^That doesn't make sense. Humans can tolerate many more vertical g's on their backs or stomachs than just sitting upright. There has to another reason, or else B&M was just never contracted to make a flyer with a steep drop.

I decided to go down to Kennywood today and see what's going on with Wipeout and the Phantom's Revenge for myself. While I was there, I took some pictures. Consider them a Christmas present of sorts. Oh, in case you're wondering, the Phantom's track gauge is about 48.5 inches. (Yes, I did measure it, how nerdy of me. ) Edit: Sorry, moderators, I made the pictures a tad big. Even Santa likes the Phantom's Revenge. Merry Christmas! Another view of the trackless first drop. ^ ...which has been unceremoniously cut up with an acetylene torch. The old, rusty, dejected Arrow track... They still need to remove the top of the second hill. The Wipeout is all packed up and ready to leave Kennywood. The mounting brackets for the new track are in place. ^ The closest view of the new track to date!

BOO! Now I'll never get the HSTC credit. I really wish I could go to Knoebel's one of these days, it's just I don't feel like that alone warrants driving out to Elysburg. There would need to be some other reasons involved.

Guess what I heard? Kennywood may get rid of the Pitt Fall in 2010. Even though this is highly unlikely, (I give it about a 5% chance of being true) it does make some sense. The Pitt Fall's popularity has been steadily declining over the years and, according to some employees, it's become a maintenance headache. I'll be sure to ride it as much as I can this summer, you know, just to be safe.
