  1. I went the Saturday before last (Saturday before Thanksgiving) and I've never seen the park so dead. Most rides were a walk-on or a short 10-15 min wait. We rode 14 rides in about 6 hours (which included lunchtime in the parking lot) and ended up leaving early. X2 was open that day. I also went on the following Tuesday (2 days before Thanksgiving) without knowing it was BAFF day and just rode X2 (an hour wait). I didn't stay but the park seemed more busy like a typical Saturday would be. Again, I've never seen the park so unbusy on a Saturday as it was on the day I went, so I guess it's possible but maybe it was because the park was open all week for Thanksgiving and at least one of those days was a bring a friend day?
  2. These updates are great! Thank you!! I'm following on all 3 mediums right now. I love the Twisted Colossus trains!
  3. Thanks for the photos! I love seeing photos of Haunt. It gives me courage to know what kinds of things they have there so maybe I can brave it next year!
  4. Also I'm hearing the sky tower repairs of the elevator may be too high a cost to govern reopening it any time soon. Sounds like the Knott's octopus took a stop at Magic Mountain! Was just at the park, X2 was closed because of the wind and when I went back later, the employee said they got a call saying to not open it at all today. IDK if there's something wrong with it or if it's just cost/laziness since the park wasn't too busy today. Do they do that?? I also never saw Viper or Lex run, there may have been others but those were the only ones I noticed. The lines didn't seem too long, about 30 minutes for Tatsu, 30 min for Superman, 15 for Goliath. YOLO line seemed pretty short but got a bit longer towards the end, I got in line around 5:30 and found out why. It was having problems. It went back to working but then right around 6:00 went down again. People were stuck in the tunnel for about 15 minutes. They got it back working and I ended up being the 2nd to last train and rode in the front. I haven't ridden in the front in a long time and absolutely loved it! I actually think I prefer the front than the back! It had problems again so we couldn't get off right away but they got us off relatively quick. Also, I ended up riding with a man visiting from Brazil who said his friends told him Magic Mountain was the best amusement park in the states. I was kinda like, "Umm, I disagree, there's a better one in Ohio. But Magic Mountain does have the most coasters!" He also did a hilarious parody of how rough Ghostrider is now. He couldn't remember the name but he said, "The one that goes like this," and shook himself up. LOL!!
  5. We're getting an RMC hybrid and you guys are complaining about what their next coaster might be? I agree that after TC opens, I don't really care if what comes next isn't something super exciting. Hoping today at the park won't be too busy and X2 will be open long enough for me to ride it! It's been a while since my last few visits it was closed (or like last time, I missed it because it closed for some time).
  6. I rode in row 4 and it was the roughest ride I've ever gotten on it. I went as a single rider so I didn't have a choice but to take the open row but I'll be going again with a friend who's never been to SFMM and I'll make sure we get in the front row. But I just don't like stand-up coasters. They feel awkward.
  7. Done. That's the best thing I've seen all day! Do you think they might include Windseeker being torn down in the film? I'm gonna take it as a sign if Boomerang gets attacked in the film This was my favorite quote from the press release: It's such a bizarre concept that it should make for a really awesome ride!
  8. If CGA didn't get a hyper as their next coaster, I could see them getting a wingrider. I thought X-Flight was really fun and we don't have any in California yet. I thought CGA would make the most sense to get one (though I'd love to see one at SFDK). SFMM has X2 so it wouldn't make sense for them and I'm not sure about Knott's.
  9. It was a lot busier than I expected, but I should have known since it was a holiday. Not as many Christmas decorations as I had expected, IDK if they're still putting more up or if the majority of their decorations are lights (I hope I get to see them all on!). I waited about 30 minutes for Batman, an hour for Goliath, and used single rider lines for Luther, GL, Riddler (never again), and Viper. Viper's single rider line was confusing (I basically just went into the station) but it didn't really have a wait anyway. Batman should have a single rider line and same with Tatsu. It's a long wait but once you get in the station, there's so many groups of 3 that chances are you can ride it multiple times. But it'd be nice to not even have to wait as a single rider and fill up the rows. I was disappointed that I didn't get to ride X2 yet again. I skipped it in the afternoon because it had a 2 hour wait, and when I went later in the evening, it had broken down and they said it was going to be an "extended delay." So I left in favor of Goliath but when I left the park, I saw that X2 was running with riders. I almost wish I had just waited for it now that I know it did reopen.
  10. I'm all in favor of getting rid of Vortex. It has nothing going for it. Maybe another park might want it (I don't see why anyone would) but CGA just needs to get rid of it. It's painful and boring and painfully boring and SFDK has Medusa and no other floorless will compare to Medusa
  11. Speaking of fingerprinting and whatnot... I got my 2015 Gold Pass and they never took a photo or fingerprint for either of us. They wrote our names on the back and at the gate just scanned the passes and let us into the park. Did they fail to do something they should have? It really seems like I could hand my pass to anyone and they could get into the park. Is it just Magic Mountain who doesn't put the picture on the front or are all Six Flags parks doing that now? I've always gotten my pass at SFDK so this is my first time getting it at Magic Mountain.
