Stratosphere's New 'Ride'
andyuk200523 replied to Twister II's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I think what miniviews was refering too was that the Intamin Drop towers are a true Freefall, whereas this drop ride would be either a) an accelerated freefall, or b) not a true freefall as it would be a "controlled (ie. speed) freefall. This looks very similar to what the Paratroopers in the UK use to train every day, good fun, but from all the way up there.....not a chance in hell of me going on that! -
Weird roller coasters.
andyuk200523 replied to Rct3man777's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
For me there are a few, The Classic (I believe it was almost unrideably rough) http://www.rcdb.com/ig33.htm?picture=1 Then for cuteness sake it would have to be this Human Powered Rollercoaster in Wales http://www.rcdb.com/id2493.htm On a side note, the Wiener Looping that was at Flamingo Land was an awesome piece of Schwarzkopf Engineering, I loved that ride about the same as Thunder Looper at Alton Towers, however The Bullet did make me grey out on more than one occasion Great Fun!!!!! -
Nice piece of work there, but I am fairly certain the end of the lightning rod was circlular in the film.

So are we going to be seeing an awesome POV of Tornado any time soon, or would they only let you take your stills camera on-board?? I have to say, that looks like the best spinner I have seen in a long time! Glad you are all having a good time over there, and do I spy KidTums on an Adult/Major Family Coaster????!!!!!

Fuji-Q Highland I do believe? -
Ahh, it reminds me of the great Alton Towers firework displays I used to enjoy every year up until the neighbours decided they didn't like people having fun late a night 7 days a year. Awesome to see the Pirates of the Caribbean theme in the middle too, would have been better to use the DJ Tiesto version though

Is it a Thermo-Nicolet Nexus 470 FT-IR Spectrometer more commonly used for detecting Class A, B & C Narcotics?

New Roller Coaster Concept
andyuk200523 replied to Rick_Irvin's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Awesome concept and amazing CGi, Very AIR related, which I like. However there would be way too many G's on the outward facing loops, I believe this is the reason B&M and Vekoma haven't attempted an outwards loop yet on their flyers, love the idea of randomly falling on the lift, very fun! -
How many times the same ride in a day ?
andyuk200523 replied to mingsai's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
My best so far was in 1999 when Rock 'n' Rollercoaster opened at MGM, I managed 28 rides in one day with a mixture of Fast Pass tickets and normal queuing, also managed 14 rides on Tower of Terror on the same day.....it was a great day -
Cameras in the WATER??!!
andyuk200523 replied to Lenaapple1974's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The Panasonic DMCFT1 is an awesome rugged camera, its waterproof to 3 meters and also drop proof on a hard surface to 1.5 meters, it is essentially the same camera as the TZ7 which I used to take my latest Trip Report photos (Great Yarmouth TR) which is a great camera, PLayed around with the FT1 at a recent Panasonic Training evening and I have to say, it is great (and yes I got to drop it and take photos under the surface of a fish tank ) Cannot find the links to American websites, however it retails for approx £220 - £250 over here in the UK Would seriously give it a look, it has a great lens and a nice 28mm wide angle for fitting in those larger rides up close! -

I believe Shaun is still the US Correspondant for the European Coaster Club, I remember reading a lot of his articles in First Drop a few years ago. -
From the video I have viewed of the testing (I understand the lift speed will be altered) But the ride seems pretty nippy through the course, just goes to show everyone who thought it would crawl through should have waited to see what would happen first! Can't get the You Tube Embedded to work....sorry!

Exactly. Do Bears Shit in the Woods......and if they do, why don't we ever see a bear reading a newspaper? -
The Bank Holiday weekend was upon us and we thought it would be a great idea to head up the coast to Great Yarmouth for the day to enjoy the beautiful weather we had that day! My wifes mum and dad own a caravan up in Yarmouth so we met up with them for the afternoon (and their new addition to the family....more later) Here is a nice POV I took of the Rollercoaster at the Pleasure Beach. [coastertube]http://www.themeparkreview.com/coastertube/play.php?vid=GtYarmouth_Rollercoaster_dik4[/coastertube] Final photo, hope you all enjoyed the views. On the way back home in the evening, spotted some great low lying fog on the side of the road in fields, thought I would take a few photos. For the ahhhhh factor I really love this camera I have been using The view from the In-Laws Caravan, can you spot the big wheel? Bye Bye for a few weeks Great Yarmouth. Will be back in a few weeks with more money for quite a few laps on these contraptions, great fun! Main signage Preparation area. More signage Signage You can also buy Segways off these guys, £4500 for the basic one, 1 x 2 hour charge will do 25 miles, not bad really! As a bonus, at the end of your 6 laps, you can have 12 laps for the same price without removing all your padding. Haven't had this much fun on less than 4 wheels in a long long time, next TPR UK Trip, there needs to be a Take Over! I was chatting with the Trainer and it took them ages to get Health & Safety to agree to the attraction, hense all the body armour you have to wear! £4 however for 6 laps on a segway is a great idea!!!!!! Just call me RoboCop with all that gear on! One ride done on the Big Wheel, don't need to pay another £4 each again. Looking out towards all the other sea front attractions.....whats that I spot.....Segway Grand Prix!!!!! Mmmm, enjoy getting soaked by the brown water!! You do get some good views over the Pleasure Beach. Tyre Shot!!! For the Big Wheel geeks out there. Time to ride the newish Big Wheel, was added 2008 I believe. The kiddie YoYo. Now you don't. Now you see em' Ooo Arrrrr Typical cheesy seaside ghost train. Little pop of hAirtime on this one. hAirtime! Good Fun. Gotta love the classic rides. Ridden the old one that used to be at Flamingo Land....never again, too slow! Evolution........reads as Evil!!! Wonder how many people have a photo similar to this? In all its glory. Me riding Sky Drop, always good fun. Prices, think they are a little steep for what is available in the park to be honest. Disko! Thought I would get some ride signs today for Larry to add to the gallery Welcome to the Pleasure Beach I was testing out a new camera for work today, was quite impressed with the results!! Blue sky's all around, still no-one on the flume!

