  1. From what I've heard, it should still be fully functional if they cleaned it up a bit. I really liked the 3D theater when it was open. However, I feel like they should do something with that space soon. It could be the site of a coaster, a dark ride, you name it. It's really the biggest piece of land they have open right now.
  2. Thank you for your help! I actually figured that all out yesterday, although it took me a long time. It sounds like I might have a friend next Sunday that'll take me. I guess it's good that I get to avoid Labor Day weekend! Just means I have to wait impatiently another week.
  3. ^thanks for making that clear for me. I was wondering why Roar wasn't in the pic. Idk why I thought Six Flags would edit the footage to put V2 into it So if this ride will take the place of pass processing, anyone have an idea where that would go? The lines get super long so I hope they'd at least move it somewhere where it wouldn't be a traffic issue Also, it's funny because based on their Facebook post, most of the GP don't seem too enthused. At least we're getting a new ride
  4. I'm trying to go to the park this Sunday. I know it might be terribly crowded due to Labor Day, but that's the day I can go. I'm coming from Lemont and looking at trains/transit to get to the park. From what I gathered, I could take the red line and then get on the dark green line to Waukegan and then take a bus. Can anyone who's good with public transit in the area confirm that this is right? Also, what would you guys expect as far as wait times go this weekend?
  5. From the photo and video that Robb posted, I thought it would be put in the backstage area behind V2. Like right behind the exit for V2. They use that area for a maze for Fright Fest but that maze sucks anyway. I bet they could devise another entrance to that backstage area for employees. If you look at the video, you can see V2's vertical spike at the relative area it would be if the new ride went where I'm imagining it
  6. There are a lot of flat rides similar to fair rides. However, these look higher quality than your average fair Super Loop
  7. I was feeling so bummed that I can't make WCB this year, but assuming we have a day at SFMM next year, it'll totally make up for it for me
  8. ^Well Hammerhead is old, they could take it out any day now. Maybe that'll be the site of the next new ride? I don't like that they're calling this a coaster, I definitely won't be counting it as one. I'm willing to suspend judgement for now until this thing opens. Maybe it'll be a good addition to the park. Looks like it's going over behind V2? Seems like a good place for another ride.
  9. This is gonna sound lame, but I literally wanted to cry, that's how excited I am for this. We're finally getting an amazing RMC/airtime machine/OMFG coaster in California! Within driving distance for me! So fucking excited for this.
  10. This is utterly AMAZING. This is exactly the type of thing I've been wanting to see for years. I kinda thought it would eventually happen, but it's so great to actually see a plan! I'll definitely be there to see this when it opens.
  11. Anyone a fan of Hannibal? I just watched the season 2 finale last night (aired on Friday) and it was crazy! I love this show for how crazy/gory/edgy it is. I was a fan of the Silence of the Lambs/Hannibal movies so I'm really interested to see where this show is going to go. I haven't read the books but I did read a break-down comparison of the book and the show, sounds like the show uses a lot of characters from the book but adds a lot to it.
  12. I had so much fun last year, I for sure will do whatever it takes to make it this year! I'll probably convince my friend to go who hasn't been to Knott's in years and has never been to SFMM. We were going to plan a fall trip to SFMM for her first time, would be sick if her first could be at WCB!! I'm going to make an enthusiast out of her one way or another! This is the perfect plan.
  13. I'm surprised no one posted this. "Pretty cool seeing Tsunami Soaker come together! Here's one of the nine boats being lowered and installed onto the base on a ride that will soon having you spinning and #SOAKED!" From SFDK Facebook on May 12th It's also going to open on May 31 to the public, with a season pass preview on the 29th. Anyone planning on going?
  14. ^Thanks for the update! Glad to see Tsunami coming along nicely. I think my sister was there the same day as you, and it sounded like it was semi-busy. If you only stayed for a short time, maybe you got lucky with the crowds.
  15. I agree with XYZ! Personally, I see the dolphin show almost every time I go and they seem really happy. You're right, we can't place human emotion on them, but they definitely don't look miserable. They flip and jump and play even when not commanded to do any tricks (in back area pools where there aren't even shows). During the show, they flip away when given the command for do a trick. Before the show when the music comes on, they swim back and forth and look at the crowd. I don't think depressed animals that hate their lives would be doing these sorts of things. Also, at the last show I went to, several of the dolphins didn't obey the trainer's commands. They didn't want to do the trick, so they didn't do it. And they still got fed by the trainers. All of this is observation, that anyone could see if they actually went to the dolphin show and watched the dolphins at SFDK and observed! Yes, go back a few pages and I posted a pic from last Friday.
  16. This just looks so amazing. I bet a lot of pants will be shat once this beast opens. I like having lots of notice for this, I might just have to start setting up an account with TPR now to make sure I can go ride this thing. I love the name and theme too, Wildfire holds a special place in my heart because that's what I named my starter on the first Pokemon game I played.
  17. I'm glad the bill is getting postponed (basically killed if I understand politics right?) but it's still sad to me that 1.4 million people blindly signed this petition, and even a children's class now won't get to see the whales they're being told they should rage against.
