  1. ^While they do have plenty of land then why remove SM in the first place? they could easily put a new ride in between batwing & ROS without the added demolition costs for the water ride so my guess is that it would have to fit in that specific space that SM currently takes up. Even with this coaster coming(whatever it is) it will still take a LOT of work on SFI's part to turn the park around to make me want to return, for starters remove the l0kerz & the paid line jumping system & continue adding new rides & coasters on a consistent basis like they did in the beginning & then I just might consider coming back & giving the park another chance.
  2. Most cedar fair parks announce in august so I suppose we'll find out in a couple weeks what we're getting.
  3. No as A: that ride is no longer in repairable condition & B:SFI no longer has ownership of it. They could always be getting a new compact standup design from B&M,after all didn't someone report seeing B&M reps in the park a while back? & just because B&M havn't been building new standups lately doesn't mean they havn't gotten orders from parks for one.
  4. I think he meant that the alleged plans that were shelved in favor of Batwing would be making their return, however, with all the chatter about Iron Wolf going to Maryland, I don't think a decade old idea would be resurrected. Sadly that's a likely probability. Perhaps if this relocation goes over well then maybe they''l add other new rides as well, like a new coaster to replace two face in SWT.
  5. http://screamscape.com/html/six_flags_america.htm That could be for the 140ft tall standup that was replaced by Batwing 11 years ago....it was attraction #37 on the original 99 DSP for the park.I so wish I could find the printout I made of that list years ago.
  6. If we're getting a flat then the parts would most likely be delivered to the maintenance warehouse adjacent to the season pass lot,I seem to recall seeing the parts for ED & Americana stored there when they were delivered.
  7. Looks like my plans to visit this week are shot. Ohh well I'll still go on the 13th however.
  8. Well, I figure they have a lost continent type feel, which is what they were originally going for, as the Lost World was the name of the mountain originally. Anaconda could fit that, but not Congo. (Anacondas are from South America.) I realize that we have Paramount actually to blame for the themeing screw ups, but I don't see CF making it better. I don't really get why, when they have hundreds of acres to expand upon, they feel like they have to continue boxing the park in and mess up what little themeing there is left. True & twenty years ago that area was entirely themed as safari village, but of course paramount didn't exactly adhere to the theme by placing rides like backlot over there.LWFM was originially to be an area all it's own but as we now know the novelty of it's attractions decreased somewhat as time went on. Now as we know CF doesn't specialize in theming so to speak & that most of their rides are pretty generic, still they've done a great job landscaping I-street & parts of the grove with the pavers which not only look good but greatly reduce the radiant heat being produced thus making it more comfortable on a hot day.
  9. I think they'll get something new & not another used coaster that'll end up sitting in the boneyard rusting away for years since, unlike with UT they're removing a ride & making space for it. Not sure if the archives go back far enough(it has been over a decade) but the pg county planning board site might have the info pertaining to the 99 site plan filings.I know screamscape had them for a while but since removed them.
  10. Yes, like I said, I made this a couple days ago when there was only a "Huss GF" marker when it was first posted on Screamscape. Then, the new markers around the park (like the "GCI" one) were spotted which made it clear it was just another Carowinds trick. Still it doesn't rule out such a ride at KD,a windseeker would fit nicely over there as well.
  11. ^I think it'd fit nicely in that location if we ever get one. We also need more flats over in congo as that has become a bit too coaster heavy over the years.
  12. They could put one in the grove in front of the diner & give it a 50's theme...I kinda think they should theme that little section to a 50's area as it's already got the diner & the mouse is a late 50's era coaster along with el dorado having a 50's themed ride car.
  13. Not quite,it's kinda kitty corner to the skycoaster but the rest of that area like in front of the diner is open so a flat like a windseeker or frisbee can fit there.
  14. They should save t he spot behind the theatre for a new invert & add a flat in the grove where HSXLC was.
  15. Checked on FB recently & KD says they'll announce their "2012 product' soon, some are speculating that it just might be a windseeker as one person did mention Mondial by name.