Hi, I am looking for some help! I filmed a POV of the Rollercoaster at Yarmouth today (with full permission from all the Ride Operators and Station Manager) but I filmed it in AVCHD and am unsure of how to convert to upload to Coastertube?!?! Does anyone have a good program for free (I am only going to be doing the odd 1 or 2 videos) that can convert to the correct H.264 format for Coastertube??? Thanks in Advance

Alton Towers Discussion Thread
andyuk200523 replied to Ed's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
So basically, they are tell us that in Alton/Merlin style, it will spend more time broken than running! Lets hope that Intamin have ironed out all of the bugs with there rocket coasters before SW6 opens, I for one will be there in 2010 to test this out, I really and truly hope this can be a reliable ride installation, Alton Need something to stand out from the crowd at the moment, as nothing spectacular has been installed since 2002. -
I would just like to add to what Robb has said above using my personal experiences........... I used to be a moderator on Danimation.com about 9 years ago (when it was the place to be) and the quality of the posts there was pretty good for a while, then all of a sudden all these post about what is your favourite nut and bolt on blah blah blah coaster started to appear, closely followed by other random and pointless posts, I have to admit, this was after I had left my mod post, in my personal opinion, this was one of the many reasons why it went down in quality and eventually, well, most of us know that it does not exist anymore. Robb and Elissa personally pay a hell of a lot of money to keep these forums running (and the rest of the site) so if they want to abide by the rules to keep themselves the No. 1 site, then so be it (rules are meant to be followed after all, just ask the next policeman who pulls you for speeding) and I have to say about 95% of the time, the mods get it spot on! I love the fact that when I go into the forums on a daily basis, I know that 99% of the topics are interesting, and even if they are over a few pages and I have never read that topic before, it will be worth the read and may even teach me something about the industry. I for one would probably not visit here anywhere near as often if the forums were full of rubbish posts asking people to vote on your favourite Schwarzmin or Intasohn coaster, it is just something that does not need to be brought up every week!!! Everyone behind the scenes at TPR has worked immensely hard over the years to get to the No. 1 spot, and they are all working equally hard to stay there. I have often wondered why people who don't like what happens on the site return to voice there anger and keep doing it! If you went to a bar or nightclub and didn't like the experience for one reason or another, would you go back every friday/saturday night to voice your opinions???? I personally have had a topic locked by Wes, I didn't take it as an insult or anything, I learnt from it and I feel that the posts that I do make now (I have been a member for a few years now and have a particularly low post count.....quality, not quantity) I just PM'd Wes and apologized for not using the search function and that was it, I am fairly certain Wes appreciated the PM as it showed that him doing that one act has taught someone to be a better poster. Keep up the awesome work Robb (sorry I really should delete that, don't want it to look like I am sucking up to the mods, when in reality it is called respect) and Elissa and all the mods, this is one of the main reasons you guys are No. 1 and will stay there for years to come.

Whilst yes, I agree that Superman at SFMM most definately isn't a flying coaster I think the script was probably written before the visuals were added, and they just added stock coaster footage, Coaster programs are always pretty far out in regards to the finer details! I have to admit though I never realised that Kingda was that much taller than Dragster, it enlightened myself to this fact.

Nice video, my only criticism would be the overuse of slow-mo, it definately fitted with the song choice, but personally I would have chosen a song with a slow beginning, a slow end and a more upbeat middle, for the faster shots of silverstar and blue-fire. However, I have never successfully finished a video of a day at a Theme Park, so I wouldn't listen to me too much! Production was top notch though. Well Done. -
Here is the Kingda Ka Documentary if anyone missed it, pretty good watch to be honest. CLICK ME I found it interesting how some of the construction workers were wearing B & M Hardhats!!
