  1. It's their original wave pool, located at the very back of the water park. They also have a newer wave pool located midway through the water park.
  2. Those two statements are mutually exclusive. It is absolutely reasonable to say that most if not all rides in these countries are dangerous and not implicate that there is anything negative about their people.
  3. Not sure how old the Google Maps satellite images are, but that spot appears to be occupied by some sort simpler rotating ride.
  4. What kind of strange world has this thread become when we have a GM from a park who registered almost TWELVE years ago making his very first post an advertisement for a park that this thread isn't even about?
  5. And I'm from the same exact hometown as you, and went to HS with your sister, so that means what? Even shitty Delaware, which I will admit is pretty shitty, is nowhere near the level of shithole that these countries are.
  6. Yes, clearly you're elated so you can make your "third world" claim again. Yes, I am. Sorry I'm not "woke" enough for you. Third world is third world regardless of how non-PC it may be to call it out.
  7. Gee, what do you know, a similar ride also collapses killing 3, also in a third world country. (Warning: Video in linked article which specifically mentions people getting killed may not be safe for those too stupid to realize a video in an article which specifically mentions people getting killed may contain footage of people getting killed.) https://www.dailystar.co.uk/news/world-news/791883/video-theme-park-ride-collapase-india-ahmedabad-deaths
  8. How many people actually go on these when installed in a major park? I ask since I was at King's Dominion yesterday, and probably spent a total of 4 hours in the general vicinity of their Skycoaster, and saw zero people partake.
  9. No drinking cars = fail. Good for the city though.
  10. I can tell you that 90 through Chicago is NOT a good idea; I did it when I went out there in 2017 and it was the worst 6 hours of the entire drive. Googlemaps recommends the 294 route, but I'd suggest something a little out there: 1. Take 96 west across Michigan to Muskegon. 2. Take the Lake Express Ferry to Milwaukee 3. Take 94 south to the park. It'll cost substantially more (the ferry isn't cheap), and take about 2 hours longer than the 294 route, but you get to enjoy a ferry ride (it's better to spend 2 hours walking around a boat with access to a bar then 2 hours sitting in stop-and-go traffic) and even stop in MiA for a few rides if you want. I took the ferry going back east from Milwaukee and it was a very, very smart move on my part. If you decide to go that route, I highly recommend buying the ferry ticket for a specific time in advance - you don't want to get there and find the boat is full since they run 6 hour departure intervals.
  11. This is the first year of them being a "Six Flags" park again. I'd be happy my membership even gets me in*, and not try to worry about all of the fringe benefits that you're accustomed to that this park had never done before. *That is if I were ever theoretically excited about going to SFDL, which I would never, ever, ever be.
  12. Because $11.99 a month is "enough to keep out the riff-raff"? LOL
  13. That wave pool (they have two) has been closed all year; now we know why. It's also located at the very back of the water park, with absolutely nothing but trees behind it, so the possibilities are endless.
  14. And at the same time, there are 40+ year old steel coasters that out there still chugging away that haven't had full track replacements (see: any permanent installation Schwarzkopf). Some of them probably have higher peak G-force numbers than MF too.
  15. I think that was Ouimet's pet project. Think about it...the two (I stand corrected again) that were installed were in 2014 and 2015, and we haven't seen any dark rides since, and he isn't with CF anymore. But you know what, go on believing that the Point is getting some super-elaborate dark ride for 2020. I'm done trying to explain why its an unlikely outcome. Keep the dream alive.
  16. I stand corrected...they've built ONE dark ride in their entire recent history. "Celebrating the coliseum" can mean literally anything...from a ride in it all the way down to banners. Seriously don't get yourself worked up about this.
  17. Given that Cedar Fair, to my knowledge, has never installed a dark ride of any type to any of its parks, yeah I'd say it'd be something "big."
  18. Unlike the American Dream, this actually has a chance at staying open past a year, if it does ever open.
  19. KD's fireball, machine gun fire, and helicopter movement were all MIA when I was there mid-June. It was definitely better back in the day.
  20. Rides with less demand, like Boomerang went right to 10, but RoS seemed to close up a few minutes early. I just wish they’d be open even later than 10. I just don’t get why theme parks all close so early. I was at CP last weekend, and I heard a good amount of people wondering why they aren’t open until 11 or later. I guess most people just don’t want to come to the parks at night. Always baffled me since I’ve always found it a better experience riding coasters at night. 14 and 15 year olds, a large portion of the amusement park labor force, are prohibited by federal law from working after 9 PM. Might have something to do with it.
  21. Yes, but not typically due to gross structural failure such as this, and not typically to such disastrous results. In fact, the only recent even similar incident that comes to mind was the one at the Ohio State Fair, but that was a traveling carnival, not a permanent amusement park such as this. In fact, let's go. Here are all of the deaths or injuries incurred at US parks due to negligent maintenance or random structural failure (source: Wikipedia): -1930, Krug Park, 4 deaths due to a loose bolt -1998, Disneyland, death due to improper replacement of a rope -1999, Gillian's Wonder Pier, 2 deaths due to faulty brakes -2001, SFDK, minor injury due to improper replacement of a pneumatic valve -2003, Disneyland, death due to a derailment due to improper maintenance. -2007, Kentucky Kingdom, injury due to faulty cable -2010, Trimper's Rides, 3 injuries due to a failed cable -2011, Morey's Piers, 5 minor injuries due to a broken mast on a swinging ship -2011, Storybook Land, 3 injuries due to structural failure Should I even try to list all of the similar deaths or injuries at traveling carnivals or third-world parks?
  22. Dorney to SFGAdv is about an hour and a half depending on traffic.
  23. And this is why you don't ride amusement rides in third world countries.
