Well, this is my first TR, so forgive me if it is poor!!!! Been wondering about today for the last week, especially with all the problems that SAW seemed to be suffering from, finally got to this morning and with SAW seeming to run happily for a few days, we decided to head on down the road.....2 Hours later (and one very big Breakfast Roll ) I'll let my photos tell the tales, just to summarise though, had a great day, weather was amazing, and now have a new credit! Enjoy. Andrew "Lets Play a Game" Shakespeare I'll leave you with a shot of me and my mate and our "Chef" Cuddly Toys we won at a side show. Mmmm, not working correctly, after 6 minutes and £4 down, still soaking wet.....FAIL! .........must come down....on us!.....a little wetter than I remembered it from 2 years ago on my last ride! What goes up.................. Say Hi.....We're waving! Great view by the way! Detonator in the sun, beautiful. It may not be the tallest, but it packs a punch. Empty seats........you know what that means................no Queue!! Tidal Wave ahead.........just warning you. Samurai and SAW, you couldn't pick two better rides to sit side by side! Very photogenic coaster from the right angles. Great themeing on the exterior of the building. Still bedding in the wheels as they squeak at a few points round the track. Random park shot. Time for Rush.....thats me, in the middle btw in case you were all wondering. I love Rush, such a sweet feeling, and a very apt name! Not this time.....I'll be back for you Stealth. In my opinion, this is BAD Nemesis......a good ride, but no match for the original. Going Down! Going Up. Great Visual of the park whilst walking across the bridge. I see you SAW, be there in a minute

Thorpe Park Discussion Thread

Beer logic aside, all the dummies are are water containers, i am pretty certain they are all filled with different amounts of water, i have also witnessed on other coasters dummies being removed from certain seats to find out how the coaster reacts to certain weight differences. Good logic though -

At one point I have heard Inferno was down too, very very bad show on Thorpe's side.....obviously breakdowns cannot be avoided, unfortunate timing, but Surely if things were fully ran in before open season, half of these problems wouldn't happen! They better be working correctly by Wednesday!!! BTW, Stealth will remain closed until all staff have had full training on it, It was unable to operate for most of the winter due to the Launch Cable for the Catch Car needing replacement, this only got replaced last week, Once all staff are fully up to speed on the Running and Safety things, it will open, hopefully Tuesday (get all the faults out of the way, ready for Wednesday ) Andrew -
Very nice......I wouldn't have ever tried a completely plain one, really works though....good choice guys. Andrew "Didn't thing this would generate much interest" Shakespeare

POV - Point of View I believe he never said Full OnRide POV, just POV. Considering the ride hasn't even opened yet and there is a lot of secrecy surrounding the interior portion of the ride (gonna scare the crap outta you) I think what we were provided with from the BBC was sufficient. Gotta remember, this was the BBC local news, hardley Coaster Enthusiasts Nightly! Andrew -

It sucks doesn't it, the news never like to be seen to be siding with one thing, so for every good thing they show they always show the other "sides" arguement....are rollercoasters safe.........are concerts damaging our hearing blah blah blah.... Missing the Point BBC - it is FUN! -

Awesome, a POV that doesn't ruin any surprises of the interior, nice one Thorpe and BBC.....best of all, the bloke sat next to the presenter, is one of my best buds Darren! He is head operator of the ride and will be there, (He has popped up in a past Trip Report from TPR at Thorpe too, if you see him on Friday/Saturday tell him Andy says Hi Andrew "Really looking forward to 18th now!" Shakespeare -
Robb/Elissa, I understand that the TPR logo has a certain identity to it, however has anyone thought or even tried to change it for a fresher look? I love the current one, but wonder what it would take to have a Replacement logo...it would certainly need some class! Has this been thought about at all?? Andrew "love it, but wondering when the last update was done" Shakespeare

Lucozade Sport Orange is my fav drink to refresh myself, nice flavour, instant quenching! Andrew

No, this was MUCH bigger and far more intense. I'd been on Magnum Force and thought it was pretty good (still prefered Bullet, though), but this ride blew us away...especially backwards! --Robb Yeah I have to agree, Bullet was a far superior Adrenaline kick, I would however advise from riding one of the Weiner Loopings the morning after a heavy night on the beers.....I remember greying out on 2 rides back to back quite badly, only woke up when the operators prodded me!!!! What a rush, its certainly the only ride thats ever happened to me on! Andrew "hangover plus heavy g's not good" Shakespeare

