  1. That stretch of track on top of the first pic looks like some serious tWiSsStYyYyYY! I can't wait to see how intense this fantastic looking ride will be. Anxious to know the opening date!
  2. Being a poor student, I'm actually very happy how the year turned out! Some amazing parks! Tivoli Hansa-Park Holiday Park Tripsdrill Europa Park anddd the huge Christmas Fair here in Berlin! Plans for 2016: For sure: Phantasialand Kolmården Gröna Lund Liseberg Possibly: Walibi Holland Efteling Europa Park Bonbon-Land Tivoli Bakken
  3. Best: Too many...! Magnum XL-200, Maverick, Blue Fire (that inline twist ) Big Thunder Mountain @ DLP, Karacho @ Tripsdrill (awesome dive loop), Euro-Mir... Worst: Probably Ninja @ SFMM. Adventure Express obviously looks terrible althugh I haven't been on it yet...
  4. The queue for Wodan at Europa-Park has to be my favorite.
  5. Indiana Jones @ DLP. That ride might as well just been built by Pinfari. There is not a single good thing about it.
  6. Scream @ SFMM. Not because it's really *bad* (I found some of the 'bad' B&M's like Mantis to be quite forceful and interesting even it wasn't that comfortable) but because it's just totally mediocre in every way. Unoriginal layout, not very smooth, quite forceless and very ugly over that parking lot... And the fact that it stands in a park with so many spectacular coasters doesn't make it better.
  7. The two best times that come to mind were marathoning Piraten @ Djurs Sommerland on a *very* empty day back in 2011 or so. I had more than 30 rides… and this summer I went to Holiday Park, it was in the main season but kind of rainy, so also very empty. I managed about 15 or 20 rides on Expedition GeForce. I don't think I've experienced so much weightlessness in one day, except for skydiving...
  8. Euro-Mir wins it for me! It will forever be one of my favorite coasters in the world, even if it isn't a 'top 10' kind of ride. It was the coaster I rode the most during my 3 day Europa-Park trip back in August. It never stops being fun! Honorable mentions go to: Rutschebanen @ Tivoli Gardens, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad @ Disneyland Paris and Ninja @ Six Flags Magic Mountain
  9. ^ GIANT trims to tease roller coaster enthusiasts. (Nah, they're just covered while they're doing the theming, it looks like.)
  10. I never went (it's way beyond my budget) but Ammolite in Hotel Bell Rock at Europa Park has two Michelin stars. Did anyone go? Generally, I found Europa Park to have really good food, especially the hotels.
  11. B&M: Scream, SFMM. Not a super bad ride, but very rattly and ugly. Intamin: Furius Baco. No wonder they never build another WingRider, it is the single most painful coaster I've been on. Disaster Transport was pretty boring as well, but not agressively bad. GCI: Haven't ridden enough to say.
  12. Taron is like the kind of ride someone would build as a super detailed 'fantasy' coaster in NoLimits or something and where people would say 'naahhh, that's never gonna built'. It's pretty much a coaster enthusiast's wet dream. I can't wait to ride this!
  13. I've only been on one flyer, Tatsu, and it's my favorite B&M. More so than the inverted, hyper, floorless, sit-down and standup coasters from them I've ridden.
  14. All of the ones at Disneyland Paris and Studios. Yes, even Space Mountain: Mission II, I really like that ride. It's incredible what theming can do to mediocre coasters (and thus I guess the credit goes to Disney rather than Vekoma... But still...)
  15. Hey, guys! So, a few weeks ago I reallyyyyy felt the coaster-cravings starting to set in, and I decided to spontaneously do a mini-trip to Holiday Park, which I hadn't visited yet. The idea was to take the night coach from Berlin to Mannheim, visit Holiday Park during the day, ride a certain orange coaster again and again till collapsing (either me or the ride), and take the night coach back again. About one minute after booking that I decided to add Tripsdrill as well since it wasn't far away, I never went before, heard nice things about it, and because, well, coasters. This is going to be my first trip report by the way, so please bear with the cheesy captions and the apparently also quite cheesy camera lens of my iPhone... The trip started with a 'nice' and very full 8 hour coach ride from Berlin. Well, at least it was cheap! After a night with very little sleep (but plenty of nearby bodily odors to enjoy!) I arrived in Mannheim at 5 in the morning. My home for the next 4 or so hours... If you have extremely sharp eyes you might spot it. "Oh, another stupid amusement park! But... wait... that girl looks kind of kinky, though. I wonder what kind of 'holiday' it is they offer......? I... I guess I'll give it a shot then....." And after what felt like the longest 4 hours in my life, I was finally on my way. The park is just a very short train ride from Mannheim. It was supposed to rain all day... Ohhhh... Take me already!!! ...annnnnd 12 hours after leaving Berlin, I'm finally here, right for the opening! (Yes, this was literally the entire crowd waiting to get into the park with one of the best coasters in the world 10 minutes before opening. NICE.) After stuffing my belongings into a fluffy, fluffy hamster filled with pharmaceuticals and gravy it was time to head in! The entrance looks really nice. Waiting for the rope to drop. That employee could hardly handle the massive