  1. Breaking News from CNN. Six Flags’ Kentucky Kingdom wants to tear down its Superman Tower of Power ride on which a girl lost both of her feet earlier this year. The move has been the subject of intense negotiations between attorneys for the theme park and the teenager who lost one of her feet on the ride after both feet were cut off. The family of the 13-year-old injured on the ride, Kaitlyn Lasitter, is suing Kentucky Kingdom, saying it failed to maintain safe equipment. Lasitter’s lawyer wants to make sure critical evidence is preserved. “We really need to get the ride down before the start of next season,” Kentucky Kingdom attorney John Hauley said. For that to happen, the park claims the ride needs to be down by Feb. 1. Lasitter’s feet were severed while riding the Tower of Power as a cable snapped. Attorneys for the family and the theme park are still debating which of two companies will test that cable and other parts of the ride. “If this tower is begun to be taken down, there might be somebody not just at these tables, but behind me that will say we found stuff on what the lab did that requires us to go back, but that evidence is altered or gone,” the Lasitters’ family attorney, Larry Franklin, said. Kentucky Kingdom proposes dismantling the 170 foot ride and preserving key parts in a warehouse. But there are still questions about exactly what parts to preserve. “We’ve been discussing a reasonable time frame even after the cable has been tested, but there’s no date as of this date we can start taking down the ride,” Hauley said. Six Flags said it will take four to six weeks to dismantle the Superman Tower of Power. But, first, both sides have to agree on a lab, and then find out how long it will take to test the cable and other parts. The next hearing will be held on Dec. 14.
  2. I bet it was mighty tasty..
  3. Wait till the PS3 comes down past $400 and your parents can buy you one. I paid £400 for my PS3 cos I'm a Sony fanboy lover.
  4. That looks well cool having a enclosed Tornado and coming out the other end in a tube, you could have one at the start, in the middle and one at the end of the slide, inbetween the Tornado's there could be some mini bunny hops, drops and helix's.
  5. I have not had any bad experiences on any coaster, the roughest must of been "SOB" 2 months after it opened. My hands went numb in the "Rose-bowl" section due to the vibrations.
  6. The "Banshee" T-Shirt arrived today, took less than 1 week to ship to England from West Springfield MA. I am 6ft tall and 12st, the t-shirt ends just above my knees as it's an XL size. On the side of the arms it says "Cedar Point 1996 Season Park Holder".
  7. Thanks texcoaster, I will look up the coasters on some Coaster Expedition DVDs.. It would be very cool to have some of the hard-to-find coaster POV's on the next DVD from TPR.
  8. There are many great coasters in the USA which can feature on the next DVD if Robb decides to do one, and hopefully he can choose some of those which I have listed. I love all the coasters in the USA, so much choice and better in the layout / design. Can't wait to enjoy a whole morning or afterroon at Timber Falls, front or back seat for best . I come from a depraved country (England) which does not have many decent coasters. Most of the English parks are scared to build a good coaster with any length, height and wood coasters are so "rare". Thorpe Park could do with a Mini Hyper or a Twister woodie, it was a mistake for them to purchase "Stealth", the park should of made the ride longer with more turns, hills and twists. All our health & safety rules kill's 90% of any coaster plans, e.g. Not allowed over a certain height, not allowed to go underground. **** Did you know**** Due to H&S problems: Lapbars and seatbelts are being installed for the 2008 season on the "Big Dipper" and "Rollercoaster" at Blackpool.. Both rides are perfectly safe with no restraints whatsoever. Lapbars are on "Cyclone" at Coney Island and "Big Dipper" at Belmont Park, but if they added seatbelts as well. is that fair or gone too far in safety..
  9. Most of the DVD is excellent and I do admire you Robb for going out of your way to get layouts of the rides onto film so everyone can enjoy them at their leisure. I know most B&M's are super smooth and I wish they made woodies, but the Tatsu video shakes a lot, is the ride that forceful. I've only been on "AIR" which of course can't be compared to Tatsu. What is the pretzel loop like to experience. I can't wait to try a "Pretzel Loop", the nearest coaster to me is "Speed Monster" at TusenFryd, Norway. I meant the POV of "The Voyage" was an old one, liked the new stuff on it, would of loved to see the "Triple Down" with the lights on. If there is another "Coasters in the Raw" DVD, please can the following coasters be filmed: Superman at SFMM Viper at SFMM GASM Texas Giant Big Dipper at Belmont Park Blue Streak at CLP Screechin Eagle (before it closed) The Beast (both braked and full speed no brakes) SOB with Loop and without Loop Flight of Fear coasters Batman and Robin coasters Superman ROS MF Mantis Zippin Pippin Big Dipper at GL Ravine Flyer 11 Raven Vortex at Kings Island Canadian Minebuster woodie Mindbender at West Edmonton Mall Legend at Arnold Park and Holiday World Big Dipper at Camden Park Cannonball at Lake Winnepesaukah Yankee Cannonball at Canobie Lake Park Comet at Lincoln Park (if possible before it closed) Cyclone at Coney Island
  10. I bought the 60Gb PS3 4 months ago, but I upgraded the Hard Drive to 160Gb and it runs at 7,400rpm. The standard HD runs at 5,400rpm. I have a Wii and 360 Elite as well, I bought a 40" 1080P Samsung LCD 2 months ago.