  12. Great TR! I loved seeing the before and after photos of Colossus. It's good to hear that X2 is running again. I might go to the park on Tuesday.
  13. The creepiest photo I took on the last day of Fright Fest: Run away little girl!!!
  14. I went on Saturday and it looked like nothing new had happened. It was down on Saturday
  15. Saturday is busy, as at least one other has said...have a look here. The park will be less busy on Sunday evening (which is the last day for Fright Fest). Actually, Saturday is the last day. I might head down there Saturday. It hopefully won't be too busy, considering it's after Halloween. Let's hope that most people don't know that it is still Fright Fest. This is what I was thinking (hoping) too. We're gonna get our 2015 passes and possibly do Fright Fest as well.
  16. I just got to ride it over the summer. I did think that there was some good airtime, however, with all the trims, it did feel slow and kind of awkward at times. Still the 2nd best coaster at the park, IMO.
  17. I concur! It really sets up the mood, and I like the song choices for it ("Monster" by Skillet and "Sweet Dreams"? Hell yeah!). Thanks for the TR! Glad to hear that the new maze was good! Total Darkness was underwhelming.
  18. I got to the park yesterday around 2:15 and X2 had just closed, and as people had mentioned, stayed closed the rest of the day. I rode: Batman, Green Lantern, Lex, YOLO, Viper, Revolution, Tatsu (4x), Goliath (3x). I've never been to Fright Fest at Magic Mountain and I came just for the rides. I went through most of the scare zones, and with the exception of the one at the top of the hill and the one in the DC Comics area, I only saw one or two scareactors in each zone. Made things easier for someone like me who gets scared easily. Around 9:30 I was meandering around near the front gate when a lady asked, "Are you alone?" I said yes and then she hands me a voucher for a wristband. I was in total shock. I had absolutely no money and no intention of doing mazes unless I had friends with me (again, scared easily) but here I was with a free wristband and an hour and a half before closing. I ended up finding two really cool strangers who went with me into Vault 666 and the two Willoughby mazes. Then I got the guts to do Toyz of Terror 3D basically alone (there was no line so I caught up to a couple and followed them in so I wouldn't be completely alone). I ended the night with Red's Revenge in another group of strangers, but by then, I felt super courageous and didn't mind being alone. I really like Red's Revenge because of the cool sets, with Willoughby's Resurrected and Toyz of Terror close 2nd and 3rds. I definitely hope I can go back this weekend and try everything. I'm really proud of myself for going through mazes alone for the first time ever!!
  19. Anyone want to go in with me on the "buy 2 or more passes" deal to process before Nov 2nd? I can go any weekend but probably not on a Friday. Message me if you can do it!
  20. From their newsletter. So is Marine World not selling Gold Passes after November 2nd? From Magic Mountain's home page. So I'm guessing Magic Mountain WILL sell Gold Passes after the 2nd but at a higher price? Is there really a difference between having a SFMM Gold Pass and a SFDK Gold Pass besides the in-park coupons and bring-a-friend tickets?
  21. Anberlin in San Francisco, the Farewell Tour. Their last ever concert in California. It was a truly amazing concert and very emotional for me. I got pictures with all the band members and autographs. I sang every song and screamed my lungs out and ended up partially losing my voice (which doesn't happen to me very often, I can scream like there's no tomorrow and my voice stays strong). Anberlin is an amazing band and they've been there for me through a lot. I have many wonderful memories connected to Anberlin albums. I'm really going to miss seeing them but at least I'll always have their music and the memories.
  22. Has anyone been to Fright Fest yet this year? How was it? And has anyone been in the new maze, "The Boathouse at Blood Lake?" I'm guessing it's in Monsoon Falls where Blackout or whatever the frick that maze was called was. EDIT: Total Darkness, this has been a tribute to a wonderfully memorable maze.
  23. I ran into this same problem not too long ago. I ended up renting a car on Saturday, and returning it Monday. It was a little more expensive for me because I'm under 25, but otherwise it would have been more reasonable. For me, public transit was a no-go because the closest train was closed on Sunday. I liked renting a car because I had more control over the timing than I would have had with public transit. Maybe you could rent a car and use the extra day to go twice (if you have a season pass) or visit the city.
  24. I finally got my hands on a rental car, so I'll be going to the park tomorrow! I'm down to meet up with someone, msg me if you are planning on going! What kind of crowds should I expect for tomorrow? It's a Sunday after Labor Day and before Fright Fest, but it looks like it's the last operating day until Fright Fest starts. What would be the best plan of attack for the park? I'm planning on getting there early and going straight to Goliath. EDIT: If you happen to go to the park today, say hi to the girl with the purple hair!
