Official RCT3 Help Thread
andyuk200523 replied to mcjaco's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
Ok, random question, but it is bugging the hell out of me!!! I am currently trying to create an Indoor Park, to do this I have created some 4 x 4 Glass ceiling tiles, but am having some problems with them... When you hold down Shift and move the mouse up to move the item higher, I can only get it to move up about half the height I actually need it to move, has anyone got any hints or tips as to how to move the item higher.... Hopefully you all understand my question!!!!! -

Gas Prices where you live
andyuk200523 replied to RtherBOnACoaster's topic in Random, Random, Random
Converting UK prices (as we pay per litre) to US and per gallon, we are typically paying between $5.50 and $6 per gallon....... Last time I filled up my car, it was £1.32.09 per litre, it is exorbitant at the moment, yet they are never going to go down! Recent Petrol Prices near my home I remember the good old days!!! Even this at the time was considered expensive, when I started driving in 2000, I was paying approx 60p per litre! This gives you an idea of how quickly the prices have increased for unleaded and diesel over the last 10 years, if they keep increasing at this rate, we will soon be paying £2 a litre, which is roughly $14 a gallon!!!! -

How much Faster/Taller can we get?

I'll remember this the next time I am caught speeding....officer, I was only doing 100mph for like a split second, so surely I can't be done for that speed....................................... If FR hits 149mph even for a micro second, it has the record......... I think we have a KK fanboy in our midst that doesn't want to admit his fav coaster no longer holds the record.......... -

Just remembered a few more.... Riding Oblivion in a Hail Storm......hailstorms in the face at speed is not fun!!!! When in Orlando in 1999, spent a day on my own at MGM riding Rock n Rollercoaster and Tower of Terror, just going backwards and forwards between the two and getting Fastpass tickets on Rock n Roller, managed 28 rides on Rock n Roller and about 14 on Tower of Terror, great fun! To add to the last one, got slapped on Tower of Terror by some woman who was freaking out about the drop, she asked me if I could tell her when we were going to drop......................Ooops, I forgot -

Importance of Theming
andyuk200523 replied to Hayzle's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
To me, I much prefer Immersive themeing, such as Big Thunder Mountain/Saw/Nemesis etc..... IMHO Top Thrill Dragster may have themeing elements, but it is by no means immersive, but this is purely opinion based on the subject matter, I personally put TTD in the same category as i305 and Stealth, it creates a certain atmosphere, but by no means an immersive atmosphere! -

I think you will find that a large percentage of that budget is covering the infilling of the land to create this new Island, this started last year so they could take their time and spread the cost, the approx cost of the new coaster and themeing is probably closer to £14 million...... Yes, but it's still an immense figure. Think back to the landscaping required for Nemesis and Oblivion and recall their budgets. Oblivion cost £12 million, but remember....Inflation/Cost of Steel etc.... Also that Oblivion was a prototype, thus Alton/Tussauds got a good deal on it (think I read somewhere they paid cost price or something like that) Nemesis cost £10 million, again this was 16 years ago, so the price is probably comparable nowadays.....But in both of these examples, most of the cost in these figures was including Themeing/Groundwork etc.... It costs a lot less to dig a hole in solid earth than it does to fill a section of a lake with solid ground capable of holding a massive steel structure, especially at Thorpe where there is a lot of ground seepage (sp?) (anyone who saw the construction of Collosus can testify to that!) LC12 is a mammoth project for Merlin, both in terms of size and groundwork required to prepare for the ride.....(also I would imagine a full size plane made out of steel and fiberglass isn't cheap!!! -

It used to be a great place to go and chill by the chained oak, well that was before the internet ruined the location of it by people plastering it around, now there is just loads of rubbish around the base and people have carved into the trunk, haven't been back since I last saw it like this, disgraceful! -

Almost right, if you read all of the extra materials in the plans, it explains....all they had to do was adjust the location of the crashed plane from in the lake to just out of the lake, this was due to the possibility of contamination to the water. -

Best place at Alton to see some of the older stuff is to look over the fence behind the Toilets between Gloomy Wood and Forbidden Valley, used to be the location of Dynamo, some rapids boats etc.... -

Don't think it is anything to do with friction on the track, think more along the lines of a wider train having worse aerodynamics than a narrower one, also not having a zero car to guide the air over the train means the air is just smacking into the front which will create more drag. Without a degree in aerodynamics I can't verify any of this, but I think I am pretty close to explaining it properly
