If Mean Streak is so rough, why does Cedar Point not re-track it, remove the brakes and give it a re-paint. It is their Sig woodie. MS is not an woodie, it was built purely for speed. Bring back CP Cyclone. -

The wonderful headchopper 1/2 way up the "Wild Mouse" Lift Hill at Blackpool, tall people have to lean forward to duck. Your so close to the track above, you could touch a car which heads towards the insane mouse turns.

A Description of the ride: After the visitors have taken a seat in one of the two trains, the ride starts through the sawmill. A left turn is followed by a small dip which leads to the lifthill. 30 metres higher there are only a few seconds left to enjoy the view as the train slowly picks up speed in another left turn and gets closer and closer to the large first drop. Suddenly it plunges down 30 metres and with 90 kilometres per hour up again into a high-build right-hand turn. Still in the turn the train goes down again and rattles over a hill with lots of airtime. This is followed by a left-hand helix in which it goes up first, than down again. The next airtime-hill leads directly over the entrance to the ride before the train zips by the queue line in the next right-hand helix. After the next airtime-hill, which is located right under the lifthill, the track makes a turn to the left. After some other turns and hills the train rushes down into a tunnel in a heavily banked left-hand turn, which leads directly into a directional change to a heavily banked right-hand turn. This turn leads out of the tunnel and straight into the final brakes in which the train heads with lots of speed left. After the brake there is just the last left-hand turn between the train and the station, before the ride is over and the saw-job finished. -
Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread

The one flat-fronted train design from the Raging Wolf Bobs may very well end up as a third Son of Beast train. However the other three more stylish trains may be put into service on The Beast itself as the maintenance crew is said to be ready to retire the existing PTC trains on the ride. After a side by side comparison season between the PTC trains and the Gerstlauer trains added to Son of Beast in 2007, it seems the maintenance crew may be favoring the G-trains. Photos of the trains from Geauga Lake’s Villain and Raging Wolf Bobs now all on site at Kings Island. Now things are getting interesting it seems, because the park has suddenly become the dumping ground for all these used Gerstlauer wooden coaster trains. Two former trains from Myrtle Beach are currently running on Son of Beast, and now four more G-trains have arrived, three with the more stylish look as seen on The Villain and another with the same classic flat-front look as the Myrtle Beach trains. I could see the later being added as a third train for Son of Beast, but new rumors indicate that The Racer may be involved with the plans for these new trains as well. Makes you wonder if they may take the Racer’s old PTCs and put them on Son of Beast and move all the G-trains over to The Racer. The G-Trains may run quite well on The Racer since they seem to work best on Out & Back style coasters and in my own opinion, they don’t track well on anything with a lot of turns like Son of Beast. -
I found "Colossos" at Heide Park very smooth in 2005, the only rough part was the down-ward helix, it's fun being jolted up n down before returning to the smooth track and coming out of your seat on the hills towards the final turn I am for more Prefabricated Track coasters being built, I'm sure all of the "woodies" purist will dis-agree, but the coaster companies have to cater for everyone. Build normal and Prefabricated Track woodies and everyone should be happy. Personally there is no limit in what a wooden coaster can do, depends if the park wants something different and unique. Have in-line twists, more than 90 degree banked corners (e.g. MF), vertical loops, launched start, 97% 1st drop and all preformed with "lap bars" never OHR. Bring on the new era in wood coasters..

Anyone going to buy "Manhunt 2" when it gets released on "Halloween"..?. I can't buy it in England cos it's banned, I'll have to wait till it arrives in Holland, spend a long weekend there and buy a copy.

Caen Hill Locks are a flight of locks on the Kennet and Avon Canal, at Devizes, Wiltshire England. These 29 locks have a total rise of 237 feet in just 2 miles (72 m in 3.2 km) or a 1 in 44 gradient. The locks come in three groups. The lower seven locks, Foxhangers Wharf Lock to Foxhangers Bridge Lock, are spread over 1.2km. The next sixteen locks form an impressively steep flight in a straight line up the hillside. Because of the steepness of the terrain, the pounds between these locks are very short. As a result, 15 locks have unusually large sideways-extended pounds to store the water needed to operate them. A final six locks take the canal into Devizes. This flight of locks was engineer John Rennie's solution to climbing the very steep hill, and were the last part of the 87 mile route of the canal to be completed. Whilst the locks were under construction a tramroad provided a link between the canal at Foxhangers to Devizes, the remains of which can be seen in the towpath arches in the road bridges over the canal. Because a large volume of water is needed for the locks to operate, a back pump was installed at Foxhangers in 1996 capable of returning 32 million litres of water per day to the top of the flight, which is equivalent to one lockful every eleven minutes. In the early 19th century, 1829-43, the flight was lit by gas lights. The locks take 5-6 hours to travel in a boat and lock 41 is the narrowest on the canal. After the coming of the railways, the canal fell into disuse, and closed. From the 1960s there was a major clearing and rebuilding operation, culminating in a visit by Queen Elizabeth II in 1990 to officially open the new locks The Grand view from the bottom of the locks

Hercules Question
verticalzero replied to slnewbus's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The Park may of had a lot of complaints from customers about the speed or other things to do with the ride, brakes were added and this kills the fun of any coaster.. If the ride was rough in it's later years, why was the maintenance not kept up so it runs smooth and fast.. It's the parks fault for adding brakes and lack of looking after this coaster, so it gets bad reviews and had to be torn down. Maybe CP want "Mean Streak" to go the same way, they have started it with brakes on the 1st drop. There is no excuse for any Theme Park to let their coasters get rough and not service them properly.. -
Knoebels Discussion Thread

This just in from Coastin' Steve, one of the carpenters for the Flying Turns at Knoebels: --------------- "Well boys and girls, despite Dick's inspirational pep talks over the last few weeks. And the carpentry crew busting our backs to get the track done (the track WILL be ready for the train to roll by the end of this week). Delays on getting the train assembled, and the remaining less than 2 weeks, have made it impossible for us to get the Flying Turns open to ride for the PPP. 8-( There's just too much testing and fine tuning to do before it will be ready to ride. We're fairly sure we'll have the train on track by then and hope you'll come to the PPP and watch it SILENTLY roll and talk to us as we run the train through the testings that we need to do. As I said in one of my previous posts, the controling bumpers (funnels) where the train goes from trough to track, couldn't be developed with the 2 test chassis. It needs the full 5 car train so the exact ride path can be seen and the controling bumpers designed and built from there. Hope to see you at the PPP. -

Cedar Fair could make this Park their Premier Water Park for the North of Ohio. They should keep the "Big Dipper" due to it being a Classic coaster. -
