  1. Just to let you know, that is the final turn which will be taken backwards, and yes, it is believed it will start out underground and maybe end up above ground.. ...Looking good so far though, can't wait to ride in April....wish I could get there earlier, but not looking like it at the moment!
  2. I am not sure of my exact reasoning for finding TPR, I personally believe It was more of an Invasion of the Bodysnatchers style situation, I woke up one day with a URL in my head and here I am, I was a lurker for about 2/3 years and used to visit once a month or so, then I got my donkey into gear and signed up, been here every day since...... .....Now if only I can remember all the details of my abduction into TPR land, maybe I could bribe Robb for a free Bag O Crap for all the emotional heartache of my abduction Never looked back since, best website on the net!!!!!

  5. Historically though, B&M have never made any large announcements at IAAPA, they are too secretive.. Great coverage both Robb and Elissa, one request though.......get to the Intamin stand and pump them for info on Altons SW6!!!!! Keep up the great work guys...
  6. To make it look nice? Or is it that if it was unpainted, the world would stop rotating? I'm sure I heard that....... Loving the updates from Clint, probably the most comprehensive construction footage I have ever seen, very interesting.
  7. A Good valid theme in that video, funny as hell too.....
  8. Pure Comedic Genius!!! (And good photos too!)
  9. They kinda look like the springs from clothes line pegs to me.......
  10. Whilst retaking English Language GCSE to get a better grade, I did a presentation about Rollercoasters to a class of 15 people, I did however score a B Grade Begging the Nemesis ride staff (my friend was an operator too, so it isn't as bad as it is about to sound) to let me have the last ride of the day and then into the maintenance shed so that I could have ridden more of Nemesis than any other member of the public (it was gooooood) Being late fixing an NHS Out of Hours system server in a scottish location (do not want to name location.....) because I was driving past Blackpool (well, it was an extra 2 hours there and back) and wanted to stop off to ride some rides! I think that about sums it up.....not completely over the top, but stuff you wouldn't find everyone doing!
  11. We have a winner, it is the back of a Panasonic 50" Plasma. Congrats. Your turn.
  12. Nope sorry
  13. Here we go, don't know if maybe I have made this one too hard, but lets here your guesses peeps! What Am I?
  14. Radio Mic receiver???
  15. In all honesty, a little bit of patience can really make you a good cake decorator, myself and my wife made and decorated our wedding cake and take a look, everyone at the wedding thought we had had it professionally done!
  16. Robb, Haven't actually tried it myself (Still trying to get my head around understanding AVCHD files fully at the moment, not anywhere near editing skills!) Looking around at various sources, there seems to be a mixed selection of results, whilst yes in theory WMP and WMM will natively support MTS files, there are lots of reports of choppy video playback, WMP locking up and no sound issues, also seen one or two reports of playing back in WMP but not opening in WMM, however my personal thoughts on this are people trying to open them on systems that cannot handle the file sizes and also people using the original BETA release of Win7, I know that if I try to play a Blu-Ray DIVX on this laptop, I will get choppy video, however on my uber powered desktop I don't have a problem at all (hence using it as a media server ). Can't wait to see if you upgrade and start churning out TPR Blu-Rays soon Hope this helps
  17. It looks kind of like a Towing Safety Cable, which is designed to be a backup to a main towing system just in case the main towing link breaks.
  18. With Windows 7 being officially released at Midnight tonight, I have myself been using it in one form or another for a few weeks, and thought to myself, I wonder what everyone else thinks of it? My own personal opinion would be I installed it on my Laptop and was really enjoying using it, very quick, worked with most of my applications, however, I then started to run more and more programs which is when I discovered problems....... 1) Office 2007 - The installation will not even run (might just be my version, but I never tried another one) 2) Adobe Photoshop CS3 will not install (Not a major issue as Corel Paint Shop Pro runs just great, but still annoying!) Since these issues, I have restored my laptop back to Vista for the time being, I think I am going to wait for the 1st service pack to be released before I start using Win7 full time. However, looks wise, I love the way the Taskbar along the bottom of the screen works, and I especially love the way it can "Split-Screen" 2 applications in one click. On first look, it would seem that Microsoft have managed to do what they should have done with Vista (Made a good looking operating system that actually runs as smoothly as it looks) But upon closer inspection, there have been too many changes in the rear of the OS which once again will make basic users think they have to replace a lot of their other software which certainly isn't on, they should always make a new OS backwards compatible with at least the previous 2 systems of Windows to try and help out the end user, rather than make them spend even more money just to get a working system. Your Thoughts?
  19. Do I spy someone trying to get a Boob credit at the front of the pool?! Either that or someone is in the process of drowning and is trying to get attention!
  20. I was always under the assumption the section that always gets double checked was the vertical loop, as this is the section that has been replaced twice due to stress fractures on the support which is connected to the rockface, I am probably wrong though, haven't been to Alton in a few years, will definately be going early next year though to check out SW6 and to re-unite myself with my 300+ rides on Nemesis I miss her so much!! It always makes me smile to hear people comment at the park about how small Oblivion is compared to the one at Busch (Griffon or Sheikra) when in actuality it is only 5 feet shorter! I swear some people don't realise how deep the hole is! Great TR btw.
  21. EuroStar is sold to a themepark in Russia (Gorky Park) Must have missed that happening then!! Wonder if any more large scale coasters will get built specifically for the travelling market?
  22. One of these days I'll get over to Oktoberfest, was EuroStar there this year??
  23. I remember in about 1999 riding Oblivion, going up the Lift it started to Hail, coming out of the Tunnel with Hail driving down into you was NOT FUN!!!!! I'd say you are doing about 50mph when coming out of the tunnel, and Hail seems to drop at a rough rate of about 40mph, you do the math!!
  24. For Non-UK Readers, we have a program called the Gadget Show over here in the UK, basically reviews of the latest Technology and every week they challenge themselves to design something. Well, I stumbled upon this video from a month or so ago and I think you'll all enjoy viewing this (I SO WANT ONE!!!!) http://fwd.five.tv/gadget-show/videos/challenge/rollercoaster-part-three If anyone outside of the UK cannot view this, let me know and I will try to find it on YouTube for you.
  25. I wonder if These parks that are experiencing issue of Cable breaks are purchasing their cable from Intamin or from a 3rd party supplier, does anyone remember the Incident on the Giant Drop a few years ago? This was reported to be down to the park using Sub-Standard cable rather than the correct specified cable from Intamin, maybe parks are cheaping out due to the Credit Crunch??? I don't really want to speculate this as at the end of the day, it is purely an accident!
