  1. When I last rode Roar in 07 it was running so badly that the ops were actually instructed to operate each train at only a half load, the ride would improve greatly with new GCI trains since PTC's don't track well on twister layouts like the type Roar has. When the ride first opened in 98 it became one of my favorites in the park & also never had much of a line but it quickly went downhill & became the 2nd roughest woodie I've ridden being beaten only by KD's hurler.
  2. I've been thinking about giving them another chance but it's much harder to convince my friends to follow suit, especially since one of them does the driving.I do recall of operations being fairly decent until things started going downhill in the middle portion of the last decade & what with the former regime's money grabbing efforts my friends & I had had enough, especially the no loose items allowed on certain ride stations policy used by Shapiro as a means of making money....is that stupid policy still in effect at the park?
  3. From pics I've seen they are indeed the original trains, does anyone know if the guage on B&M's sandups was changed between IW & the larger rides like Mantis or RR? that may explain why new trains weren't ordered for the ride.
  4. Any news out of the park on construction progress? They're taking their sweet time with this one.
  5. I'd have to agree about the little things that matter, like KD renovating the paths by replacing the blacktop with pavers for instance.
  6. I think it'd look better if the cobra rolls were facing each other...or the lifts but not one in front of the other, that just looks messed up to me.
  7. For the love of humanity no!!All of a sudden I'm having nightmares about seeing anaconda painted in these colors yuck!!!
  8. Even with the addition of I305 the first thing I see from I95 headingsouth is ET,it usually pops into view just south of the Camel church/Bowling Green exit.
  9. Was a weight drop shuttle looper similar to KD's King Kobra. Having visited this park last summer I've been looking for historical info on it lately & came across a retro site via the carowinds connection page.
  10. So heading south on 95 what pops into view first? ET or windseeker?
  11. I never quite understood why SFI didn't just relocate this ride to another park that met the height restrictions instead of modifying it?I still find it odd that they were even able to get zoning approval for it when they knew it would exceed SFDK's height restriction even before the first piece was installed.
  12. Troika's don't appear to be plauged with the problems that the top spins & the giant frisbees have lately & don't forget we've got knock off versions of some of their rides being produced by other firms as well.
  13. ^Good point on the flats but with those since there are so many moving parts that need to be repaired replaced(depending on what the ride does & how forces have an effect on it) we can see why some have become harder to find lately....of course using the chaos as an example it was an issue of a flawed restraint design that led to parks taking steps to remove them unfortunately.
  14. Is that a B&M or intamin? can't really tell from the resoultion & colors....any hoo I'd fix that bottom support just a tad as it looks as though it wouldn't be very stable at that angle if built IRL.
  15. ^No offense but we see that sort of complaining in the CGA thread all the time & posts havn't been deleted, people are gonna voice their negative opinions about a specific park in a given thread regardless...that's just the way public forums on any given subject works be it video games, politics or theme parks. I'm hoping SFA will improve but it's gonna take them alot of work before I feel confident enough as a customer to return again, the decisions made concerning the management/operations of the park over the past decade really left a bad feeling in my mind & they need to work really hard to change that.
  16. Well, from what I've just heard Dominator was indeed made for Kentucky Kingdom. Dominator was supposed to be built in the vampire old spot as well as the squids dry slides spot. Steel Venom could as well been originally planed for the park as well. Looking at Dominator Design/map below, their is space for a impulse coaster right behind Dominator. Steel Venom would occupy the spot Greezed Lighting occupy today. It seems things changed as soon as Six Flags purchased Geauga Lake. So as soon as that happen, Six Flags quickly purchased Road Runner Express, and In 2001, Six Flags added Sky Coaster to fill the blank space in the park. Actually SFI/Premier parks owned GL as early as 94/95 so it had nothing to do with the park in Ohio.Kk was the first park in premier parks chain to be flagged in 98 when SFI was purchased by them with GL,AW,EG & DL all being flagged for the 99 season.
  17. Funny how KD came from behind to get the tower up before carowinds did.not they have to install the carousel portion & the seats before starting the first test runs.
  18. Sorry for the double post but windseeker has been topped off!!!
  19. So it was right at the entrance to the sidewinder?SFA's on ride camera for ME was in roughly the same spot.
  20. It's just as close to the closest major city (Buffalo) as is Darien Lake. Don't Marineland commercials even run on the American television stations? They are still competitors. Even without competition from nearby parks DL would have to work even harder to keep the locals interested in the place & that means investing money in new attractions...having competition nearby only makes it worse if the park isn't keeping up.
  21. YUUUP: Bush Beast from RCDB.com Australia's Wonderland was a co-op between KECO and local developers- which explains the lineage of Bush Beast to Grizzly (GA). I wonder if those trains were the orignals from KD? KD got the newer ones with the ratcheting bars to replace the ones that the ride first opened with in 82.
  22. Couldn't agree more,CGA's version is mirrored as well.
  23. Is grizzly still running the Morgan coffin car trains? Changing over to two bench PTC's would probably help smoothen the ride greatly, along with the retracking.
  24. DA is going in the wooded area in between grizzly & WWC just behind the go-karts.I just hope they save enough room for an extra ride or two to go in the remaining woods since OV could use some flats or even a small coaster like a mine train or something along those lines. Edit: Just a small update, the support columns for windseeker's seats recently arrived....photo's are up on KD's facebook.
  25. SFGRADV doesn't need any more rides for a while period because they can't even staff all of the rides they have from what I hear & SFA has no really good flats remaining for SFMM to get.
