  1. Perhaps there were only two, rather than three windseekers purchased as originally rumored? I don't see where CF would put a third one other than at WOF or perhaps VF.
  2. Sad to see that & think "why did discovery channel pull the plug on their annual thrills, chills & spills series?" I used to watch every year & even record the shows every memorial day starting way back in 96 when the first program,Wild rides aired that summer.Unfortunately their obsession with "reality" TV shows had started to take over by that time & it seemed that building motorcycles became more of an interest to the audience(or so the network had hoped) than an annual series that had a devoted fanbase for close to a decade.
  3. Yeah me too after I saw the video report from WCN on my FB page, the guy hosting the report must've gotten it wrong though because that was footage of the tornado the crossed I-95 near Quantico.
  4. Anyone know if the park sustained any damage from yesterday's tornadoes? I saw a report saying that a tornado had crossed I 95 near KD during rush hour yesterday.
  5. You know,I see the DA entrance going behind windseeker & around Grizzly's far turn so I think that the go-karts will be safe from removal,at least for the 2012 season. Should be interesting to see how management ever makes use of the land south of rebel yell/waterworks,that is if they ever put anything back there in the near future....with all that land does anyone think the park has the potential to double in size in the future?
  6. It must be a California thing because I've NEVER seen them show such disrespect to guests at KD or even SFA for that matter during their halloween events.
  7. A solid double or even triple out & back would make fora far better hyper woodie than SOB did & if only they'd take my advice they'd gain more space for it by giving hurler it's walking papers.
  8. I dunno,I found the exterior themeing for medievl macabre to be pretty good looking compared to in year's past.
  9. With Windseeker going on the ED footprint does anyone think we may see an impulse possible added along the strip where XLC's launch was sometime in the future?
  10. Saturday the park was packed in the afternoon when we got there around 1:30/2 pm.
  11. By any chance did you see the rather odd breakdown on Dominator last night?A couple of proxy switches in the station got knocked out of place somehow resulting in a setup & shutdown....should known something was up when the train overshot the station & had to be reversed just so they could park for unload. I spent the Whole day sleeping today thanks to getting home at 3:30/4 am sunday morning....we left at about 11:30 saturday night but didn't get out of the lot for a good hour or so.
  12. They would need to be two abreast for the SLC as the structural clearances won't allow for a four abreast model.
  13. I'd have to agree,my guess is the queue will go around that front path & it leaves the XLC spot open to future development. I'm going tomorrow to check out haunt, anyone know if they've got the sliders on central stalkway this year?
  14. El Dorado is now closed & walled up while deconstruction of the ride is taking place....looks like windseeker will occupy it's space after all as I thought it would go more near the spot where HSXLC's vertical tower was so as to allow more clearance for the swings.
  15. So did Premier Rides Design the Trains that were manufactured by Spectrum for the Flight of Fear Coasters & Backlot Coasters, or the Wood Coaster Trains for SOB & Wild Wild West, the Six Flags Spaghetti Bowls, & Speed Manufactured by Schäfer? Didn't Premier design & manufacture the LIM bowls at both KI & KD as well as their two outdoor counterparts in the SF chain? As far as I know no third party was involved in the design of those rides.
  16. Actually, the story I heard (and I tend to believe) was that Stealth was not the huge success they had thought it was going to be. When Paramount saw that such a big thrill ride didn’t bring the crowds in that they had hoped they put the brakes on thrill rides and decided to go in a completely different direction…the direction of the family market. Hypersonic was then shipped to PKD and Stealth was given it’s walking papers. Since the market they decided to go after was families instead of thrill seeking teens the land that Stealth once occupied was developed into a family friendly water park. Not exactly Shane. The problem with Stealth was in the design & poor engineering on vekoma's part, hence the reasoning behind why Paramount cancelled the exclusive contract for the flying dutchman coasters they'd originally signed with vekoma, who helped co-develop the ride concept at the last minute leaving two completly fabricated rides (x-flight & batwing) with nowhere to go that is until six flags picked them up....SFA for instance had planned to install a 140 ft. tall,3,000 ft. long B&M standup coaster for 01(attraction # 37 on their detailed site plans) but that got cancelled & batwing took it's place with hypersonic going to KD as the replacement for the flying dutchman coaster instead of going to CGA,which recieved a mouse in 01 as a result of that last minute change.
  17. I don't know if they'd go as far as putting LIM'S/LSM's on a vekoma invert as A:that's a modification to the design not approved by vekoma & B:the reason vekoma never went with a LIM/LSM system was because it proved unsuccessful in the original invertigo design, which originally called for LIM's instead of the lift chain. Designing a new train however is something Premier can be contracted for however as they did train builds for other coasters such as SOB so this should prove to be interesting.
  18. Sure they could, just weled the connector ties on the inside of the rails instead of the outside & have it connected to the sidewall of the box track.
  19. How so? Spinning close to the ground or pointing towards the ground at the bottom of a dive could be some terrific thrills not requiring a huge amount of height... Bigger is not always better... Yeah, but as I said before, the turning of the seats are the result of the coasters force, and the lower the force, the less intensely the seats would spin, and also if it were to stay close to the ground, it'd have less options of elements. How is that? The current 4D system relies on spacing between the running rails & a secondary rail that carries the rack & pinion system that allows the seats to rotate.
  20. Already saw that on KD's facebook. How's the area for windseeker looking so far?
  21. I do want to go, but I can't school, homework, etc. So try to go on a saturday then.
  22. I share that sentiment as my first looper was anaconda some 19 years ago,I've also had the pleasure of riding all three of his creations at BGW during my visit in 97 & despite what others have said through the years since DF's removal I found it to be a very smooth & exciting ride. Arrow coasters have that special "something" that B&M & Intamin just can't match, sure we consider Arrow rides rough by today's standards but the creations that flowed from Ron's engineering mind & genius are classics in their own right & we must always remember where those rides,as well as those of today came from.
  23. Did you attend haunt last year?It was pretty good then so I'm expecting the same level of quality again this year as well.
  24. So true as many of us got our start in riding steel coasters that were more than likely the creation of Ron's handywork long before the days of Intamin,Vekoma & B&M's mass produced rides. Toomer saw many trends in the industry during his career, from the early development of the SF & Taft parks with their wide selection of family & thrill coasters to the latest round of the coaster evolution in height & speed that he helped usher in over 20 years ago...he was a true pioneer & will be sorely missed.
  25. Nobody knows for certain as Arrow was based in Clearfield Utah, which is where I imagine Toomer would've spent most of his time following his retirement.I wonder if any of the trade publications would have any info on this?
