  1. Just came back from seeing Capote this afternoon... Wow. Omg. Amazing. Hoffman should win Oscar for this role. Sorry Heath, but it's just such an all-encompassing role of a real-life literary figure. Hoffman earns it, totally. Woot. Quite a film. 9/10 ~ ~ ~ I love the nominated ones I've seen so far. Next week, we might get to see Good Night, and Good Luck.
  2. Genuine Happy Dance Post!!! Just found out about the gay cowboy 'song,' newly recorded by Willie Nelson, and and that it was orginally recorded by Pansy Division!!! Was orig.written in '81 and from there....? omg omg omg So kool that sounds.
  3. Love - those - steins. Wonderful! I have a few drinking cups myself, incl.1975 plastic from Horseshoe Review in DL! And a few commem. mugs and cups for WDW 15th Anny and DL's here and there, lol. Nice look at "a bit of" your collection, thanks! I look forward to nipping over to your site there for a better look at what you have. Kewl.
  4. Great TR, Robb. But - I did sort of wonder WTF when I gazed quickly at the lower part of this photo? Just a quick glance, hmm? Threw me off, as to WTF was going on with a second different coaster car there? Like a ball cage you sat in.....? Then - I looked around more in the pic - and THEN went ohhhhhhhhhhh. Good trick tho, when you glance at it, hmm? Sure looked like 'they' were riding the rail down there in the pic, hmm? Yes?
  5. ^ Don't worry. You'll get there, eventually. ^^ Julie, I was going to post to you, that the second piece of film you had posted was of a scene from the orginal Fritz Lang silent film, Metropolis and that there was Futura being created and 'activiated,' heh heh.
  6. The story of "Song of The South," which is basically what the whole storyline of Splash Mtn. is based on, is not as well known in Europe, as in North America, or at least thru the Disney movie. The Imagineers had "apparently" been trying to figure out how to get such an attraction into DLP, but with another theme, etc. At one time, I have heard, they even considered re-incorporating part of what was an original concept for a Frontierland "Pirates-like" boat ride, only thru the Wild Wild West. That part has been shelved for years. Until lately, when I kept hearing it 'rumored' from time to time. Who knows? Maybe they can combine a water coaster/flume ride with a Western theme, that can fit into the already-exisiting theme there of the pre and post-Goldrush era? Stay tuned....
  7. Weight by IKEA Keep up the great work, Tom. It will get easier, eventually, soon enough. Go TOM Go!
  8. Sounds like a possible entry in the "New for 2009" Department for sure. But - I would still like to hope, that maybe they are still thinking about about some kind of new attraction that would be in Frontierland, i.e. like Splash Mountain, but more to the water coaster idea I had heard earlier rumors about...? Well, at least it sounds like they are going to keep really busy for the next few years, hmmm?
  9. Depending on cost, you can also treat underwear the same way as socks, I.E. 'disposable' or throw away as-you-use, etc. Leaves you more space for souvenirs, hmmm?
  10. Quaker: (FROZEN in SHOCK) Robb: (Banging and Banging) This - Is - Not - Disney - Issue!
  11. Heya. I'm in for the time being, lol. Oops - "Supernatural" episode on now, on da TV. Back later.
  12. Hmmm. Little up and down arrows in the Calendar are back....
  13. ^^ dougr - I have two filled passports, and a third one about half-filled with all the pavillion/attraction stamps and "special day" stamps that occured from week to week at dear old EXPO 86 (I also miss that Scream Machine coaster - still have Nalley potatoe chip coupons for free rides on it!) I also have a placemat from that Fantasyland Pirate Ships' "Chicken of The Sea Tuna" snack bar. Right beside Skull Rock, too. Good times at 10 years old, heh heh. ^ Those books and attraction sheets look nice and unique, Chuck. I have a few old original Disneyland Hotel flyers, that I kept up collecting, when I snail mailed away for new park information, etc. They'd always include a flyer for the Hotel... early days of PR, lol. So many things collected! Great, guys.
  14. Hey you're young. Give yourself a chance. You got time, heh heh. My stuff is all from the mid-70s, 80s, and early 90s, mostly. And some of it was collected and stored just by pack-ratting things. In one the original bags I bought souvenirs in, etc. And then kept stuff in a box stored, and available for browsing thru, when I felt the need for an "instant TR memory trip" LOL. I used to keep everything from a fresh placemat (asked for of course), original mini menus from Disney restaurants (like DL Tahitian Terrace, and Blue Bayou) which I guess they don't give away any more? I even have (gasp) matches that Disneyland had available for smokers, ones for each land, too! And WDW produced them too, as I have ones from EPCOT, still. Anything's possible to collect, if the Disney name is on it - or a variation of it all. Like I call'em, Cheap Thrills available for all, heh heh.
