  1. What on earth is the gigantic hand grenade type building at the end of the launch straight on the right?!? Great Photos, looks like you all had a blast, I need to get out to Cali soon!!!!!
  2. Ride Hopper is also available for Android in the market, although whether or not it is linked into the iPhone database I have no idea.
  3. It is in Ipswich, right by Portman Road Football Ground.
  4. Yeah, Unlimited riding, was included, but if you only had a standard wristband, you couldn't ride any of the "major" rides, only the family ones, you had to have a premium one in order to ride everything, although for £7.99 it was a great deal!
  5. Well down here in the depths of East Anglia it is extremely rare to get any sort of quality when it comes to fairs......this year however, we have now had 2 in our humble little town in the space of 3 months! Some top quality rides were running at FunWorld, most notably some crazy death machines by KMG.....they really know how to spin you in crazy stupid ways!!! And what was this........A COASTER! This was my first credit ever in my home town, I was a happy person!!!! I was then even happier when asked to put up posters at work to advertise it and was given some free tickets.......They were only for a standard wristband however, but it was only £3 to upgrade to a premium wristband.....I'm happy with that! Anyways, on with the photos........ Very reasonable pricing....although it you want to ride pretty much anything you have to get the premium band, not the normal band. Rock Rage - A KMG Inversion ride....look crazy in videos I have seen, however it was shut Will have to go back again now!! lol I was then greeted by Tango....A KMG...well Tango! This is kind of the love child between a Mondial Top Scan and Mmmmmm, the devil! You are in a stand up position with a bike seat inbetween your legs, certain reminds you which gender you are! Up we go.............. This really was a crazy ride, for the first time ever on a thrill ride, I was glad there were handles! The operators weren't however running it in crazy 5-10 minute ride mode, which was a relief for someone who isn't addicted to spinning thrill rides! Mmmmm, good food! The staple ride of any fun fair! Never gets old Hellraiser - a standard Matterhorn, great ride Scream if you want to go faster! Every fair needs a Miami! Although this one was closed A KMG SuperSpin...called, Super Spin, I am not a major lover of spinning rides, however, this one was kind of like a Top Scan on Steroids! I loved it! Same again..... Credit!!!!!!!!!!! Zamperla Magic Mouse, great little ride, and if you ride by yourself in the left hand seat, you can get some crazy spinning going on I shall leave you with a shot of the kiddie Mine Ride and the Noahs Ark fun house, didn't get a chance to enjoy the fun house this time, I was too hot, but next visit I will Hope you all enjoyed this little TR! Just one more photo that I forgot to add........A Standard Superbobs ride, good operator!
  6. Awesome TR, loving Liseberg, I really need to get there at some point soon!!! BTW - I believe $25 dollars was the entry to No Fun Park........
  7. Awesome news, looking forward to again following this park!
  8. Awesome, thanks Elissa, shall enjoying getting this credit
  9. Hi guys, As the topic suggests, was wondering if there were any rules about adults riding the Orca coaster? I saw in the photos Elissa and Robb riding, but it looked particularily quiet that day, were there any signs about maximum heights or similar?? Quite keen on getting this off the beaten track credit in July.
  10. First things first, check the Park Index - see if there is anything they are missing from the park/parks you are going to! I usually try to make my captions mostly informative, but usually if I can think of something witty and definitely in line with the TPR Mantra, I go for that! Remember - just have fun at the park! Thats what Theme Park days are all about, it shouldn't be a job to remember everything you must do for your Trip Report! In my UK Tour, I spent the mornings wandering around riding all the rides, then went back to the car in the afternoon and grabbed the camera and walked around for a few hours taking pictures and usually the odd re-ride, I find this the best way of doing a Photo Day. Hope any of that helps you, I await reading your TR!
  11. Yesterday I was in the front row, but when I did my UK Tour in April I had 5 rides all in different seats and got the same jolts throughout the ride! Bring back the Arrow trains, I loved it back then!!!!
