  1. I'm sure Nintendo would of checked for any simular devices on the market before creating the Wii-remote. It serves Sony right for their "Duel Shock rumble" pad as they shut down Lik-Sang.
  2. I love this ride and I have to praise BPB for building it. Make sure your wearing a "full wetsuit n goggles" b 4 you ride and it's a hot day, your get soaked.
  3. It's also best to spend 2 days at Cedar Point, due to it being a massive Park.
  4. The Corkscrew at Alton Towers was my 1st time for inversions in the early 80's
  5. This ride is a show case for a company called "Laservision", it's uses mirrors, different coloured lasers to achive some amazing effects. There is also a backward 1st drop of some 20ft before hitting a turntable and doing the rest of the ride forwards. I wish X: No Way Out at TP was like this.
  6. If a 2nd tower is built at TP, Lapbars or the ones on G-Force at Drayton could be used instead of OHR. That would be cool I don't do drop towers anymore, I just watch and photo. TP does not have a celing ride height of 115ft when Stealth is 205ft, TP can build any ride just as high as "Stealth" if they want to.
  7. Sefton could have integrated the Cyclone into their new project. Most of the coasters in the UK give "rubbish" rides apart from "Megafobia, Nash, BD, Rollercoaster, Wild Mouse, Vampire, Dragon's Fury, Cobra and Nemesis". Goodbye Cyclone, Hello 3 more woodies by 2010, that's if the strick council's don't get their ways and reject the plans. I'll blame Amanda for this though: English Heritage was refused entry by BPB.
  8. Hi Ken, thanks for the update on the Park: Would you consider running 1 NAD train and 1 original train on the "Blue Streak"..? I'm glad the "Bug" is running again after it's 3 year break, how is it preforming..? It's such a lovely feeling for an old ride to be working again and seeing the riders faces smile when they come off. I never got the chance to ride Blackpool's version of their "Turtle Bug" and now they destroyed it along with the Whip. Having a horrible SLC in it's place. I am planning to visit the Park in 2008, what is the best time before the school holidays to visit..? Hope the Park can raise lots of money next season for the unique rides and attractions.
  9. If you want to ride a proper Waltzer at "full speed", try the one on Blackpool's South Pier. Def a "spin n puke". I bet the 4k Waltzer is not as in good condition. Post a pic of it please
  10. I have the 1st game on PS2. I'll be getting the 2nd one after Xmas along with another guitar for the 2 player mode.
  11. I found this article, anyone know what switch is this guy talking about..? Puritas Spring Park I worked at Puritas Springs Park and ran every ride except the Cyclone. That Cyclone is still the fastest coaster I have ever ridden. You had to be 21 to operate that ride. Anyway, one day I was operating the ride we called the Salt and Pepper shaker. Can't remember its real name right now but it looked like two bullets on a long bar. It would go round and round but if you hit a certain switch it would also rotate up to a point where it was going around parallel to the ground. This time one of my good friends was in one of the bullets with his girlfriend. Normally when you hit that switch it made one complete revolution up and down, and then went back to the normal up and down rotation. Dummy me, when I had them rotating parallel to the ground, I flipped the switch thinking that would keep them rotating parallel continuously until I decided to let them down. Didn't work that way. As soon as I hit that switch the entire ride came crashing down against itself and the center pole. Fortunately, nobody was hurt but the ride was out of commission for 5 days. My friend thought it was all very funny not realizing he almost got killed. Bob Stanton, North Las Vegas, NV, Sep. 22, 2006
  12. The woodie looks lovely, nice 1st drop and great headchoppers everywhere. You lucky people in Texas. Can't wait for a POV. Just don't install a "Trim" brake on the 1st drop. coasterboy25 - The ride will be more than reasonable, this is created by "Gravity Group" who are the best woodie designers in the world.
  13. A B&M "Floorless" would be great for Thorpe, a 1st in the UK. I've never ridden one, are they scary and do they use those "button" restraints..? Thorpe could do with a nice white "woodie" sometime in the future.
  14. To: Ryan King - I get help everyday for my condition. Atleast I don't "pound it", that's so 10 years ago, but then your only 16 That's 2 less coasters I would go on at Blackpool: PMBO and Infusion.
  15. The Wii is coming to the UK 2morrow 8th Dec. Europe is last as always People have started to Q this morning at my local "Game" shop. Is everyone very happy with their "Wii" and anyone used their's as a "Gamecube"..? I will wait for the New Year before I buy one to go with my DS Lite.
  16. 6Ft tall and 35 years young
  17. For all Waltzer fans: Link: click Description: 50 ft dia British Waltzer fairground ride. Built by Maxwell. Complete with ten cars, running lights on the rafters, top tilt, music system. Featuring some excellent air-brush artwork. Trailer mounted centre. Tested until middle of April 2007. 110v dc motor and starter, includes transformer/rectifier. Steel trams. Can be seen dismantled in storage only by prior arrangement. Has been open this year until 8th October and is in fine running condition. Would suit Amusement/Theme park. Operator training available.
