"Watch out for men with pitchforks."

^ eep. On another note, I just got my DVD copy of the filmed production of SHREK: The Musical. And it's woooonderful! With the original cast and all the magic of a Broadway show onstage. Which makes me wonder why more shows don't do this. I understand the production costs would be hefty (SHREK used ten cameras, I read somewhere!), but still. I would kill to have a complete taping of Kinky Boots, or even the original cast of The Producers, back in 2001. Maybe as an "extra perk" of winning The TONY for Best Musical, the show in question would be also taped for posterity, with it's original cast. Just a thought on that.

Patents Thread-What's being researched today.
Nrthwnd replied to Chroniq's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ Judging by this patent design, and the one found on page 8 of this thread, It still looks like to me that this could be a design for a possible ride based on "Beauty And The Beast". All the kitchenware spinning and elevating, around each other and an AA of Lumiere in the middle of it all. And teacups too, lol! Just an idea here. EDIT to add: and the whole thing could be called "Be Our Guest," using the song as part of the soundtrack of the ride. -
Post your milestone coasters
Nrthwnd replied to bgwfreak's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Here's what I got... 100 - Clown Coaster - Oakwood, Wales 200 - Gold Rush - Kijima, Japan 300 - The Backyardigans Mission to Mars - Movie Park Germany 400 - 13 - Alton Towers, England 500 - Mine Coaster - Sun Park, China 600 - Medusa - Six Flags Mexico And #700 will take a bit longer to reach. But that's okay. Before TPR I was at (roughly) #74. At age 53! -
Wow. Very cool. Looking forward to seeing the results in the Tattoos Thread.

What does your house look like for Halloween?
Nrthwnd replied to odie's topic in Random, Random, Random
I wanted to try using just a black light above the front porch, but the street light across from us wasn't going to let it get much dark, to make the glow in the dark stuff, really "glow". So, I went back to using our trusty orange lights sets, in addition to the glow stuff. Didn't turn out too bad, but I still would have enjoyed it all being black light, instead. HAPPY BOO TO ALL! From the sidewalk. Another sidewalk shot. I liked this angular shot, with a bit of dark sky behind the house. On the porch itself - looking one way... And the other way, towards the front door. Happy Halloween Everybody! -
In my home park, Playland, there's this setup during the season (other than the annual PNE itself) for those kids/teenagers that don't get enough outdoor exercise at home. And the hoop and lines are just.....there. Easy to walk by in the park. My only question is: Do they have to bring their own basketball? Here it is. With our log flume in back there.

The Official TPR Update Thread!

Welcome to the club, Dave. Me and David love them too. We buy them all the time. My fave is Dill & Sea Salt. His is Rosemary & Olive Oil. -
In my decades of existence (ha), I have seen butch gays go off on flamboyant gays, and have seen nelly gays rip verbal strips out of butches. It's swung both ways where one part of our community is "critical" of another part. Sadly. But it's there, decade after decade, in one form or another. Whatever reason. It even extends into Pride Parades, right? And then when straight people's opinions are added (too much nudity, too much leather, too much politics, blah blah), it's usually a mess of criticism every year. A small mess, but still... People are people, and everybody deserves the right to be themself. And love themself. And love others. For who they are. Easy. (And I'm sorry you won't be making the Scandi Tour either, Jon. The ducks'll have to wait....) Fran(l) and Jon® nearly get farted on, in Bon Bon Land, Denmark. (June 2009)

Today's Burning Question - Loops or Hills?

I just found this at Broadway.com Loved it! Happy Halloween!

I have honestly been to neither park. And I have always known about Dollywood since it first began operation. Silver Dollar City, not so much... until these past few years. All the new stuff there, and the great comments about it. Now I feel like if I had the choice of going to only one, I would go to SDC instead of DW.

Another of our fave current shows, Bates Motel, has production across the street from us, tonight. Getting ready to film a couple of scenes using the pizza restaurant there. Filming won't begin until 11 pm and go to 1 am. But still...

Whats your favorite Vekoma?
Nrthwnd replied to Neogreeneyez's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Big Grizzly Mountain Runaway Mine Cars Hong Kong Disneyland Not too complex a layout, but it's still a nice family coaster, with a bit of a thrill packed into it, in the latter part of the ride. I could ride it again and again, easy. -
"it's such a perfect day..." RIP Lou.
