  1. ^Yeah, it's toxic. But compared to the asbestos ceiling, it's nothing.
  2. ^Like I said, it pretty much depends on your perspective. Perhaps its more painful to take your time writing your will knowing that you're about to die than it is to have only a few brief seconds to think about your impending death. Also, you keep mentioning how good the last meals are. If your scared or worried right before your execution (as I would imagine some of these murderers are), then there is no food in the world that will console you. At any rate, I can clearly see that neither side is going to sway the other side's opinions on the matter. So with this post I've decided to officially withdraw from the discussion.
  3. In English class we've been reading some stories from the 19th century that wax poetic about how small and insignificant man is against the forces of nature. This got me thinking, and then I realized this - As powerful as nature is, she is every bit as powerless as we are before the forces of time, as is the sun, as are the stars, and as is the universe. Everything, great and small, has an inevitable end. In a way, that's kind of comforting to know.
  4. ^He has a brain the size of one.
  5. Coastertube is fine. I preferred TPR TV, but I really don't care one way or the other.
  6. First of all, I'm very impressed with how civil and cool headed this thread has remained. It says good things about TPR's maturity level. Conversely, one can argue that it must be incredibly painful to know you're eating your last meal and saying your final goodbyes to your family. It all depends on your perspective. That's not necessarily true. What if the victim died of a gunshot to the head? That's probably not a painful way to die, but then again no one's ever come back to tell us.
  7. Yeah, it seems highly unlikely that you could "accidentally" slip out of those restraints. Either the guy was suicidal, had a mental problem, or was a friggin idiot.
  8. ^That's exactly why I hate capital punishment! It's just a way for the victims to get "even" with the accused. IMO, it's just as barbaric as the original crime itself.
  9. ^What I'm saying is no one is going to install a splashdown effect for braking purposes only. It's just not cost effective. [/end pointless arguing]
  10. ^Splashdowns are installed solely for the visual effect. The braking action is merely a "side-effect".
  11. Awesome photos, Robb! This ride is really taking shape fast, but I guess all wooden coasters (except flying turns) do.
  12. I had no idea Thorpe Park opens so early in the year. Seems pretty stupid if you ask me, especially in England.
  13. I do not feel that execution is a viable or acceptable form of punishment for a few reasons. First, as EBL said, since the execution process often involves dozens of appeals, it ultimately ends up costing more than simply imprisoning the guilty party. Second, it does not punish the guilty party so much as it provides the victim and/or relatives with a way of indulging their primitive thirst for revenge, and I feel that as humans we should hold ourselves to higher standards than revenge and vindication. Besides, the law should be concerned about protecting society from criminals (which imprisonment is entirely capable of doing), not providing the victims with retribution. Third, it is inevitable that somehow an innocent person will be accidentally executed, and unlike imprisonment, the accused is not able to present new evidence that may lead to a reversal of the sentence. The only situation I can think of were the death penalty may be acceptable is if you have a crazed person who cannot be brought under control. In this case, however, it would be used simply to keep the other inmates safe and not to punish the offender, similar to how an animal shelter may euthanize a rabid dog to prevent it from harming the other animals and staff. Other than that, I feel there is no reasonable justification for the death penalty.
  14. The themeing is quite impressive, especially the hidden mantas. Too bad the splashdown isn't real.
  15. People really need to grow up and realize that not every little accident that happens to them is somebody's fault. Sometimes, shiz happens and there's nothing you can do about it. Deal with it.
  16. ^I wasn't calling the video weak sauce, I was calling Rct3Man77's attempt at posting a random video weak sauce. The video I posted is far more random.
  17. We should have a TPR Ninja Warrior photoshop contest.
  18. Boo! That's weak sauce! Now this is what you call random: EDIT: For some reason the video won't embed.
  19. What's next, PETA, an ad featuring 9/11 imagery? Idiots...
  20. If Kennywood can live through the great depression, then I'm pretty sure they can weather out this recession as well. It won't be pretty, but they'll survive.
  21. ^That's almost certainly what they're for. It will be interesting to so how this wing dip thing actually works.
  22. Great Trip report, Hans. DLPR looks interesting, you don't come across to many parks nowadays that have an old fashioned hedge maze like Alice's Labyrinth.
  23. "The goggles, they do nothing!"
