  1. My first time on a water slide was around ten. I went to a park around Dayton Ohio with a friend and they had a half open/half closed tube you could ride with or without the mat. Dave says "It's slower if you use the mat, really." After ripping around the turns near the top edge of the channel for most of the ride, I hit the splash pool. Dave says "See? Great slide huh?" Could've HURT him, since I thought I was going to launch out of the channel during the really tight turns. Sorry that happened to you, and glad your son wasn't scared during the whole thing.
  2. (chuckling and shaking head) Dear God! I've spawned a Kroger topic thread on a roller coaster forum! Tune in next week for my exclusive look at the Circle C corner gas station. Is it REALLY tangerine Life Savers slushy, or just bad orange? Hmmmm.....
  3. Great pics. Great times. Nuff said.
  4. Talk about random! I post a PTR with Carrabba's as the spotlight, and the Kroger segment steals the show. Funny! Trader Joe's and Fresh Market are a couple of my faves. Got these awesome yogart covered blueberries at Trader Joe's last summer on our trip to Newport Beach. Was overjoyed that Target here carries Pirate's Booty like TJ!
  5. Nice! The Universal stilt walkers/actors have always been kinda cool to me. Love the HHN varients and looking forward to more of your pics.
  6. ^ Cool! Good to know and thanx for covering this. Wish I could get up there to see. You guys do some great work.
  7. The Bowl? The BOWL??? Awesome! Yes, some times simple park trips turn into wierdness, even for special events. Still neat to see and glad you shared. - The Mullet
  8. Looked like a fun park! The log flume captions and "What just happened?" pic with OldmanJJ(? sorry if I butchered that) were most humerous. His look is priceless.
  9. Thank you BuddyChrist! Those are some good reference pics.
  10. Anybody have new/more recent pics of the dismantle? I'm archiving any found for reference. Thank you to those who've already taken pics.
  11. Gotta go with Jurassic Park. The Velociraptors were the difference. Plus I liked the the following lines: "It's just a delay. All major theme parks have delays. Yeah, but John when the Pirates of the Carribbean breaks down, the pirates don't eat the tourists." "What do they have back there, King Kong?"
  12. Wow! Just......Wow! Only good friends can get away with that. Glad to hear the MGM rides are getting another chance, most of course for the rapids ride. Any word on which Mexico park? Thanks for posting the pics and LB layout. Great work finding all that info!
  13. Always enjoy reading your TRs. The kangaroo jump comparison pic between the poles, is pretty funny. Well done!
  14. The kid in me thinks TT will be pretty fun, and the adult in me is also bewildered by Sir Topham Hat. What's with the frosted mini wheat craving all of a sudden? Wierd... BTW, one of my coworkers recently became a dad and he and his wife named the boy Griffin. Sent him a pic of the BGE coaster from my trip, and he got a kick out of it. Word is, BGE fixing the sign's spelling.
  15. Thank you for the kind words. I appreciate them and glad you enjoyed.
  16. Went out to dinner tonight with an old high school friend who recently got a new job, got engaged, and moved to Birmingham. Since he was sick of packing up his apartment, Ray called me up and we decided to go Carrabba's. Actually, we careened into the idea. Needless to say, I got the silly idea for this TR and whipped out my cell phone repeatedly during dinner. Afterward, we made a "snack" run to Kroger where there were strange things that begged to be photographed. Yep, totally pointless, but fun. Enjoy! Ok, one more look at the awesome Lasagne. Must...get...MORE.... Shiver me timbers! Here be the end o the tale mateys. But Friar Tuck IS... Jesus is NOT happy with you... He's glad he's not the other pumpkin. This ghost would inflate and "rise" out of the bean bag sized pumpkin, then deflate and go back in. Yeah, we snickered like 12 year olds. Hello hippo fan person who's name I can't remember, but whom I thought of right away. So we went Krogering and were greated by this on the way in. Bye bye Carrabba's. You hot Italian stud of an eatery! Bench: The Ride was running multiple trains and was a walk on. The statue credits outside were quite lovely. Oooo! Illicit PoV! But not as good as THIS! Parmesan House Salad. Mighty tasty... MMmmmm...Lasagne. BEST EVER! This is Celli. (pronounced "Kelly") Celli was very nice to us and even agreed to be in this TR. We were grateful for her kindness and left good words with the manager. She'll be looking for this so "hello" to her and we'll be back soon! Ooooh Yeeeaaaahh! That's what I came for! Apparently, the Omen child is doing well as a chef. I skipped the "Scampi Damian" fearing hellish indigestion. Carrabba's! If you love Italian, this is just a great place to go. Good quality food and reasonable prices.
