  1. This news made it all the way to the UK, just seen it on Channel 5 news update. I am not 100% about this, however, if the Inverted Boomerangs work exactly the same as the normal boomerangs then there is no lift on the first pull back, it is purely a catch car pulling the car back then releases, the 2nd tower is a normal lift which is connected to hydraulics, once the train has reached the top, the hydraulics kick in and the chain drops away thus releasing the train. If this is correct then surely there is a manual way of lowering the catch car back down as it is essentially just a cable lift system? Maybe they should have fitted walkways like all of the normal boomerangs, it doesn't ruin the look of the coaster, but saves any major problems like this hitting the news!!
  2. Gutted for PBB, but how on earth did this happen!! Will be very interesting to find out the results of the enquiries.
  3. http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=49815 I doubt it as they are going to Shanghai, China, not Japan. Be good to see a POV of it though.
  4. Not a particularily good Geographer, but I hope the current weather in China does not effect your trip guys!
  5. Ok, I am currently a smoker trying to give up (I'm getting there, I don't smoke the 20 a day I previously was) am down to about 4 a day....yay for me My opinion on Smoking in Parks is this, Smoking Areas are a totally stupid idea, would you rather walk past 1 person smoking and smell it, or walk past 30 people smoking and smell that!??! I Personally have never smoked in a Queue Line, no matter how long it is, I also am very observant when smoking as I try to walk away from the crowds (why do they always follow you?!) But hey, I am almost completely given up, so it won't be a problem for me any more.
  6. I am thinking that the Great America Drop Tower has 5 sides to it, whereas this one clearly only has 4. Mostly a Guess as I haven't actually been to either park, this is going by photos I have seen of the rides.
  7. If you look carefully at the Top Gun postcard the track and ties on the running side of the track are Silver, it would appear to be some photo editing maybe for aesthetic reasons on the postcard?
  8. I believe that at the end of the chassis there are small wheels that enable it to slide into the rails in the maintenance shed, this is how it is done on the inverteds anyway, I am not 100% sure on the floorless cars.
  9. This photo was taken on the 21st of July, I have seen a more recent one where the hole looks slightly deeper, but cannot find it at the moment.
  10. I was actually gonna say I've never seen a dual S&S tower; I've only ever seen them with 1, 3 or 4. Isn't the one at Islands of Adventure a dual one? I seem to remember you have been there before. Dr. Dooms is a Dual Tower, however, it does not have the joining structure at the top of the tower, so essentially it is just 2 space shots which happen to be next to each other.
  11. No because they never approved the Woodie, however the Arrow Pipelines were all ready for construction and got cancelled. On this basis as the Woodie never got past the planning stage it could never be called an SW ride. I think we will be getting a vertical track drop (i.e. the entire length of the track which is horizontal drops vertically giving the feeling of the floor disappearing) If you look at the latest photos of construction there is an almighty hole appearing!
  12. Ooooo, I thought Elissa's Evil Twin wasn't on the forums?!
  13. Explanation, why build something like a 300ft coaster with one trick to bring the public in, bigger is never normally better, look at Nemesis, tiny in comparison to Raptor, Alpengeist etc...... But still generally considered the much better ride!!! B&M know how to build good coasters that are A) Reliable, and B) Fun! If this means that they are staying below 250ft, then so be it!
  14. I was gonna reply without checking this out as I was fairly certain you are incorrect, but after checking it out I cannot believe it, I was wrong, I am gobsmacked that in 16 years of B&M Inverts being installed, I have never noticed the difference in angle between the front car and all of the other cars, very interesting! Thanks for pointing that out!
  15. [begin Transmission] The year is 2012..... The location is Surrey, UK...... Its going to be big............ ......Really Big.......... Its going to be steep....... [/End of Transmission]
  16. http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=47630 Be patient young padiwan
  17. They do look a bit thin, was expecting them to be a bit bulkier, however night rides should be good with the lighting effects they are supposed to have. Finally, can all the Ring A Ding comments end!!!
  18. No Katapul, gutted! Still miss it like crazy, good to see it in some photos though, I would love to go to Hopi Hari at some point, the place has incredible Themeing. Glad to see you had a good day.
  19. Nice TR guys, will have to get to some more parks this year hopefully, haven't been to Drayton for about 6 years now!
  20. Looks kinda like Door Bell but in flat pack wooden style, I can spot an electrical button and a speaker, but If it isn't that I haven't got a clue.
  21. I am looking forward to your TR of Hopi Hari, please let there be loads of photos of Good Old Thunder Looper!!! I miss you so!!!!!!
  22. 90mph - I personally think we would be looking at some nice big rockets on the back of the car, in reality you only need a short drop to be able to hit 90mph, just need bigger rockets
  23. Nice TR, I see you fell for the Preview Photo Order trick that the Forums play on everyone
  24. Giga Division??? Mmmmm, not sure about that one, I would have thought that there is a general design section of Intamin that design all of their coasters, considering that this is rumoured to be only the second "giga" coaster, how would they have a "giga" division? If this is all true then it is pretty good news, especially about the naming competition, but at the moment I am unsure. I thought Millenium Force hit 93mph, so how is a coaster about 100 feet shorter, going to hit 90mph?? even Griffon, at 205ft ni on vertical drop only hits 71mph, I am not convinced at the moment, sorry.
  25. Not again!!! All I can say is at least it was not in one of the main drive stations, so it shouldn't be too bad for the repairwork, wonder what it was this time that started it!
