  1. Yes Are you gonna ride one of the new RMCs next year?
  2. ^That's super exciting! I, too, talked with Mark Rose when I was there and don't have the liberty to say anything specific (not that there is much to say because he can't confirm anything yet) except that they've thrown around some exciting ideas but it sounded like it might be a while before anything happens.
  3. Has anyone been to Howl-O-Scream this year? I'm curious how it is. I got a behind-the-scenes tour of a few mazes that looked great and I'd like to hear how they are with all the effects and scare actors, especially Unearthed!
  4. I now interrupt the Ghostrider debate to bring you an exclusive first-timer's experience with Haunt! My friend and I had never done Scary Farm, but we came from Horror Nights the night before and met up with some Haunt veterans! First, we did the Boofet. I was pleased to find that there were some vegetarian options and definitely better than average park food, but it wasn't that exciting for me food-wise. However, the talent walking around were HILARIOUS!! I was getting up to get a fork when a scare actor dressed as a dog came up to our table. I said, "Can you get me a fork?" and he was like, "Do I look like your dog? Get your own fork!" So I did and then when I saw him again I said, "I GOT A FORK!!" He was like, "Congratulations! You should put that on your resume! You deserve an award!" I told him I should and he left and came back with the "Official Fork Award." The rest of the dinner we goofed around and I was dying of laughter. It's things like this that sets Knott's apart from other parks (and other Haunts from what I've seen). They really develop a relationship with the guests and put in a lot of TLC and really do their best to make the guest experience as great as they can. Major props to them! The Boofet was totally worth the cost for the entertainment and for early Infected tickets! I won't go through every maze individually since others did awesome TRs already about them but we were able to do everything once including both shows and Infected, and we ended the night with two back-to-back trips through Paranormal Inc. to try each side. Infected... what can I say? It was absolutely AMAZING and one of the best most unique things I've ever done at an amusement park! It really felt like I was in a video game or in a real life apocalypse and it was just absolutely amazing! If you haven't done this yet, DO IT! I really hope they bring this back again next year! The Hanging... WOW. I've never seen a show like it. It was absolutely hilarious and full of action and stunts and adult jokes ("50 Shades of Gray was the only book I've read where I didn't have to lick my finger to turn the page!"). I didn't understand all of the references but the ones I did get were hilarious! Haunt was totally worth it even just for Infected and The Hanging! Most of the other mazes weren't that scary to me, but the level of detail in each one was amazing. There were so many things to see and I found myself taking it really slow and just looking at everything. I really thought Knott's put a lot more detail in their mazes, just a lot of TLC, whereas Horror Nights was all just crazy scares, loud noises, and theatrics. Both events were amazing in different ways, but I see why everyone loves Knott's! The one maze that did get a lot of scares out of all of us (and hands-down the best and most theatrical this year) was Paranormal Inc! We were the last ones through that night and the scareactors were still super on their game and getting some great scares! A few crummy videos I took: [youtu_be] [/youtu_be] Okay, here are some pictures that we took FORK AWARD!! This scare actor just came right up and started taking selfies on the table with me. "Work it girl, work it!" The ambiance at night was awesome. I loved how dark and foggy it got! Black Magic. INFECTED!! Seriously amazing. One of the funniest scenes in The Hanging! "Whoa boy!" "Don't call her a boy!" One of the Deadly 7. They were so cool! VooDoo ToothFairy. Very dark maze with the graphic murders of children depicted inside. Boofet time! PARANORMAL INC!! Best maze! Elvira's Asylum! We were kinda late and got bad seats, so we couldn't really see her boobs This fountain was epic We're here! Mine train! "ON YOUR KNEES!" Wrath of the Deadly 7