  12. Did the Thorpe/Chessington double day yesterday, and it is much better on a weekday! Thorpe - Had to wait for 15 people so Samurai could run, Rush was a walk on and so was Slammer, Vortex had a 1 ride wait, Saw was about 5 minutes, Collosus was about 15 minutes. Stealth - single rider queue got 8 rides in a row, even had 2 front row rides with that! At 3pm, decided it was time for Chessington It was EMPTY!! - managed 4 straight goes on Dragons Fury without getting out of the seat. Headed over for a ride on KOBRA ( love it:)) then headed back onto Dragons Fury for another 2 goes without getting up (although I seriously couldn't have handled any more rides, two adults on one side created some pretty serious spinning!) Did rattlesnake last twice without getting off, good fun We did get on Vampire without a single wait, however I do not rate this very highly now as it has just got rough!!! It has some serious bumps on the circuit which get your back quite seriously! Overall great day, going to do it all over again in 2 weeks time, I do love our Southern Parks!
  13. So forgive me if I'm wrong, are the red I Beams going to be the running rails? Cause in all of the photos I have seen there are bolts sticking up onto the top side, surely they can't leave it like this, even if the wheels run in the centre of the track? IF this is the case, it will be a similar track type to that which the Disk-O coasters use, on the giant Disk-O's you can feel the welds even though they have been ground off on the I-Beams. Hopefully someone can help me out here!
  14. Utter rubbish program, but there is some great footage of the rides at Thorpe, the aerial footage is great!
  15. Hurakan Condor Port Aventura is without a doubt the best drop tower I have ever been on! 2nd place is Apocalypse 3rd place is Detonator 4th is Drop Tower (cannot remember the name) at Terra Mitica 5th is Tower of Terror at Disney Studios Florida S&S Towers just don't cut it for me any more, not enough airtime!
  16. Without a doubt the single greatest Photo TR ever in existence, the photo quotes were legendary!
  17. Dannerman - great post! However, with some of the more modern coasters (ie. Gerstlauer Eurofighters) They run sensors that if a train does not enter the next sensor section the entire ride goes into lockdown and shuts every brake also giving the ride op an alarm. I will have to dig out the photo I have of the control booth, there is a diagram of the layout of the track which continually lights up as a train is making its way round the course. Back on topic I am surprised that the staff did not free the trapped item then let the coaster car run forward under its own steam?
  18. Apocalypse at Drayton Manor can send up cars whenever they are ready to go, they tend to send up the 2 sit down cars together and the 2 stand up sides together with the floorless side, must be something in the system allowing them to do this, although I have always seen them park the catch car at the top with the car at the bottom when one side is out of service. Good Photo TR!
  19. No Ultimate for you on the UK Trip Then!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Good TR, Like the awards system, very novel!
  20. This is exactly what my wife does on a daily basis (obviously not at Theme Parks, that would be very interesting!)
  21. If my memory serves me correctly, It was said at IAAPA a year or two ago, Maurer were saying that their restraint was so comfortable an upside down launch would be something they would look at doing. (It could have been a throw away comment or something though)
  22. Knowing what Maurer Sohne are like with holding people upside down, I wonder if this could be the long time rumoured upside down launch? Would certainly be interesting if it was!
  23. To Echo the above comments and to add further clarification, I was gobsmacked when I read the quote. Knotts were waiting for clarification of the maintenance (either monthly or every 6 months), Even at worst any person with half an ounce of common sense would have at the very minimum inspected the cable at the 6 monthly marker after not hearing back from Intamin, so how come the cable snapped after almost 7 months and had not been inspected? Sounds like the fault lies entirely with Knotts and not Intamin, I don't think a court in the land would prosecute Intamin! For example, if your Car manufacturer states that your cam-belt must be changed at 75,000 miles and you wait until 80,000 miles and it snaps causing irreversible damage to your car, you cannot claim against the manufacturer, it is your own stupid fault for taking a chance. This is what it would appear Knotts have done, they have taken a chance with a part that should have been replaced and it was only a matter of time before it snapped, whether it had been during a test run or with a full train (as it was unfortunately).
  24. Close......Ferrari World is in Abu Dhabi, I believe it is due to open Q3 this year, can anyone confirm this? Awesome TR Soren, am hoping to get over to Abu Dhabi and Dubai possibly next year.
  25. Nice one on Busch! My Wife is stuck out in Abu Dhabi, she was due back on Friday and its not looking like she will be back until at least the end of the week, I have to say its not fun!!!