  15. "Jolly Holiday" from the London UK Fall 2004 Cast recording of Mary Poppins
  16. ^ Yes, that's great!!! I was hoping that there would be more stuff we like to keep around "for the memories," and possibly take pix of them so we can see what you have, too. My original intent with this thread was more than just pin collecting, no offence to those who do, myself included, LOL. But for instance, I have a 1962 map of Disneyalnd that was available on my 1963 visit there, as a ten year old! It's framed w/glass, upstairs, and I intend to take pix of it in it's various areas for Disney Histronics Geeks here. Some of what you see may surprise you, considering what The Future became, etc. And on top of it, I have balanced the main collection of my Disney Poster Pins series, there. For Disneyland's 50th, y'know. And I have maps to share, folders to scan of "Parks No More," that some of you might be intersted in seeing. And a few other interesting things TPR here might enjoy for "randomness' sake". So yes, this thread is more than just pin collecting!
  17. ^^ Thankyou for sharing a beautiful, sad, and ultimately beautiful again, part of what Valentines means to you, calcajun. Wow. Ummm. (awkward moment here) Take care.
  18. ^ I immediately JUMPED onto that series, knowing it might be an interesting "novelty pin series" to collect, heh heh. So - have got the entire 12 from last year. And am starting the new set they decided to go 'II' with, lol. And I am collecting the Dave Smith 20 Moments in Disney Theme Park History pins series. Having lived thru pretty well all of everything that Disney Co. created and opened to the GP, it's a nice little "Time Line Series" in the pins' series that are coming out.
  19. ^ I just got a sh-sh-shudder when i read thru that. Velveeta? Naaaaaaaaaaaaaw.
  20. ^ I have two "royal blue" & white sugar packets from Disneyland Paris sitting in front of me here at the pc, since I got them in '02 and '04, separately. Wierd, huh? And one of the (gasp) cigarette lighters they also sell in the park(s). Things you learn in TPR, hmmm? Great on your sugar packets!!! Cheap Thrills for all!
  21. Better not have too high an exepectation about Stitch:Escapes. They've had to do re-tuning of it, well after it's official opening. And a lot of peeps don't like it, from what I've heard. But - Alien:Encounter just scared the poop out of a lot of peeps for some bizarre reason of...... hmmmm. NOT READING THE ENTRY WARNINGS??? I just think in the end, not enough people enjoyed the fact that Disney could create an actual E-Ticket Scare Attraction that was more adult yet fairly within it's "family-friendly" circle of.... edginess. I wish I could have gotten to try it once. Something I do regret missing out on. (EDIT: To does not = too.)
  22. *Happy*One-Year*Day* to TPR. Ya don't look a day over.... uh.... yesterday? Hmmm.... Anyway - I also 'reserve judgement' on National Card and Guilt Day today. And hope that TPR continues a good trend of an internet "community" that supports itself, governs itself pretty good, and shares the joy of sharing an ultimate, and longterm loving relationship.... Dem Coastahssssssssssss. Happy Spanks all 'round, mmm'k?
  23. Thought I would get some of us out of the winter squalls happening over in NE parts of USA and over our Atlantic side of the country.... I have several things I accidently (really) have ended up collecting and holding onto for (a lot) several years now. Since the mid-60s to late 90's, actually... That said, here is a photo look at a little set of tickets that are often talked about, but rarely, if ever, seen. A-E Tickets. Original. Circa.1980 (last visit before the tix were dropped in '82) I will show them again, more clearly, as what you are seeing now in the pix is daytime clear sky sunshine shadow during (ahem) "our winter" here in Vancouver. I plan to scan the framed piece more clearly and will post again. In the meantime, make it a game to try and figure out what exactly (then) was considered a say, "C" Ticket Ride, hmmm? You'd be surprised. More to follow later. Enjoy peeps. - Bill/NW Behold!!! I give IT to you. Gaze upon it's power and glory-ous green! It gave a Disney ride *1st*PLACE*STATUS*, heh heh. The Middle 2 - C & D - Usually and somewhat argued as to which ride actually warranted, etc. And why. Here's the basic A & B. They were always biggest, to be used sort-of first. Mainly transport tix. Like train? Been framed since three years ago. I (gasp) removed them from orig.books - no complete set, honest
  24. Ah - got it. Done it.