  5. So I've been wanting to post a mini-TR from last week and just haven't had time yet to post it. First timer's experience at Horror Nights!!! So basically the only haunts I'd ever done was CGA, SFDK and SFMM. I finally decided this year that I was ready to do Knott's, and the literal night before we left for SoCal, my friend and I were like, "Hey, wanna go to Horror Nights tomorrow?" We drove down together and made it just in time for early entry. Another friend I met at West Coast Bash (and haunt veteran) was meeting us later and could get us to skip some of the lines. We found out Insidious and Walking Dead were open for early entry but had no idea where to go, so we followed the crowd and ended up getting in line for Insidious, not realizing how quickly the line would move. Before we knew it, we were walking through our first-ever Horror Nights maze! Insidious was absolutely the most terrifying thing I had ever done, there were just so many scare actors coming out from seemingly nowhere and it was unlike any haunt either of us had ever done. We left the maze and looked at each other and were just like, "WTF just happened??" But we weren't done yet, so we did Walking Dead. Then accidentally got in the tram line and found ourselves at Crimson Peak, then AVP, then back up for the Terror Tram (walk-on) just after the park opened. Insidious was by far the scariest but all of them were terrifying and amazingly well done. I had never screamed so much in my life! We ended up doing all of the haunts twice except for This is the End and Halloween (ran out of time for a 2nd trip in Halloween) and we did all of the major rides once as well and saw Jabbawockeez. Between it being a Thursday night earlier in the month and my friend getting skip the line passes, we didn't have to wait very long for anything! Our favorites in order from best to worst: Insidious, Crimson Peak, Halloween, AvP, Walking Dead, Terror Tram, This is the End. I had watched a lot of the TPR videos of these mazes so kind of knew some of the scares, but it was still just so ridiculously insane to be there in person! We left as instant Horror Nights fans and now I want to visit every year! Here are some pictures we took Why are you all just standing there while I'm getting murdered? This is the End! Not that great of a maze in our opinion... About to be terrified by Insidious! Terror Tram! Or should I say, effort walk?? Not that much terror and not that much tram! OMG I can't believe we went to Horror Nights!! I'm way too happy for this photo Jabbawockeez! Good show because we got to do the Nae-Nae with them! UNIVERSAL!! It had been a while for both of us! In line for something and very excited to be at Horror Nights! Terror Tram selfie! OMG is someone getting murdered?!? This reminded me of Lost and I loved it! Something very eerie about strung up bodies... Jabbawockeez! Oooh pretty! I immediately recognized what movie this was from and I sooo wish I could have done this maze!
  6. Well they did the Nae Nae with the crowd so... who could resist?
  7. To me, there's a world of difference between doing animal encounters with smaller or docile species versus trained and often unnatural behaviors performed for crowds. Which behaviors are unnatural? The majority of the "tricks" you speak of in the shows are behaviors wild orcas do too. Zoos still do trained behaviors with other animals but they try to stick to natural behaviors and those necessary for husbandry. Jumping through a hoop isn't natural for a tiger per se but jumping and flipping are pretty natural orca behaviors.
  8. ^Yes, they have taken a good deal of wood off after the first drop and the second hill. Here's one really awful photo of Roar deconstruction I went to Fright Fest yesterday with my friend. Because of work and traffic, we didn't get to the park till around 7. We processed our pass (quickest I've EVER had it done!), got our maze wristband, and then we were super hungry so we went to get food. Biggest disappointment of the night: the pizza line! I wouldn't have waited if I had known it would be soooo slow and they wouldn't have veggie pizza (which I asked them before I got in line and they said they had it, but I guess not as single slices). By the time we had finished eating and got our beer, it was around 8! And I learned that the park was only open until 10, which I think is an awful thing to do on a Saturday during Fright Fest! We did Carnevil first and that line didn't seem too long but OMG did it move SLOWWW! They were limiting the number of people going in at a time and waiting a while in between groups, which was good when you actually get into the maze but not for the wait! I had really low expectations for this maze but was pleasantly surprised. There were a lot of horrifying clown mannequins and some equally horrifying scare actors. A few good tricks and nice props, especially the one at the end! My biggest complaint was that there was too much down time in this maze, just going under a bunch of red and white flaps to get to the next room, and no scares in those halls. Next, we did Slaughter Pig Farms, always a favorite! I didn't go to SFDK Fright Fest last year, but they had changed up a lot of this maze from two years ago and completely reversed the direction of it. Still one of the best mazes there and had some good tricks and another cool big prop towards the end! Feeling a little nervous and pressed for time, we went straight to Nightmare Manor where we were met with another slowwwwww line. At about 20 till 10, I was wondering if this was going to be our last