  1. That would be rediculously stupid... They could just have the Fast Lane users walk up the exit... According to KI's facebook response they indicated that KD will probably do it the way KI does which is to merge guests in the regular line. CFC: According to KI's page they don't have designated rows unlike the SF parks, hence the reason for merging guests at the entrance.
  2. The restraints are the same, other than color that was used at SFGRAM & other than repainting the trains & perhaps replacing wheels nothing about them has really changed.I know that when I rode vortex at carowinds the headbanging was pretty bad compared to shockwave at KD...and we all know how that one is.
  3. This what I hated about the SF version of the system,in the years that I went before I stopped going in 08 they would be running one train on some rides just to increase the length of the wait in line making the average consumer see the line jumping system as a percieved value.I mean if there's hardly a wait at most of the rides then there's no need for guests to use the system after all. I don't know how KD plans to "merge" FL users with the regular lines though....are they only gonna allow a certain number of people into the line, then close the line to wait for FL users to show up at a particular ride before allowing regular guests into the line again? sounds like that's what they're gonna have to do,especially at the older rides which can't easily have their queue lines rebuilt to create a seperate entrance with a merge point for FL users.
  4. Loving that beautiful windseeker footage....I sure hope they remove that number 2 from the base of the tower before opening.
  5. Because Darien Lake needs a new coaster! SF no longer owns DL so they're ruled out of course. Could the build for SFNE's train for goliath be causing a delay in premier's fabrication schedule? just some food for thought.
  6. I can see the front seat lines on Dominator & I305 becoming the fastlane line for these two rides but why put the system on flat rides like windseeker,DT & triple spin, which generally have a high capacity per cycle just by nature of the design?Looks like I won't be riding BLSC,FOF or V:TBC much if at all this year,I usually skip volcano & FOF but do tend to ride backlot on occasion.
  7. They don't seem behind to me... all of the footers are down and there won't be any kind of special tall crane needed like leviathan, they aren't any ponds to worry about flooding like hershey, just like x-flight flew up I imagine that by mid-march this will be up if not almost. Giving them all apr/may to do testing/landscaping/etc.... They already have the trains so I mean they have plenty of time. That & it's a relatively compact layout so it's basically the same schedule they're going on as when they built Batwing,of course Batwing was plauged with technical problems that delayed testing & opening for a good two months or so but this will be different.
  8. Anyone notice on the new map how it mentions fastlane being in use on only 10 rides?my guess is that nine out of ten of those will be coasters.
  9. Welcome to the SFGAm/SFOG Club. Chicago got a Splash Battle to compliment the giant water park roughly 50 steps away, and Atlanta got a few gallons of blue paint to throw on Batman. Maybe California will get a Blue Splash Battle? Well that's alot better than what Maryland's gotten in years & what they're getting to make up for it.
  10. A brief Google Image Search shows that the towers were always blue. Perhaps the blue parts are the exterior tower supports? Looking it the photo below my last post it looks like they're installing the track first, then adding the blue tower bracing afterward.
  11. Not sure what the standards are down there but up here the ops are required to manually check that all restrainst are in the locked position by pulling & or pushing on them.Still there is the possibility that both cylinders failed on the way up in that particular seat but we must wait till the investigation is complete before jumping to any conclusions.
  12. Weren't the towers always green on all three original SF installations? I think some people have been playing RCT2 a bit too much to remember.
  13. Speaking of haunt imagine how it's gonna be riding windseeker when the fog is on full blast.
  14. When the belt policy first went into effect following the 99 incident at CGA all SFA did on their freefall was take used seatbelts from one of the old coaster cars & tied them at one end to the OTSR grip & somehow attached the other end to the seat bottom, talk about a cheap fix.
  15. I doubt it,just because KI did it doesn't mean KD will follow suit.BTW the go karts will be there.
  16. We had a Rita's here at the strip mall up the road from the house but like everything else in that mall it didn't last long. Looks like I'll have to check KD's facebook to see if the new map has been posted there as well.
  17. Sounds like a restraint failure to me since witnesses report sseeing the restraint or "lock" in the open position but on this model don't all 4 seats in each car lock & unlock together so that if one fails they all would on the car in question? Does this ride have the lap belts as is now standard on all the US installations?
  18. ^I saw the latest update on carowindsconnection & it looks like they've got the drive unit installed.
  19. That is just the way weather works. Now, we take a break from the Weather Channel to bring you this Kings Dominion Discussion Thread. Anyone got any new updates from the park?I hear that carowinds may have started installing the seating ring on theirs.
  20. So far SFA has yet to begin vertical construction...or at least provide updates of it so SFDK isn't alone there but barring any major problems they'll begin in due time.
  21. They got about 5 inches, but it melted quickly. We didn't get anything up here but just a scant 30 minutes away Woodbridge sure got hit.
  22. Looks great...at least from the looks of things they didn't get all that much snow in the Doswell area.
  23. I understand what you mean so they started retracking in 08? Unless they get new trains they're gonna have to do constant upkeep on the ride that's gonna prove to be pretty expensive....those PTC's just can't handle that layout very well.
  24. I swear, that last turn onto the brakerun was the worst spot on the entire ride when last I rode but the photo spot wasn't that bad....sad to hear it's gotten worse over the four years since I last rode it because it was a great ride in it's first two or three seasons.