  18. I have been on El Toro "brother" at Heide-Park Germany; it is the best woodie I have ever been on. I did not mind the height, I knew just by looking at it, it was an " "machine. The speed and "floating air" is insane, I wish it was nearer to the UK so I can enjoy it more often. The roughest section is the Helix, which the park should ask Intamin to replace before it, shakes itself to bits. I do prefer this type of "Plug n Play" wood by Intamin than normal wood coasters, I hope the parks will purchase loads more in the future. For "old-skool" wood coasters like the "Voyage": As long as the track has been well greased and serviced I enjoy being thrown about and hitting the "One click Lapbar". The "Beast" was the best ride and the worst ride is "SOB". I have not had the joy of riding the Voyage yet; it does look an amazing piece of wood engineering esp the "Triple" down in darkness and the 90% corners (this would never happen in the UK). No wonder sections of the Voyage track had been replaced after the 1st season if it is a wild and out-of-control ride. I expect it to have a "Trims" added soon to slow it down. I don't want the Park to receive a letter that starts with "I sue you for the wood coaster being 2 fast and feeling dangerous". Anyone know "How many tress were used to create the Voyage" ?
  19. Robb: You said: And I want to see the *GOOD* wooden coasters saved. In your mind what do you consider to be a good woodie and built Pre-1970's / 80's..? Any woodies "born" in the 90's don't count. they are to new. --------------------------------------------- If the "Blue Comet" was saved, re-tracked, give it lots of TLC to bring it back to near "new" condition, I'm sure the aging woodie can give a thrilling ride which equals today's modern Out n Back coasters.
  20. I am very happy for Flamingoland and AT (if they get the green light) adding 2 woodies to the UK list, but: It's always the North of England, which gets the best of everything. The South suffers very badly; the only good thing, which the North has less of, is "summer sun". I've asked Paulton's Park if they can build a Family Size woodie for their next investment. TPDave - You said: the park has stated a "true" woodie has a sturcture too dense for the park. Is that on the lines of "Health and Safety"? I'm thinking on the lines of Megafobia but longer and 110ft high, no one can say that structure is "too dense". -------------------------------------------------------------- TP would probably worry about the "general public" complaining about the roughness of the track or being too fast, TP install a "trim" block, OHR on the trains. Why would someone not ride a "hybrid" woodie with a steel structure ? I class people who do that as "Rivet Counters", just like people who say "You can't paint a Preserved Diesel Loco in that colour, it never had the colour when in service with BR". It’s the 21st century, “wake up” to these people. These “Hybrid” coasters are classed as wood, the track and trains sit on wood. It's a good mixture to have both "wood" track and "steel" supports.
  21. CoasterFanatic - I live in the UK so the "Blue Streak" is over 3,000+ miles away. I would be very happy to do the 2008 Dusk-till-Dawn for $500. I'll let you know the date I go there, so anyone who wants to be at the park can witness me give the cash over.
  22. Great Sunset Shot of Medusa, lovely colour of red's I like closed Parks as well, My fav is Chippa Lake I would love to go there and borrow a wheel off one of the "Big Dipper" trains or have the wood brake lever.
  23. I hope Conneaut can stay afloat and get back into the “Black” soon and not stay in the “Red”, we do not want another Classic Woodie to become SBNO and they run Nad's trains on it. That would be so sad to see it die. Some “Classic” woodies are worth saving and not all wood coasters should be built by GCI or Gravity Group, Yes “Thunderhead” (never been on it apart from Robb’s POV) for example is an amazing coaster with a great layout. The coaster industry also needs to have the old coasters running. e.g. Starliner and Screamin Eagle. Do you think someone would buy the “Blue Streak” if the Park did shut down..? I’ll be more than happy to give the Park $500 in 2008 towards running and restoring the “Blue Streak” and I'll be riding a piece of USA coaster history. The locals can do some fund raising for the park and run some Dusk-till-Dawn ERS on the Blue Streak to help bring the money in. Can’t the Park get some State Money or ask to have “Blue Streak” the same status as the Cyclone at Coney Island, so this coaster is saved from being demolished.
  24. Why does the UK suffer from the lack of wooden roller coasters, the only decent 3 are Wild Mouse, Grand National and Megafobia. Why can't Thorpe Park build an Out-n-Back as they have the height for one. Get rid of "Loggers Leap" and build a woodie over the water with some nice night lighting. This really annoys me that UK coaster followers have to go beyond our shores to find a decent wood ride, e.g. Parc Astreix and Heide-Park Good Luck Alton Towers on your Megafobia 2 in 2008, your have to get past the locals 1st which will not be easy. I hope in the next few years the Parks here will look at the amazing woodies in the US and build some world class woodies for us in England.