  18. I went to the park again today, but I'll try to make this quick. Park was busier than Friday but still not very busy. The highlight? My friend saying, "I wish there were margaritas" and then us finding them. Have they always sold margaritas over in Roar plaza or is this new? Because it's awesome and I never noticed them before. I also noticed signs in front of the Familgias' pizza and Sharky's? snacks saying there is construction going on for new "fun". I'm not sure if this means new food options or if they're just refurbing the places. I'm hoping new food! Esp at the pizza place, since we already have another of the same. Also, I definitely think SkyScreamer is better backwards. You guys should try it. Oh, and the spinning balloons ride in the kids' area is kind of awesome. Esp after drinking a margarita
  19. The hotel across from the freeway by the Black Bear Diner isn't so bad. I can't remember what type of hotel it is though, but if you mentioned it I'd remember. Just got back from the park! I literally was there for about 2 or 3 hours and did everything I wanted to do. The day started out rainy and cold, so even when it cleared up, the park was DEAD. I also almostttttt rode Boomerang. I got as far as sitting down and asking myself, "Am I really going to do this willingly, alone??" But just then, it broke down. I walked away and didn't come back. Another coaster enthusiast said of the breakdown, "That's the definition of mercy." Here are my photos with some progress on Tsunami Soaker and more! Cold cold day, but it cleared right up! I like good, young wood Oh yeah, you're gonna be nice and smooth now in the beginning, still rough and hard at the end They were working on it today as well I spy a large damp hole I saw all these metal things from Superman (and of course, dead whales too). I'm guessing the new metal is for Tsunami but idk which part of the ride it's for Superman is great when he's damp... and when you don't have to wait your turn for him! The butterfly exhibit was nice and warm inside I hope this exhibit continues to stay for a while! Apparently he came in around Fright Fest last year. I didn't notice this exhibit until now OMG!! My first time EVER riding this with the waterjets! It was a nice touch to stare at the water and not empty, trash-filled, concrete...nothing Kong wood, because having wood is definitely gonna improve your experience on Kong! Seriously, why is this here? Signature dolphin photo! Thanks for reading, guys. Hope nothing I said was offensive
  20. I didn't get it. If anyone gets a survey about food, please please please suggest more vegetarian/vegan options! There's like literally two things at SFDK that are vegetarian, and only one of them on the food plan (cheese pizza) which is definitely not vegan. So poor vegans! Speaking of healthy foods as well, this is random but look at what our Subway store has now (in addition to save $15 coupons): I wonder how many stores are actually doing this, but I know it's at least the North Bay. I think Burger King and other hamburger places have done promos with SFDK before but as far as I remember, this is the first time Subway has done it and changed the cups to go with it. Too bad there's no more Subway at SFDK.
  21. I don't mind Kong as much as other enthusiasts, I ride it every time. Speaking of, I decided to go to the park on Saturday as a side trip on my way home to my family (5 hours away) even though I was sick with a cold. I only went for about 2 or 3 hours, but I rode all major coasters except Roar (still being retracked) and Boomerang (I never ride it). Superman line was only in two switchbacks but felt like it took forever this time, maybe half an hour? Kong was actually a few switchbacks in but I waited anyway. It felt rougher this time all congested as I am, but I know how to tolerate it, and the loop is actually pretty thrilling. I rode Skyscreamer backwards, and I can't say the experience was overwhelmingly different for me. It was nice having the wind on the back of my neck after suffering through the heat with nothing to drink and being a little sick. I do think it was maybe a little less dizzying? Someone who's not sick needs to give their non-Dayquil-affected opinion. A few photos I took: Cute dolphin was amused by me taking photos of it Oh hello there! I didn't get to see Drench! for time reasons but I still have to include cute dolphin photos Cute little Mirabella! Tough to get a good photo of her though. Construction on Tsunami Soaker. Yes, I did stick my camera through the fence slats to take this. First day of Monsoon Falls reopening and looked like it was pretty popular! Looked like they were only running one boat as well. It was warm enough I would have ridden it if it weren't for the wait! This is what I love. Short Medusa line! And only around 4pm!
  22. I didn't ride it, but I remember seeing it run backwards at least once during Fright Fest. I'll have to try it though. I'm having to postpone my visit due to sickness, but I'll make it some time during that time frame. Now if Batman backwards really is more tame, then would Kong backwards be less rough? Hmm...
  23. That's awesome. All the bandwaggoners and closet activists on their pedestals saying "boycott Seaworld" and it hasn't affected Seaworld attendance negatively at all.
  24. Wow! It's a beautiful park. I love all of the large statues of sea creatures. The hotel looks exquisite too. What marine mammals do they have at the park? I'm guessing belugas, are there false killer whales as well? Any dolphins? Personal curiosity, I love cetaceans
  25. OMG, yes!! When I rode Roar about a month ago in the middle, the bottom of the first drop and the next hill were so freaking bad. It hurt so much and I'm usually very tolerant of rough rides. I'm the one who insists on riding Kong every time I visit, but that ride on Roar seriously was not fun. It's so good they're doing some retracking! Hopefully it'll come back to a more tolerable level, and maybe I can start riding it in the back again (fingers crossed!) I'm probably going to go next weekend, maybe they'll have more completed and I can snap some pics? Did you see the baby dolphin?!?! She's sooooo cute!!!
