1. ^Depending on how much room DA takes up they'll probably have enough room for at least one more coaster on that side of the park & they could make good use of it by adding a mid sized invert over there.
2. Just how much land does the park have in between WWC & the highway?
3. ^I'm just waiting for them to mess up on the deconstruction of IW just so they can have an excuse to not relocate the ride or install it like they did with UT back in 05.
4. I doubt they'll ever see one. A Wingrider somewhere else in the park seems more likely going by current trends, and Old Virginia deserves more love than there IMO. This is purely speculation, but if they do anything back there, they should just tear down Hurler, and replace it with a wooden twister- as they already have three other out and back woodies. I rather have a Wingrider. They look awesome! I just want an invert that doesn't beat the crap out of me & has more varied elements than volcano along with a decent ride time & capacity.
5. Now just get a B&M invert back there & I'll really be happy.
6. While the station was wide the distance between the entry & exit platforms was not & certainly wouldn't accomodate a four abreast coaster train since the boats were only two abreast, which isn't that wide.
7. Nice one!!! They will need a good maitenance crew, so they could fix Top Thrill Clogs. LMAO!!!! Don't you mean "top thrill "dumpster"? (and now I don't mean a garbage can here as CP's already got enough of em).
8. That & SM's boats were only two abreast while IW's trains are 4 abreast so the old SM station wouldn't be wide enough.
9. When Travis was working the ride back in 08/09 he was doing a good job of loading & dispatching but now that he's an area supervisor(his area covers that ride go figure) operations have really lapsed big time....I've seen crews at SFA that do better & we all know how they are. Anyone recieve the 2012 season pass mailer today? I got one in the mail even though I renewed my pass last weekend when I was down there.
10. Probably, but only the former paramount parks at least.
11. ^Now you see why I left this park in favor of KD a few years ago? I'm hoping that this may be the start of a turn around for them....only time will tell.
12. Each row can hold probably 7-8 trains worth of riders. When I rode, it was about a six train wait, and it took 30-40 minutes. To put it into perspective, the ride was running two trains, is a little under 4000 ft long, and has a ride time somewhere around 3 minutes. On most trains, the loading gates wouldn't open until AFTER the second train had stopped outside the station on the brake run. I've never seen any other B&M dispatch one train every 5 minutes, including flyers, even when only one was running (except La Ronde's Goliath with one train). Good lord & it takes that long?Dominator can barely hold two trains worth per row & it takes a LONG time these days just to get into the station even if the line is only at the top of the stairs,I guess we can blame CF's station design of having no switchbacks between the steps & the gates for that one.
13. Nahh, the dippin dots guy said t hat they've invested in the worlds biggest loudest toilet for 2013 & it'll be called Millenium Flush to compliment the new plumber's world theme they're going with.
14. Boy do I remember that as even Grizz had a line for the first time that I could ever recall in recent years.
15. Yes. People tend to hang around the rides that don't beat the living crap out of you. Then what are they doing hanging around volcano? I had a huge headache after coming off that thing saturday night.
16. I was actually referring to the windseeker page as it does give a ride locator feature on the park map on the site now.
17. I may have seen him over by the smoking area near the restrooms by anaconda on saturday, but then again the guy I talked to was on sweeper duty at the time & I didn't happen to see his nametag.Fran was doing a great job over at wave swinger too when compared to the ops on some of the other rides that day. Anyone notice that ED's lights weren't even on/working saturday night? I guess they're serious about removing it but I havn't seen wether the 2012 map is even posted on the official page yet.
18. The general forecast is for rain pretty much all week long. IIRC KD is now closed for the month until haunt begins in october so you're not gonna be able to get that one in but I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong on this.
19. And this is what happens when a p[ark, any park becomes too hyperfoused on one target demographic...sure the park improves in one area but at the same time it stagnates in the others.
20. ^^Not so easy when the restraints sometimes jame up plus the addition of lapbelts makes it even more difficult to get in & out.
21. I know' the Skull looks so cool. Are they destroying the mountain or the Skull's face itself? The YouTube video of Apocalypse features a Skull Face, so why not keep it and find some nice way to incorporate with the ride? Or for theme keep some of the boats, put skeletons in them and position them at various points near the ride, to match the Apocalypse theme. It would look great while riding. I think they'll just keep it as it means less work & WO won't have to be shut down during the demolition.
22. I agree completely here- KD does, for it's best efforts, a phenominal job. They might not be perfect, and they might have issues stacking, but on a whole, they do a good, reputable job with keeping things moving. And I've seen -FAR- worse examples at other parks, too. If you think there's an issue stacking with employees at KD, go 90 miles north to SFA. And then see who's doing a better job. Actually it wasn't too long ago(maybe as early as 08) when they were doing a heck of a decent job checking most trains, now that seems to have fallen by the wayside a bit lately, heck I don't even hear them say "check" anymore like they're supposed to when checking restraints these days.....still the I305 crew was doing a super job loading & dispatching trains on saturday afternoon when we rode.
23. Rebel yell runs with a red & blue train on each side now a days so they are able to alternate on both sides in such a way where it's red vs blue on northside & then the next dispatch it's blue vs red on northside.
24. I dunno,I've never seen the queue chained up like that before plus leaving trains on track rather than moving at least one offline & onto storage. Your description makes what the other poster said make perfect sense. They were probably running it during the day then at some point do to employees taking lunch break and/or going home ran out of employees to run both sides. Also probably next week they will have one side shut down for the rest of the year anyway, they do every year because of staffing during school. By the way, when did they add this game in front of Anaconda? I love the fact a park finally added this: And on a side note, while walking to Dominator this evening I heard the real song but I immediately had in my head this version : Must be new because I sure didn't see that midway game on my visit saturday.
25. I have a feelomg that we'll be seeing this name change across the board.much like we saw with the addition of PS replacing the nick themed kiddie areas as of last season.