crowds just DYING to get into the park. Oh. My. God. It's time. The moment I have been waiting for. I felt it calling me, felt its shining orange track attracting me to its grip like a magnet, my heart pounding faster for every inch closer I stepped. PRAISE THE HEAVENS, I HAVE ARRIVED, AND HERE I STAND BEFORE THEE. OK, I'll pull myself together for a moment now. Expedition GeForce. I couldn't wait to ride that coaster, and lucky me had the ride pretty much to myself all day. There were always a few rows free. I was on the very first ride of the day, in the very front row. There I randomly met a really nice guy and fellow coaster nerd, Julian, and we stuck together for most of the day. Yay for not being sad and lonely! The lift is fast and smooth as we know it from Intamin cable lifts, and if you're on the right side of the train it offers great views of the ride to come. And what a ride! The first drop: In the front row you get nice hangtime to PERFECT floater, all while you feel your body being twisted around its own axis, the track is perfectly heartlined. It basically feels like flying. Now, in the back row, it's a completely different story... The best way to describe that is "HOLYYY SH*T!!!" You get yanked out of your seat and flung violently to the side, just crazy ejector air the whole way. Awesome! The rest of the ride is all about airtime. The two initial hills after the first drop produce great, glued-to-the-restraint ejector... ...with a pretty forgettable overbank in between. The next section is also nice, but probably the weakest part of the ride: Another overbank followed by a steep upward turn to a straight slope down, none of which really did much except offering some pretty cool perspectives. Luckily, this is followed by an AWESOME twisted airtime hill, snappy and full of ejector. Pure Stengel. After another overbank, the ride's finale consists of four perfect bunny hops (with a 90 degree left turn between number 2 and 3), full of airtime. All in all, Expedition GeForce is an amazing ride and lands solidly in my top 5. After the initial 6 or 7 rides on EGF it was time to check out the rest of the park. First up was their log flume, Wickie Splash. It's actually one of the better log flumes I've been on. Three drops, one backwards, and the last one a double down... The theming was really cute, maybe a bit too "cartoonish" for my taste, though. Also, I somehow failed to get a shot of the big drop. AWESOME JOB MAN :) :) :) :) Next up was the Premier launcher Sky Scream. The queue had great themiAAARGGHGHHHGHHHHHHHHHH ARRRRGHHHHHHHHHGRRRRRWLLLL!!!! AAAAHHHNOOOOOOOOO THE HORRORRRRRR :'( :'( :'( oh wait, that's me, tee hee The ride was really good, but not great. The launches were a bit weak but fun, but the hangtime in the heartline roll was nice and the non-inverting loop was super, too. Definitely worth a few rerides. My only real complain are the annoying restraints with the shin guards, not terrible comfortable. But the ride is quite smooth, so it's ok. Do you guys notice my captions get less and less funny? Yeah, I'm running out of ideas, so I'm gonna put some bad jokes through Google Translate and post them in Finnish for our Finnish readers. Miksi kana ylitti tien? Jos haluat päästä toiselle puolelle! Mikä on vaarallinen ja keinut puista? Apina moottorisahalla. (By the way. Lovely theming. Must've been a bear sale.) You're welcome. Next up was this massive erection. It took me on a nice ride. They had a nice kiddy area, too, very cartoonish but cute. The giant flowers kind of remind me of Arthur at Europa Park. They had this cute little museum about the parks history, too. The park's mascot, Holly. Look at that lil birdie dude. <3 They have a river rapids ride here as well. It's pretty mediocre, but really wet! Ok, that's it for now! Check back soon for Holiday Park, part II and the AMAZING park Tripsdrill!!! Comments much appreciated
  16. Haha, I actually think that looks so weird that it's sort of cool and unique!
  17. Hmm, if we're talking major/otherwise good coasters here, I'd say Silver Star has a pretty lame first drop. It's right over an asphalt road and it has that ugly scream shield all the way down on the right side of the track ruining the view somewhat... And it doesn't really offer much airtime unless you're wayyyy in the back of the train. I have to say I enjoyed the rest of the ride a lot though! I remember Goliath (SFMM) being pretty good actually, but judging from the comments here I may be wrong...
  18. Great TR! PortAventura is such a beautiful park, I just wish their operations were better.
  19. Hey, nice park! I like it a lot. Good supports on Orion. I'd remove the last barrel though, if you're going for a realistic Arrow. Also, the entrance gate to Adventure Harbor looks very bland and a bit blocky. Maybe add some details and try changing up the colors a bit? But nice work overall!
  20. I, for one, don't think this looks ugly at all. I think it's really cool and sleek! I'm excited to see what they'll be able to do with it. Like someone already said, maybe it will lower the rotational radii even more = even more crazy RMC twisteness!!
  21. This is hard! I'd say Millennium Force and X2 tie for no. 1 for me, with Maverick in the very back seat closely behind. (Very) honorable mentions go to Expedition GeForce and Schwur des Kärnan... Now, I just need to get back to the States and ride Skyrush!
