Nürburgring launched coaster
Kennyweird replied to thomas2's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
An awesome launch followed by trim brakes from hell and a disappointing layout. Sounds like a recipe for coaster enthusiast blue balls. -
OMG! Widescreen monsters!! RUN!!!

^ "Please remove your ears before boarding, or else the ride will remove them for you." Here's one more "over 9000" picture that's too funny to ignore. The DOW is under 9000!!!

I'm reading "The Scarlet Letter" for English class. It's actually a lot more interesting than I thought it would be.

I just got back from Boston.... um, yeah.

Wow, this hasn't been on the first page since, like, May.

I'm going to Boston tomorrow to visit my cousins, which means being stuck in a car (and heavy traffic) for 12 hours during inclement weather conditions.

Kennywood (KW) Discussion Thread
Kennyweird replied to DenDen's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Someone over at Kennywood Connection said they're replacing the old Arrow track because it's a maintenance headache. If you compare a section of Arrow track with a section of Morgan track, you'll see the Arrow track has something like 100 welds per segment, whereas the Morgan track is basically one solid piece. If you have 100 welds, that also means you have 100 potential failure points. Add that to the fact that the track is close to 20 years old, and you can see why Kennywood wants to replace it. -
I have a tremendous headache.

I wonder what the people driving down Kennywood Boulevard are thinking. "Oh my god! They're tearing down the Phantom!" -
I also like basing my opinions off of Youtube videos. That 450x338 video box really conveys what it's like to walk through a tunnel of water. You misunderstood me. It's a well done effect and all, and as far as I can tell it's the highlight of the ride (Sadly, Poseidon's Fury was closed when I was there in 2004, so I guess I'll never know for sure ), it's just not impressive from a technological stand point like Spidey is. I mean, all it is is just water being flung around a tube at high velocity with some lights shining through it, and although it's interesting and original, it doesn't blow me away with awe. At any rate, it is a shame that they're turning it off, assuming the rumors are true.

Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread
Kennyweird replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm liking what I'm seeing. This definitely looks like its going to be one of the best coasters of 2009. Looks like Kings Island may get a little visit from me this summer after all. -

Here's my analysis of it: The Good: -Pretty nifty layout, well done! -Track work was decent for the most part. The Not-so-good: - There were tree branches poking into the station. - I took a tree branch to the face! - Lift hill wasn't straight. (This is a pet peeve of mine) - There were a considerable number of pumpy transitions. Overall, a decent design with a few track related issues. Final rating: 5/10
