra 20-25 minutes to your drive from Cincinnati just so you can check out Banshee & Diamondback at KI...in January. -
We had drove by it years ago and it was a nice outlet mall-type place. I want to say it was called Wacamaw, but I may be thinking of the Virginia Beach area. When we were there last Medieval Times was packed, and that was even around the opening weekend for Dolly Parton's "Pirates Voyage dinner show.

If I remember right, one of it's many problems was that it was more like 3-4 miles out from the strand. Plus, there was nothing out there to really draw people other than Medieval Times, (which was really good). Other than MT all I can remember is a couple churches, a hotel and a vandalized, graffiti-covered former outlet mall.

What's New for 2015

It's not about the kids! -
I guess I just got to thinking a little too much...probably just because it seems like this park has only ever been "half-accepted" by anyone I've ever known. I've always loved it because I'm just a huge animal lover...but it seems like many others consider AK a "Junior Disney Park" just because there is less to do there than the other parks.

I was thinking about that the other day too. I always wanted to visit there for Mr. Rogers Neighborhood...but I guess not so much anymore. Bad decision Idlewild. -

If we get in all the stops we are planning then we'll have a banner year for new, semi-new or remodeled coasters. Carowinds - Fury 325 Holiday World - Thunderbird Kentucky Kingdom - Lightning Run (It's a 2014 opening, I know) Thunder Run (RMC Revamp) T3 (Yes, I know it'll probably still hurt like hell, but...) -
I will actually miss it. I thought it was always a really cool icon to get a photo-op as you entered the park. I actually don't remember the park any other way. While Cinderella Castle and Spaceship:Earth are truly iconic, is there any possibility that the Tree Of Life is next...since it may not be seen as "iconic"?

On the whole Halloweekends thing...apparently the staff woke everybody up this morning at the Coaster Campout with Witches & Werewolves at their tents. I wasn't there, (I was unfortunately down the road at Motel 6)...but what a cool wake-up call. -

^ Uhhh...let me see...YES!! Worst experience all day yesterday, (except possibly C.C. Mine Ride) not even sure the RMC treatment could help MS. -

Sad to here about LoCoSuMo...hopefully they get to making the necessary repairs in the off-season. That ride still ranks with me as probably the "Most I've Ever Laughed On A Coaster" Such a fun, goofy ride!
