Shane's Amusement Attic

I really need to stop posting stuff when I'm half awake Yes, I did deserve that. I should have noticed the date change... As for the thrill lift, that is a design I've always wished Vekoma had at least attempted... Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't there only one tilt coaster currently in the world because of the amount of issues the tilt mechanism causes? Correct,it was the Gravity max in Tiawan. The thrill lift did make it into RCT3 though....perhaps it was proposed for CGA after they lost the TA2K after KD passed on the flyer in 01 but in the end they went with the mouse instead? -

Hopefully they're not adding that skip the line crap for rides next season. -
I understand you on that point, the major parks close enough to me are KD,SFA & to a lesser extent BGW.Now if SFA closed I wouldn't feel too bad about it as they've been really coming up short(much like CGA in the past few years) but if KD wentI'd be a little more upset over it,that said CGA's biggest problem with additions/expansions seems to be the pesky neighbors & their "NIMBY" attitude as it's this attitude that cost CGA that woodie that CF wanted to install, whereas GL was doomed the instant SFI had sold it since even they knew that the park had fallen so far behind in terms of new additions that it was beyond saving.

Ride Attendant Foul-Ups
KDCOASTERFAN replied to UnderCoverDrummer1's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Even if the ops missed checking your seat the ride does have a redundancy system built in that will not allow the train to dispatch with an unlocked restraint. Yeah I was gonna say this. Same with the Drop Tower story that someone else shared. Even if they pressed the dispatch button, it wouldn't dispatch without all of the restraints properly locked. The button (I assume) would just do nothing, or flash some light that indicates that not all the restraints are properly secured. On most of the 2nd gen towers each section has a "section ready" button that the op has to press after checking seats on that particular side, along with a manual release for the restraints. -

True, but in a weak economy CF would do well to get some rides that are cheap to redistribute among the remaining 9 amusement parks in the chain(GL doesn't count of course) as a few flats, the two B&M's & perhaps the mouse coasters are worth relocating....everything else is either too old or just complete crap to consider moving to another CF park.

CF would do it if they were interested in making a quick ROI regardless of which park they did it in & with the new CEO coming on board he may decide to take CP in a different direction than Kinzel did with less emphasis on making it the sole bread winner of the chain. -

Oh well maybe that means 600 foot coasters for all parks!!! I dunno about a 600 footer but perhaps a 400 footer could be in KD's future? The mid atlantic region could use something along the lines of KK but with a slightly different layout & it would give KD the launch coaster record once again...a record we lost when HSXLC was removed. I really think that CF is really interested in KD as they wouldn't have given the park a giga if they didn't think that they were worthy of such an expensive investment & then as if that weren't enough they chose to add another massive thrill ride in the form of windseeker two seasons later....now that's what I call some major investing on their part & it's surely paying off. -

That's probably true. I highly doubt it what with new management in charge.Rmember folks,Kinzel's gone at the end of this year. -

Anything would be better than hurler. Agreed. Plus it would restore the coveted "most launched coasters in a single park" record. Any idea on when ground breaking for windseeker might begin? I guess they'll be setting up a staging area in either the maintenance yard or parking lot(where they staged I305's parts) sometime soon.I'm thinking that WS will go more closer to americana than ED as there's more room for a wrap around queue over there. -

They're expanding it? I guess they discovered a new species at the last minute....one that feeds exclusively on Kinzel's remains as it's primary source of nutrition. -
Adam, it wasn't aliens. It was mutant chipmunks that are preparing to take over the world, and are starting they're diabolical plan by screwing SFA in every way possible. KD is just the first to figure out this heinous plan, and wants to make sure every coaster fan on the planet knows about it. Let's not start that please.I'm only going on the recent past history with rides being relocated to the park only to just sit there & rot rather than be installed, granted UT wasn't the best ride on the face of the earth but at least it was something. Now I don't know if they'll invest in new trains when really the only thing new trains would provide are the new style standup restraints, which IW's current trains already have, plus the track has been refined a bit between the time that IW & the vortex twins debutted so there's the possibility that new trains may not even be compatible with this particular ride.