  17. 4/10 on the October quiz. Hooray for consistancy! On the bright side, I got the Olympia Bahn question right, though it almost threw me for a loop. (rolling d6...a 3. No, I do not blow up.)
  18. (laughing) Ooohh my sides!! First Soul Glo and now this. There's a definate hair trend here. Humerously, I'm growing my hair back out after 4 years of shaved head. So I look like a cross between the Play-Doh barbershop toy and one really screwed up Chia-Pet...with rock-a-billy sideburns. Just realized DirectorGuy is gonna have a field day with this. LOL! Thank you to the "Mullet Support Group" for all your well wishes, picture compliments and laughs. I'm feelin' the love!
  19. Ok, so what exactly happens at the end of Bilge Rat Barges? I've heard there's a drop, but then I hear, no not really. What's the real story? It's shame about Kali River. They could've done more with that. As for the drop, that seems to be a trend for rapids rides now. Bummer, because drops on other rides make me sick, and the rapids rides were something I could go on. What with the drops, I can't do some of them. So anybody have any cheese to go with this whine?
  20. (laughing) Thanks for the kind words on the hair. Had hoped to graduate to Perry Richardson status, for the ultimate Metal poodle hair. The attempt got cut short in 2002. It's always fun to compare old trips and settings with the current state of any park you visit, just to see how much has changed. Really, just a random TR. Glad you folks liked it.
  21. So what do you do when you're an insomniac with "a deplorable excess of personality" and some old pics? You post them for fun...and eat some Dorito crackers. These are about half of a group I scanned from a 1992 WDW and US trip. As the others get scanned, they'll be added. Laugh, cry, hurl, enjoy! Classic Rock? It's a Kodak moment. No, really. Things to do before I die: Eat lunch next to giant leaking hose and Lego brick. Check. Hey you! No flash photography! The trooper and mouse at the gate should've told you. I'm feeling a little faklempt. I'll give you a topic. Disney MGM Studios. It's neither MGM, nor studios. Discuss. Does this look WRONG to anybody else? Bouncy, Trouncy, Fun Fun Fun Fun Fun...with a mullet. OOOooooh Coasterdynaaaaaaamiiiiix.... I once painted a mural THIIIIIIIIIIIS big... I'm suited to deep experiences. S'up scooba guy! The Living Seas...before it got all Nemo. Yep, my palms were wet I was gushing with excitement over our family vacation. The Ball is Back.
  22. Hey! I used to live in Centerville and remember the adds for Americana and Fantasy Farm very well. Was looking at what remains of those parks just a couple days ago on the net. Also noticed Malibu Grand Prix is not around Dayton Mall any more. Still have my Mini-Virage Racing License from 1987. Trippy!!! Ok, back on topic now...
  23. Can't stand any of 'em. Swampfox, you rock for starting this thread! For theming, pace, fun, and wetness, my all-time is Roman Rapids at BGE. Granted, it doesn't have a drop like the newer ones do, but it's still a great ride. It would be even better if BGE would turn up the other 3 water falls near the end. Only one of the 4 gets you if the spin is just right. Many moons ago, all four falls were powerful and part of riding was playing the "who gets hit by the most falls" game. My on-ride and off-ride from May 2007 are below (yes, ride op said it was ok to film). On-ride Off-ride
  24. I'm 32 <------See? My first coaster was The Candy Cane Coaster (herschel/bradley kaye little dipper) at Santa's Workshop near Colorado Springs, Co. Um....yeah.....
  25. Dunno where, but thought I read an indoor mac coaster was on the table for the Chiller area. Are we talking about the same possible new addition or different rides? Indoor mac bobsled, ala CP Disaster Transport would be fun.
