Mark's Postcard Paradise
Nrthwnd replied to thrillerman1's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Mark, I believe it wasn't that the coaster wasn't ready. It was down for maintenance. And also, wasn't this the 2008 TPR Europe Tour you mean? We were coming back from Drivelet Park (mmm, Formule X), and on the way back, Robb phoned ahead, and then found out we couldn't do the Dungeon. I was going to skip it because I had already visited and ridden the coaster, twice before. I rode it in it's first months of operation, back in October of 2005. Then me and David rode it in April 2004. Here's a few pix of the (then) construction of the coaster, before the 2005 opening... And thank you Whoosh Magazine for the photos taken back then. -

If any other park in North America hasn't had a new coaster built for them in over 20+ years, they have my sympathy. That's how long Playland in Vancouver has been without a new one. Just the wooden Coaster (1958) and the old steel Corkscrew, which opened in 1994. And I don't count the children's Kettle Creek Coaster (opened in 2004) because....well honestly, it's not a big thrill type coaster, hmmm? For you and me, I mean.

Tschuggen Express aka Intamin Monorail

THIS is what they should have considered for the possible The Incredbles Pod ride in DL's Tomorrow Land on the old Rocket Rods/People Mover track. Way back when. Too bad it doesn't travel faster "just a little bit" on the way back to the hotel. -

^ That's true. But I think this is mainly about flavored popcorn in parks, and not just outside of them. And not just caramel or with a powdered cheese on them, ick. -

Stop teasing! It's like June of 2011 all over again, LOL. (The Easter celebration ended in June, when we were there.) Great shots of the Easter themeing, Robb. At the right time of year, too. -

A few more photos, after scaffolding has come down, and wiring is being done for lighting, etc. From Disney & More, thanks! The new entry way towards "Remy's World". Overall view of attraction's entrance (middle) and queue overflow (in back) and the FastPass bldg. (right). And then there's that "bit" that's still exposed over there on the right? Still nothing to show if it's being blocked from view, or not. But I'm sure they have something ready and waiting to construct. (o; -

I also find it interesting, that if you look at the "background" used for the photos, the hanging eggs are the only things in colours. Everything else is in shades of browns and tans and sepia. LIke in a old time Oswald-type photo. I like it! -

...Especially when it's that dark! Great look at Pleasurewood Hills, Chuck. I wonder what their "new haunted mine" attraction is like. I believe it replaced the 3D boat ride with it's lovely neon paint.....fumesss. Awwwwm ain't me and Lou somethin'? A bit of leg to show there too, to scare the kiddies away, LOL. -
