Yes! Goliath at SFGAm and it was AH-MAZ-ING! Is airtime the most important thing you look for in a coaster?

Blackfish: January 19, 2013 Blue World Project Announcement: August 15, 2014 I don't think the Blue World Project is a response to Blackfish at all. A project of this scale had to have been in planning for years. When Mark Rose talked to us, he talked about how far in advance all of the rides at Busch had been thought up. According to him, ideas for Sheikra were discussed in the 90s and put on the shelf until later. Cheetah Hunt as a concept was introduced in the early 2000s. I don't remember exactly, but the basic idea I got was that they thought of ideas/started making plans YEARS in advance. I think it's safe to say that a project of this magnitude had to have been conceptualized a long time ago. I am interested in why the fins flop over. Someone told me it was a recessive trait that is common in Seaworld orcas because a lot of them are related. A quick internet search and reading a few pages sounds like it's more complicated than just a "deficiency" or "recessive trait." I don't think the whales are worse off for having it, but I doubt this new habitat will reverse the issue.

Yes. Do you wear a watch?

What about the shows and enclosures make you think they're not ideal for the animals? The whales want to do the shows or they wouldn't do it. Seaworld feeds them plenty, so they're not doing it because they wouldn't get fish otherwise. No one can force the whales to do anything, they do what they do because they want to. The animals have around-the-clock care. They don't need to worry about predators, environmental issues, food, and they have the best veterinarians at their disposal. At most zoos and aquariums, the animals live much longer than they would in the wild. Also, Seaworld has donated millions of dollars to rescue and conservation, one of the top donators in the world. In the last 50 years, they have rescued over 25,000 animals. They give homes to the ones that wouldn't survive in the wild. They educate the public about endangered species and get people to love and care about animals they might have not been able to experience otherwise. When you spend money at Seaworld, you're not just paying to continue to run the park, but you're paying for the constant research and conservation efforts that the company makes. I've heard that Seaworld has learned more about orca behavior than many marine biologists have in studying wild orcas. Also, orcas in the Pacific Northwest are becoming endangered, and Seaworld is stepping up to help them. Obviously, you can do what you want with your money, but you should weigh both sides before automatically believing a very flawed and deceptive movie. I'm no expert, but I work for the company now (at Busch Gardens) and I've been able to witness firsthand what this company does to help animals, and I've been able to talk to some people who have a lot to say about Blackfish. I don't mean to ruffle your feathers or say you're wrong for believing what you do, I'm just really passionate about this and when someone says that Blackfish has caused them to dislike Seaworld, I want to step in and put in my two cents so they can at least hear the other side of things.

Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said
RAWKIN_coaster38 replied to maliboomer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Someone posted on Facebook a crappy video of this coaster probably from someone on their cell phone watching the ride. [youtu_be] [/youtu_be]Someone said the coaster was probably at Magic Mountain because "they're known for pushing the envelope." I loled. -
Blue Horizons was cool at both parks but my initial response when I saw it in San Diego for the first time was "cool, but I wanted to see more of the dolphins." So I totally get why they'd be changing it. It's interesting that Orlando is more interested in the show than San Diego is. Are Californians just more spoiled on cirque shows or something? I'd like to hear someone's explanation for this. When I did go see the show, however, the stadium was full. So I'm not sure if I just hit it on a day/time that it was full and it normally isn't or if people are writing bad reviews of it or what.

RAWKIN_coaster38 replied to onewheeled999's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Technically Busch Gardens because I'm living here for the summer, but next new park will be Aquatica, Discovery Cove, and hopefully soon... Disney World!!! -
Roar and a RMC coaster are two entirely diffrent beasts in my mind. If RMC does re-model roar into their own verison of it I just hope they don't install a inversion anywhere on the ride. as any other coaster taller then like 40 feet at the park has a inversion. 3 of the flat rides have inversions as well, 4 if we want to count dare devil in that list. Park doesn't need anymore inversions. I've only been on Goliath so far but the inversions were some of the best inversions I've ever been on. I think RMC Riar will have at least one inversion and it'll be great and not disappoint anyone. Plus, GP love inversions. Seriously, we might be getting an RMC in the Bay Area and people are criticizing it and saying what they hope it won't be like? If this seriously ends up happening, this could easily be the best coaster in the Bay Area, maybe even all of CA if it ends up beating out TC somehow.

Last night at Seaworld with campers When was the last time you got really mad? -
Yesterday we were at the park with campers getting off of Turtle Trek when it went code purple (lightning within 5 miles, stay under shelter) and we had to stay in the exit listening to the song on a loop for almost two hours! I calculated that it's about a 3 minute loop and it says the word "journey" 27 times each loop, so an average of about once every 6.6 seconds. We heard the word roughly 1000 times during that period before we were able to shuttle our counsellors out of there! Unfortunately, we didn't get to do any rides or shows due to the weather (still not used to this crazy Florida weather!) but we did get to sleep in the beluga viewing area!

Roar has more airtime hills than Colossus had. It's in a smaller space but if anyone can make something great out of it, RMC can! That corner of the park would definitely be the first place to run to as soon as the park opens! I know Roar isn't technically a family coaster, but I saw more kids/families riding it than just about any of the other coasters (besides obvious kiddie coasters). It was a good in-between ride for kids that were too short/scared to ride any of the bigger rides. I'm definitely NOT complaining though if they do RMC it, I was just really surprised that Roar was even in consideration for RMC treatment. I guess it's just getting too expensive to maintain for SFDK and it has great potential.
 -
When I was first reading you guys discussing this, I was like "no way, SFDK is too much a family park." But the fact that Screamscape is reporting rumors of this and employees are saying it's going to close later this year, I'm getting more excited about this being a possibility! Which would be completely amazing as SFDK is my home park and Roar is already a good coaster. I'd be there every weekend for this! I just hope I can ride Roar again before it closes because I really do like it as is but RMC would be even better! However, if they did RMC Roar, they'd be seriously due for another family coaster.
