Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread

I should hope so. The only parks remaining for coasters are Dorney with CGA's invertigo & I believe VF is rumored to get one of Dorney's kidde coasters that's being removed to make way for the project.KI I think will take a break coasterwise again as there hasn't been any activity like we saw at CWL with their new giga so that leaves Carowinds,WOF & KD as the remaining major parks on the list for additions. -

While Steve may have confirmed that he didn't say we weren't getting a ride as well. -
Link Did the site remove members? I tried to login twice & my username/password no longer work. Should be interesting to see how they plan to improve operations on this ride, too bad the other two were removed cuz it looks like a good concept of an existing vekoma product(boomerang/invertigo) but was poorly executed from an engineering standpoint.

I make the 6-hour round trip to GAdv usually three times a year because El Toro is probably the greatest coaster to ever hit the States. But the old ones are still great too! Plus, they can fit a kick*ss Intamin prefab in all that space Hurler takes up. Call it Son of Hurler. Perfect. No thanks(to the ride name) but to the ride itself heck yeah!!! Well CP just announced that they're getting next to nothing for 2012 so that may mean more capital for KD to work with...I so hope we get an announcement soon already. -

I second that!!! I dare anyone to touch my favorite woodie in the park in such a negative manner. They can torch hurler & have JBD play "light my fire" as the musical score however. LOL!! -

Well the GP aren't gonna see it that way they'll see it as "ohh let's ride the new coaster that we just got" rather than ignoring it regardless of the fact that it's from the same company. -

Ok so KD should take a step backwards & add a B&M hyper....of course I want a B&M invert for the park as their next coaster. As far as this ride goes it's about time to see B&M do something they swore they'd never attempt...funny how they're going back to their old style trains for this one though but after my two rides on Intimidator at carowinds I can say that I don't care much for their new style trains. -
Honestly I'm thinking the same thing. We have only heard one project worldwide for Intamin next year and B&M has three already (The Swarm, Leviathan, Dollywood 2012) and I think they have one or more still up there sleeve. So where does that leave the Intamins? Either they are having a soft year because people don't want to spend money (Yeah right; have you seen B&M prices?) or they still have announcements to make in the coming months. Hopefully this is the year Six Flags returns to active partnership with the #1 coaster builders on the planet. I don't think so,I mean why if SFI is swimming in loot are they now relocating at least two coasters to other parks to pass off as "new"?It's because all that hapless spending of the past decade has come back to bite them in the a$$ that's why.

Well I wouldn't mind a B&M hyper at KD to go along with our giga(my GF refuses to ride I305) for the chickens who won't go on it...let alone near it. -

You quite possibly are as you're trying to prject the image to be of something you want, rather than what's really there. Any time a park gets ready to announce it's new "toy" of course the internet traffic increases as regardless of where it's at everyone wants to know....I'm just betting that there will be people saying "I'm not gonna ride it cuz the layout isn't what I thought or wanted" (like we saw with some of the KD fanboys who got overworked about I305 when they saw the layout two years ago) sp no doubt we'll get the same complaints about this ride as well. -

Perhaps there was a flaw with the newer "V" style trains? -

Both of you should just skip hurler alltogether, unless you're asking for pain.Shockwave isn't too bad in row 1,car 4 & anaconda is a bit smoother towards the front but is a PAIN near the back. -

Have you got insider connections within the CF chain Steve? You seem to claim to know about most of CF's 2012 projects so far than most...just thought I'd ask. My bets are on a simple out & back model for the layout of this ride, perhaps with the diving curve we've seen on many of their hypers lately such as Nitro & carowinds' intimidator just to name a few. -

Based on my weekday experience I'd start out with Afterburn & Intimidator first, most other rides in the park are walk ons until the waterpark closes for the day. -

That would be the sloped brakerun & mag brakes.Carowinds Intimidator has an angled brake run that levels out as it turns into the station. -

Aren't ya'll expected to get a windseeker along with carowinds & KD? I could be wrong but maybe we'll see new coasters in the CF chain & no flats but time will tell. -

X-works has NOTHING to do with the coaster type as B&M have been using that code at the Ohio plant for the past three seasons now....long before the wingrider prototype opened in Europe. -

As much as I'd LOVE for that to happen I highly doubt it will....we'll be lucky if we get a windseeker along with the rumored DA,which I'd rather see as "DD" (Dinosaurs dead) LOL!!! -
SFI has to economize & relocating rides from other parks is the way to do it. Let's face it the days of marketing both SFMM & CP as having more coasters than any other park are over, they no longer have the advantage of free advertising via discovery channel at either park as the days of coaster shows on that network are LONG past so there's not as much incentive to adding coaster after coaster to either park year after year as there was a decade ago. Besides that nobody cares in the GP about such a stupid title.Perhaps MM is realizing that they need to focus on providing other rides & not just coasters to keep the crowds returning? The park REALLY could do with some flats to even things out.

CF has been working really hard to improve the former paramount parks, having been to Carowinds recently I noticed as a first time vistor a very well landscaped park with a fairly decent ride selection & CWL should be no different as KD has also seen improvements in landscaping & operations as well, not to mention ride installations. Not all parks choose to mark an anniversary season with some huge E-ticket ride such as a coaster, heck using KD as an example all they got for their 30th back in 05 was a floorless topspin but nobody complained abut it as more rides were soon on the way. -

Well it's been four years since their last coaster so this does seem like a good time for a new ride.Seems like B&M may have figured out that if Intamin can build two gigas thus far & have them run consistently well at the parks they're in then the time is right for them to enter the market as well, not to mention the market saturation for their other designs minus the DM. This reminds me of the debate we had over I305 when parts began showing up...especially the base of the lift when everyone swore it was gonna be a vertical coaster like HP's & it turned out to be a giga after all....should be interesting to see how this unfolds. -

All B&M's have that slanted section for the connection between the station & running track,it allows for the addition of the braking components. I still say this is a floorless since CF never bought into the whole flyer craze like SFI did well over a decade ago.
