  1. Supposedly the DA thing is going in between Grizzly & WWC(so much for getting a future B&M invert there) with the rumored windseeker ggoing where HSXLC's vertical tower was.
  2. Like I posted before it looks like they're using scorcher in the media campaign for the ride...what you're seeing as sparks below the train is probably just the sunlight in the background & will probably be revealed in further detail as they start revealing more hints. BTW is anyone else having trouble with the boards today?I can't even view the boards on IE9,all I get is just a black screen with a disney ad in the upper left corner & had to use firefox instead.
  3. Maryland Scorcher, anyone? Or a GA Scorcher clone. I'd take that over IW any day.
  4. Vortex can stay down as it's a POS that I'd never ride again.
  5. Looks like the train colors will be brown....IW's trains are silver but of course they could repaint them & the track color appears to be a yellow/orange color.I really wonder now that I think about it if those are the train colors on GA scorcher? of course they could just use that ride's photo in the marketing hints kinda like they used a shot of Medusa east back in 02 for Scream's announcement.
  6. I wouldn't want to be walking on that section of the ramp should it happen to collapse.
  7. There aren't many standups in the US to begin with so the GP will see this type of ride as something never before done when it debuts next season what with the only nearby standups being at KD & Carowinds...sure SFGRADV got a used standup but how many of the GP in MD.(the park's target demographic) even attend SFGRADV,let alone are aware that they now have a standup? Edit: It appears that the ride is replacing SM Palmerberry as the sign in front of the area indicates that SM is being removed to make way for something new & as we know the two face area has been vacant for a while now.I wonder if they'll retheme skull island to somehow make the coaster fit the themed section better?I don't hardly think an apocolyptic themed coaster would fit well in a pirate themed section of the park.
  8. I sure felt it up here in my area for a good 45 seconds or so.Latest update on the KD facebook is that most,if not all rides have now re-opened.Someone on FB posted that he was on anaconda's lift when the quake hit & that the ride really shook like mad. Makes me wonder if a small quake hit on the 13th?I remember getting off Dominator in the evening & feeling the exit platform shake pretty bad between the station & the first set of stairs....and no a train wasn't passing by over the station flyby prior to the cobra roll at the time.
  9. Where would Iron Wolf go though? A standup hasn't been made since 1999, that was a long time ago. Maybe they'll refurbish it? That would do a lot of good IMO. If IW is too worn out to be refurbished it'll be scrapped. To most people today they'll see a standup as a new ride type never seen before, don't forget that the GP has no idea that other standups exist....the problem here is we're assuming that the GP has the same knowledge as we do about every single coaster/ride in the world when,in reality they don't. Second:B&M WILL build a new standup if SFA,KD or any other park orders one as there's no expiration by which manufacturers use for their products.....chances are this might very well be a new design along the lines of chang/GL as it seems SFI might be willing to invest in new standups again since they are under new ownership after all.
  10. Don't be so sure on that, just because B&M havn't built a new standup since SFOG's scorcher doesn't mean they won't if SFA asks them to do so.
  11. From what I read on another site it was said that IW was too old/worn out to be put back into service so could this mean that the standup for 2012 may be a new design alltogether? It's obvious by the clue "standing orders inside" that it's the standup coaster that was recently approved by the zoning board.
  12. No,they're supposed to announce on the 24th.
  13. It can't be denied that SFMM needs flats. However, when the park promotes itself as having more coasters than any other park, then removes one of them (and a pretty decent ride at that), it seems mind-boggling. I think most of the speculation relates to Deja Vu's replacement, and, possibly, the fact that most So Cal parks (heck, US parks, right?) are getting pretty substantial rides for 2012. Well then perhaps SFI needs to look at promoting the park in a different way?The promotions used a decade ago are outdated as you're dealing with a new generation of guests & parks often do change their marketing strategies from time to time...perhaps they should focus more on their waterpark for instance & then market that as "more waterslides than anywhere else" as opposed to just throwing in coasters all the time.
  14. The problem there is where in the current footprint of the PS area could such a ride be placed? Of course SSD could be removed & you'd have more room there to put such a ride in so as to compliment flying ace & give that area a much needed boost. When I went to carowinds earlier this month I was suprised with the look & f eel of their PS area as compared to ours....it's as though CF & KD didn't really put all that much effort into it at all. Perhaps we'll see an announcement of some sort by labor day weekend? I'll be going to the park again that saturday(hopefully with a better forecast than last week's visit) & plan to get my pass renewed as well.....is anyone else planning to go that day?
  15. Was reading something regarding IW on another board in which someone had mentioned hearing that SFI has deemed the ride too old to be relocated....if this turns out to be true then the approved standup for SFA might just turn out to be a new design after all.
  16. One of the THBS/Pandamonium spinners would be a good addition to PS or kidzville & would be somewhat thrilling enough to satisfy the older crowd but of course we'll be lucky to get a windseeker for 2012 & I'm beginning to have my doubts about getting even that right now.
  17. They're getting the money by simply withholding expenditures to other parks that's how.
  18. SFA has a height limit of 200' from grade. Even if they built the ride on a 8 1/2' tall platform, they could still build it within regulations (the ride is only 191' tall)... Not on the former two fa ce footprint as that area is zoned for 140 feet max.
  19. SFA couldn't install it due to the height restrictions....just be fortunate that SFNE is getting something, they became just another of SFI's "favorited" parks over the years & Shapiro really spoiled them during his run since he has family up there & all.
  20. Why not a B&M mega? I'd much rather see a B&M invert of course after riding Afterburn @ Carowinds, now THAT was one sweet a$$ed ride that IMO was even better than their B&M hyper I must say.
  21. No.With Kinzel out at CF the pointless coaster wars are over at least for now since neither CF,nor SFI cannot affford to keep throwing in coaster after coaster at one park just to maintain a stupid title especially since the locals in the GP(the parks' target audiences) don't even know that the other park exists. SFMM NEEDS to work on their flat ride selection to even things out as they can't hardly expect to gain a foothold on the family market(remember families bring in more money than the SP toting teenagers do) by adding rides not geared to their needs as well. The park has enough coasters for now but from what I understand there are like only 3 or 4 flats that those who don't enjoy coasters can ride & that's what they need to work on.
  22. Could be,granted that was the paramount parks strategy although CF has seemed to follow it too. Still while SSS is geared toward families it's not necessarily a tangible attraction like say a ride installtion would've been in PS/kidzville so they may choose to add yet another thing for the kids/family in 2012 but of course they could add something for the thrillseekers too...they did just a decade ago with ricochet/TS which turned out to be a rather winning formula in my book as both of those rides provide a thrill but are still mild enough for kids/families to enjoy together.
  23. For me personally, I'd like to see a NEW COASTER (Breaking Wind doesn't count) at least every 2 - 3 years. This is a long wait for a new ride (a real coaster) until 2013. Bummer Well it's only half as long as SFA had to wait...then again given the way UT "worked out" I just know they'll find some way to screw up their "new" for 2012 attraction too.
  24. Ok so if you know so much then tell us(in the KD thread) what we're getting already. With the new CEO being a former Disney CEO I think it's safe to say the coaster wars are over, after all it was Kinzel's management strategy that dreamt it up in the first place but now that he's soon to be gone we'll probably see more of a balance coming to the parks.
  25. I'm not complaining because it's in Canada & not the continental USA. Now I will be complaining however if all we end up getting is that DA thing.