  16. I doubt it,it'll probably be a generic theme like at KI or CP.
  17. I'd like a regular frisbee @ KD,or CGA's delerium.
  18. So that's why the carowinds thread has come out of hibernation? I hope we get a regular frisbee & not a giant as I HATE their restraints which is why I won't ride Crypt anymore...of course a windseeker on the spot where hypersonic was would be good too & would creat a tower triangle of sorts with DT to the east,WS to the west & ET to the center north.
  19. ^Nice. Any ideas on what we may be getting in 2012? My guess is it'll be a small addition since they usually announce the major invcestments right around late july/early august.
  20. I'm well aware of the history of the park & it's struggles & part of that has a great deal to do with the owners not having the cashflow needed to fincance large expansions....keep in mind that prior to Premier purchasing the park in 92 it had gone out of business as the previous owners went bankrupt & couldn't even generate the cash needed for maintenance & operations let alone adding new rides. When premiere "flagged" the park as a result of the SFI purchase/takeover they were finally starting to turn things around by adding new rides, thus bringing in more crowds but after 01 that stopped & they abandoned the detailed site plans filed in 99 that included at least 8 to 10 rides to be built in the future...PBR was the last ride from that list that actually got built but the 120ft wheel & dark ride/coaster for instance never got built because, starting in 02 SFI got it in their heads that only the larger parks(SFMM & SFGRADV in particular were t he only parks they care about.GL/SFWOA,DL,EG,SFAW & the European parks all suffered as a result of that strategy & were either sold off or closed as a result.
  21. The scale of your ride is off in that picture; it's out of frame by about 20%... and it would be squeezing the site WAAAY too much to fit nicely. As much as I'd like to see a more 'classic' B&M Standup at SFA, I don't see it- Georgia Scorcher would be the only design that could fit the plot nicely, and that too would be a tight squeeze to say the least. The reason I say the B&M Floorless Compact model is this: 1.) Not as expensive as a 'full-size (Medusa, Bizarro, etc.) coaster 2.) Has a two-train capacity, ensuring a single-train at all times capacity at SFA 3.) would look good on the site without drowning out the other rides around it (As much as I liked TS/SM there, it DID distract from Wild One). And that's even guessing it's a new coaster, too. They won't be getting a floorless as the park had said something in the past I recall about the county ot approving of the open train design as it relates to emergency evacuations even though B&M provide the platforms that fit between each row for just such a purpose....besides SFA has long been the red-headed stepchild of the chain over the past decade & were deemed long ago to be "unworthy" of a B&M calibur coaster, otherwise they would've gotten one long ago. My guess would be yet another water ride of somse sort but regardless of whatever they get it will take a LOT of work in all areas of the park, from rides & maintenance to operations & management improvements before my friends & I even think of setting foot in this park again.
  22. Safe to say that my Wolfie is safe <3333 You guys can keep it. I'll be darned if we who live in the vicinity of SFA have waited over ten years for a coaster just to end up getting that POS.
  23. Same thing with SFMM's Deja Vu going to SFNE.....I wonder where people get these rumors. That's certainly not gonna happen as they could've sent SFOG or SFGRAM's DV to SFNE instead of selling them to other parks outside the chain....the only reason SFMM keeps theirs is for their stupid count. With SFGRADV relocating chang could it be possible that the standup proposed back in 99 is now back on the table? this is a new management team/ownership from what the park had in the premiere parks days after all.
  24. Kings dominon golden years has some pics on their facebook page showing it.
  25. Oh yeah, I had that same memory flash that also included THE LOST WORLD. As for that spinning flat ride in Candy Apple Grove, there were two of them: the Apple Turnover and an Octopus ride that was called The Mad Apple. Anybody got any more nostagic things from KINGS DOMINION they would love to share on this post? "I've got one - the times when I was used plenty of times before this website came along and I ended up spending my time on the bed lonely. But I'm still smiling!" They also had vertigo & flying bobs in the grove section as well.