Awesome......you got me! Have to say Mindbender looks great, one of the truly awesome coasters left in this world. Is it just a Mirror Image of the Drier Looping/Magnum Force from Flamingoland, that was a hell of a lot of fun to ride, they retrofitted the cars to remove the accordian restraints and replaced them with racecar 5 point safety harnesses, much comfort was had on it! With all these Schwarzkopf's being removed/closed/relocated from random locations round the world, it is good to see somewhere keeping theirs and looking after it! Good Trip Report too Robb/Elissa, keep up your great work. Andrew

My thinking on the saw thing is that they are already having riders on saw for TV appearances......quite a bit of media coverage in fact... ....for us UK peeps, check out Paul o Grady late this week or early next week. and all the local news channels at the end of the week, Oh and adverts have been filmed already. Beings as Robb and Elissa have a "special" connection with Thorpe, I am sure they have managed to secure a ride pre-open day. In a way it would be cool for them to ride early, but I hope they don't reveal too much about the ride, I want the full experience next week when I ride! I've already had to shut my ears to my mate who works at Thorpe, I don't wanna know too much!!! Sorry for going a bit off topic there guys.............wonder where robb is at the moment, would have thought there would have been a post by now.....he is probably reading all these and laughing to himself! 24 Hour Theme Park?
andyuk200523 replied to Emiroo's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Closest I've ever seen to 24 hour is Blackpool opening till 11pm (sometimes later) during the summer season, then opening again at 10am the following day. Whilst the enthusiast would appreciate a 24 hour theme park, would the public even want this? I cannot imagine my friends saying at 8pm, gee I think we should go to Thorpe Park for the night! Good idea in theory, but not in principle! Andrew -
Walibi Belgium Discussion Thread
andyuk200523 replied to Dark Vampire's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Oh no, not another Schwarzkopf masterpiece leaving Europe......why can't they look after and save these amazing machines! Am I right in thinking that if Walibi remove Turbine then there are no more Schwarzkopf shuttles in Europe? The news of Thunderlooper being removed was bad enough in the late 90's, but was not too bad due to being able to ride Turbine, however, what are we gonna ride now?! Andrew "Lets hope its just being closed for a refurb, not permanently" Shakespeare -
Has anyone heard this? 21st Century Breakdown All I can say is AWESOME - Green Day appear to be following up American Idiot with an equally brilliant album if this first single is anything to go by. If anyone has heard it, post your comments here, be interested to find out. Oh, Green Day World tour due later this year. Andrew

Bull's Old Park Photos, and other random stuff
andyuk200523 replied to Bull's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
I know the colour in the photos helps to age them and adds a certain nostalgia to them. But if you want to try and sort them out for your own memories, try downloading the trail for Adobe Lightroom 2 (I am fairly certain you can get a fully functioning time limited trial) I managed to do some good restorations of some photos from the 40's for a friend of mine. Sorry to go off topic. Back on topic. Awesome photos, I love looking at things like this! Andrew -
In Terminal 5, the Glorious Britain store is as you say in departures, however it is before security, so there is a possibility of anyone wanting to visit it, just walking right into it.....also as these photos were posted whilst Robb and Elissa were in America I think they are probably just from an old trip to be used as clues for destination. My personal opinion still stands.....the UK for something....more than likely Saw though. Andrew
-
I swear this photo was taken at Glorious Britain in Heathrows Terminal 5 Building Look at the colour schemes and the shelving designs. Also in robbs photo, apart from the London Eye photo, there is a Map of Great Britain on the shelf in front of it. Also I spy "Wispa" bars on the shelf on the right of robb, also I swear that is Scottish Shortbread on the top shelf on the right (maybe Country Fudge, not 100% Sure) My bet is also Thorpe Park.....however, it won't officially run with the public till Friday, so unless Robb and Elissa got special invitations from Thorpe, they are going to be a bit early!! Coaster Videos

Back when M&D's in Scotland premiered Tornado They had some adverts running which featured heavily edited photos of Dragon Kahn which depicted "A Tornado is coming" I have just sat for the last 40 minutes trying to dig up this image, but to no avail, if anyone has better luck than me, feel free!! Andrew -
the reason I was given from the ride op's was that it is a balance thing. If you are in a pair, you cannot ride next to each other, you ride back to back from each other, thus if you are on your own, you need someone else to sit back to back with you to balance the car. Anyone got anymore information on this? Andrew
