The Official "TPR MidWest USA 2007" Trip Thread!
TheRapidsNerd replied to robbalvey's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
There is a positive here. Some of the pics brought a better and humerous understanding of some of the TPR members that one could miss through text on a screen. See? Bright Side? -

Your welcome. People were kind enough to give encouragement when I joined the boards recently. It's the gift that keeps on giving and one day it'll be your turn to do the same. -

Popcorn. Check. 2 liter Dr. Pepper. Check. I'm a ready for the insanity! (Snicker) Terrance, I see you've hung out in the DC club scene too, eh? Good times, good times... -

Friends+Theme Parks=Instant Mayhem and at least 1 Kodak moment. Always a good decision! So how close did you all get to getting tossed after "stated your opinion" on the wait? To humerously answer your "Why?" on the mullet question: Sometimes, just baaaaaaad choice. Other times, it's a way around conservative parents who don't like long hair, but will eventually become long hair in 1st year of college. LOL! Yep, I had one...but I got better. Perhaps a rat-tail watch on the next trip? Good report man! -

To find the elusive Hummel Boy, go to the French Village by taking the wooden bridge walkway under Loch Ness Monster. Go up the stairs on the other end and that will put you in the French Village. Turn right toward the large fountain and take the little side street alley thing to the left of said fountain. Follow the alley toward Alpengeist. HB will be on your left before you turn left out of the village toward Alpengeist. He's right beside a shop door and there's a large-pizza-sized clock over that door. Next roll 2d6 for awareness. If no Orcs are nearby proceed to photograph the target. If your awareness is low, you can borrow my +1 mace. Eat cheetos and a warm Dr. Pepper to temporarily raise your score, or, just cast Magic Missle by default. -

OMG! I just looked at a vid clip from the French Village section, and there behind a glass door was Hummel Boy! (Laughing) I walked right by it! Didn't even dawn on me! -
You've taught me something new here that I wasn't aware of. If it makes you feel better, I take the Carlin approach to linguistics with similar pet peeves. Too much use of the prefix "pre", as in "pre-loaded" "pre-scooped", etc... If you look carefully, anything with an "ed" on the end means past tense. Putting "pre" before it, is redundant, but, because we love our media buzzwords, we use these terms. Suffice to say, I agree with where you're coming from and understand. Bottom line, people must change thier own habits, good or bad. We can't really change them. You or I being upset a lot, only hurts ourselves. Trust me, I've learned this lesson the hard way.

A lot of my friends who went to Six Flags Georgia and rode it as Z Force really liked the coaster. By the time I got to the park is was already taken out. Would've loved to have seen it up close. -
Terrance, got a big kick out of your "statue credit" perspective on the midwest trip. Had more than a few laughs. About a week ago, one of my coworkers says "hey guys, you gotta try these awesome cough drop things! They're called Horehounds." I busted up laughing. They thought cuz of the name, but it was cuz of your TR.

What everybody else said. Great job on the TR! Haven't been to KD since 8th grade (1988?) and they had just gotten Avalanche with Sky Pilot (rolloplane?) the year before. Wow has that place grown! Great to see Shockwave still going strong, except for the new colors. Oy! Vaguely remember Avalanche being a good ride. Glad it's still running. White Water Canyon was decent too. Again, great job on coverage! -

You did the TR on Dollywood a while back with Smokey Mountain River Rampage right? Good job again here. Glad to see these attractions. Had just recently heard of Lake Winnie and wondered what it was like. My coworkers swore by it and said they'd been several times. If it helps, like your ice cream craving, I've gotten my parent's funnel cake gene. Missed 2 credits this year at BGE and Alabama Adventure. Agreed though, good ice cream (and rootbeer floats, and hot fudge sundays) make a trip that much better. -

Here's an interesting, dorky, and somewhat thought provoking notion...What if they used Furryus Bacon style trains on the next round of B&M hypers? -

LOL! Thinking same. Heh, so many inuendos, so little time... As for KD, I wish they'd repaint Shockwave back to the green and yellow. This blue with orange and green track scheme would make an onion cry! -

Had thought about meeting up with you folks at SFKK, but figured you'd be pretty busy and locating folks might be difficult. By the sound of schedules, by the time I'd have gotten in with the general public, Midwest crew would be leaving, so meeting up got saved for another occasion. It's like with a friend of mine. We miss connections for a few months, then get together and don't miss a beat. -

While there are less riders per train, I kinda like the seating arrangement. EDIT: Unless you're on the outside or up front, there's not much of a view from the typical 4 across seating. It'd be neat if it was floorless too.