  11. I want to ride this coaster sometime next year, how long does it take to drive from Cedar Point..? When does the bridge get built, is it soon..?
  12. All the coaster developers know of any weakness in the structure at any point. GG and CGI etc simulate all the stress points of the coaster on their PC's using 3D CAD before they build it for real etc. It's down to the Park and designer to agree what type of coaster the park wants, if they want it fast, G's and Brutal then they get a ride like the "Boss". If the park wants an enjoyable ride they go for something like "Balder".
  13. Dog Fart Coaster at BonBon Land
  14. I recieved a copy this afternoon in England, great video's of the coasters, only 1 thing wrong. 2 much screaming. Is Tatsu really that rough. Best Video: Thunderbird and Starliner, could hear the wheels working. Worst Video: The Voyage, screaming girls and hardly any wheel sounds, I thought this coaster could of had new footage of the ride, but you added some old video instead. If there is another "Coasters in the raw", please strap the camera to the front of the train and send it round empty. For £10 it's still a bargin for 2 disc's..
  15. All you need for most coasters are a seatbelt and a pulldown bar like "Goliath" at Walibi World, even a "button" will do. There is no need for OHR on coasters which do inversions, the Flight Of Fear coasters have shown parks that. Your upper body should be free to move and not pinned into the seat. If I get stapled into the seat, I ask the Op to release it so I can slide down into the seat, stick my stomach (I have a flat one not rounded) out to stop the op from pushing the bar out and there is more room between the bar and myself.
  16. What a beautiful park that is, all those lovely colours on the trees etc, are their coasters painted "white". Make the perfect shot.
  17. I hope no-one does ride the "Bullet" or any coaster holding a camera or phone.. Leave that to Robb Complain to the Park about the ride and they can contact GG who should try and sort out the roughness..
  18. Kings Island has a great entrance, love the fountains which have different programs to display the water and the Tower in the background.
  19. I managed to bid for the T-Shirt for something like $40 which is £25. If I go back to Cedar Point, i'll be wearing it. Wonder if someone would complain. I take a Small / Medium size t-shirts so an XL will be super massive on me..
  20. B&M make the best stand-up's: Only been on 3 King Cobra at KI Shockwave at DMP England Mantis at CP
  21. You must like riding the "Bullet" with it's problems of bumpiness if you done it 400 times.. It would not bother me as I like getting slammed into the "Buzbar" and shoved into the car's side. Getting a bruise or being shaken around is part of the fun on a woodie, the "Nash" a Blackpool 1 such ride which throws you about. Don't even think about riding with a phone in your jeans pocket. If the problem is like the SOB accident then that's different. A wooden coaster needs about a year to bed in properly unless it's the pre-fabricated track. The Park should of taken this into account before deciding to build a wooden coaster by water. Does the "Big Dipper" at Belmont Park and "Cyclone" at Coney Island suffer from the moisture and climate changes...
  22. Saw this picture on the side of a house walking in Swanage, Dorset in South England.
  23. Coney Island would not even consider allowing the "Cyclone" to get into the same state as the Thunderbolt.. It is a national treasure.. Could someone post how the USA "Historic Building, Landmarks and Structures" work if the upkeep can't be maintained by the owner.
  24. It's a nice touch for TP to add a Euro-fighter for 2009, should get their attendance up and move people from AT.. The south always loses out from the North of England. My only worry with most Euro-fighters are, the layout is always compact so you can't enjoy the ride for very long. No "pretzel loop" or "Bent Cuban 8" inverstions are annoying. TP should of pushed EF coasters to a new level.. I'll be happy to ride it, much better than "boring" 1 trick pony "Stealth".
  25. What happens when the lease runs out for the Cyclone, would the lease be-rewed or can someone buy the coaster but have to keep it at Coney Island..?
