^KD is pretty much at the same stage of construction,at least according tothe latest update a couple weeks ago.

I find shockwave to be far smoother by comparison.

Having ridden carolina cobra back in august I can say that the new restraints are an improvement,if it weren't so hot on the day of my visit the ride probably would've been better...still vortex was far worse & that's a B&M!!

^I don't see the GIB anywhere in that scale model.

. I do not know if I should excited, glad, or just plain doubtful on the new park president. I hope that he'll come up with some interesting ideas to help Six Flags America rise up from it's knees and become a great park one again! I guess that "we'll see" within the coming years. "Don't look at me; I just want to lie in bed." For years now it seems like SFA can't seem to keep a GM for more than one season which reminds me of Snyder & his firing of coaches year after year for the skins blaming the losses on them rather than his own shortcomings.Hopefully SFA can rise from the ashes of the past decade to live up to it's potential as a major player in the mid atlantic once again as they were on the right track until the new rides stopped coming after batwing was added.

KD did a partial retracking on Grizz over the past couple of seasons & the ride is still running far smoother than the POS next door known as hurler...now that thing needs to go as no amount of retracking,or even topper track can save it.

Only this time don't have someone be stupid enough to call the fire dept. & just let nature run it's course....if only we could g et that lucky with hurler.

Hopefully a darker gray than the current colors shown in the update.

Nice layout...looks like you've got some of Carowinds' hyper in there especially the turn around. The orange does seem a bit too bright,perhaps red or maroon may prove to be a better color?

It probably was & that is what they painted thus far for that particular section....but then again some of the other segments look to have a light shade of gray as well.

I didn't find FOF's OTSR to be anywhere near as bad as JJ's even with all that extra "padding" you still got bashed around to no end but FOF's(at least at KD) weren't as big around on the top as JJ's were....I'm kinda not liking premier's lap bar all that much either as it's getting to be a tight fit on both FOF & BLSC these days & having that oversized bar shoved into your gut isn't the most comfortable thing during a ride on either coaster.

I think that's the primer,if you look closely at the end cap on the backside of the track segment you can still see a tiny bit of the original IW brown on there.The spine looks like a darker gray due to the shadow cast by the light source.I do recall when they repainted mind eraser back in 05 they used a similar primer before applying to new yellow paintjob so we havn't seen the finished colors just yet although I would've thought it'd be easier to repaint the sections after assembly similar to how KD did with Dominator.

Let's not forget that they also removed many rides while offering no replacements & when there weren't that many new rides being added over a span of ten years removing the precious few remaining rides without replacement gives people in the region even less of a reason to visit than if those rides had remained & recieved proper maintenance to keep them in operating condition.

That would be very dangerous, if you ask me! The Intamin Impulses don't have a floor drop, so it is quite possible for there to not be one. True but the Intamin trains sit much higher up on the track to accomodate this

Come on now,I don't hate the park but I sure hate the way SFI let it go downhill over the past decade & adding this coaster is certainly a good start at trying to rebuild the park but they do have a long way to go to get back to where they were before all of the mass ride removals & that will probably take a few more years.

Yet another management change up? I've lost track of how many GM's this park has had since Janet Porter left around 8 to 10 years ago. Changing GM's every other year won't solve all of the park's problems,only a change in attitude from SFI can make that happen.

I was suprised to read this on newsplusnotes via facebook as I assumed the JMA sale was a done deal....hopefully CF can turn the park around by actually adding more rides & other attractions which are sorely lacking at this location.Kinzel probably would'[ve GL'ed the place but now that there's a new CEO in town we just might see some promising change & the rumored GCI is a good start.

That's what I kinda despise about most steelies (minus Intamins of course) as they tend to crawl through the 2nd half of the ride & in general the 2nd half tends to be shorter than the track leading up to the MCBR....Intimidator @ Carowinds is a fine example of this.

After riding vortex @ Carowinds this year I highly doubt that apocolypse will be any better so I'll take KD's windseeker & their togo standup over it any day.

I hated that ride when KD had theirs,which was right about where drop tower now stands.

I have a feeling that they'll start sooner than that,especially if they hope to have it ready for opening day.

Carowinds is posting pictures of dirt and stakes in the ground which is exactly what KD said they wouldn't do. Here is their Facebook status from 11/8/11: I know as I already saw that post days ago.

It was a rather novel flat for it's time in the early to mid 90's but unfortunately it was plauged with maintenance/operational issues toward the end of it's lifespan at the park....those same problems are what led to KBF & now NU removing their roto shakes as well.I have seen the ride get stuck,both upside down at the start,as well as up in the air & either way wouldn't have wanted to be on it under those circumstances.

Funny how Carowinds is posting pics of their construction on facebook but so far none from KD yet.

So far nothing new on windseeker yet.