maze of the night, but it seemed like the employees figured that out and put a big group of people through just before us (unless they were somehow all together?). When it was our turn, my friend and I went in behind a group of 4. They introduced the maze to us (I don't remember them doing that before) and Arsenic and Arania popped out to scare us before we were led into their house. I really liked the bigger focus on the twins this year than what I remember before. The twins were around every corner it seemed! Unfortunately, I didn't really get scared in this maze since the group of 4 in front of us got all the jump scares, but it was hilarious to watch and I still really like this maze. With like 15 minutes before closing, we rushed and did Shipwreck of Horror, which was pretty much the same as I remembered it, and Scrapyard of the Dead which was also about the same, and didn't have to wait for either. We jogged over to Boathouse but made it at 10:01 and they weren't letting people in anymore. Caught the last two songs of Aftermath for a good ending to the night! Overall, I definitely think Fright Fest has improved significantly from the first time I went about 4 years ago, and has even improved a lot in the last two years! It's still not up to par with Haunt, but it has its own niche, so if you're a Haunt junkie, take Fright Fest with a grain of salt. My biggest frustration was them closing at 10 and the lines moving so slow that we weren't able to do all the haunts in time, let alone the shows. We might make it back to see the shows, but I'm not going to dish out another $20 for a few hours of mazes. I really wish Six Flags offered some sort of Season Pass for the mazes like a lot of parks are now doing.
  9. Yeah I've had rides where I was like "OMFG AWESOME!" and some like "OH GAWD, NO MORE!!" So I usually try to give it a chance, but I'm like that with a lot of rides. I'll still give them a chance of there's the possibility of it being good or if someone pressures me into it. I can still understand why people don't like it though. I still find Lex pretty thrilling when it holds you up there for a few seconds and especially if Superman launches when you're up there.... yeah, the anticipation is more thrilling than the drop, but it's still one of my favorite drop towers (okay okay, I like them all). Has anyone ridden Zumanjaro and had the same opinion of the drop as people have with Lex?
  10. LOL I knew there were probably gonna be spoilers but I couldn't hold myself back. I'm so dang excited! I want to do this event so bad this year, especially after the two backstage tours at WCB I've done (Forevermore two years ago and VooDoo this year). If all goes well, I'll be there on the 9th with friends I met at WCB! Thank you for the TR!
  11. No Do you think Michigan's Adventure deserves a new coaster?
  12. No Have you been to a Halloween event at a park yet?
  13. Yes Do you have a pet fish?
  14. Awesome photos and videos! Thank you for the TR! If I do decide to go to HHN this year, I'll definitely be watching a few of these movies that I'm less familiar with!
  15. No Are you fascinated by abandoned amusement parks?
  16. LOL so give people VR headsets on Grizzly so they don't notice that it's still a bad ride?
  17. This really intrigued me too! I loved the Insidious movies (I own the first one) and seeing this maze really makes me want to go to HHN this year! I might have to reconsider my plans now...
  18. Theme park if they have good coasters too. Would you rather listen to heavy metal or rap?
  19. Yesterday but not today Did you sleep in today?
  20. Thank you Robb and everyone who helped make this event possible! I had an amazing (albeit exhausting) time! I was really happy to go on the Fright Fest tour at Magic Mountain, it was a pleasant surprise! I thought it was super cool that they actually turned off the lights and put on all the effects for us to walk through and see. All the Knott's tours were amazing too. Although I wish I could have gone on the Ghostrider tour as well, I was super pumped about the Haunt tour, and I really hope to visit it this year. Still an amazing day with a lot of amazing people. It's so nice being around other enthusiasts who share the same passion and just goofing off and having fun. Thank you again to anyone reading this who helped put on this event. I can imagine it's a lot of work to put on, but I REALLY appreciate it and love what you guys do for us! Oh, and Twisted Colossus was absolutely amazing. I'm even more excited for Roar now!
  21. Love it! Thanks for the photos and report! It looks terrifying. Don't think I'm gonna make it this year to Universal but I love seeing the photos and descriptions of the horror they have to offer.
  22. Yesterday! When was the last time you climbed a tree?
  23. Yes Have you drank alcohol today?
  24. Yes, but some of the historic ones should maybe should stay as is Have you seen your favorite band live?
