  1. Here you go: https://www.nj.com/news/g66l-2019/10/753698a3ba5939/american-dream-mall-is-open-heres-a-look-inside-photos.html You're not missing much. And yes, that was the opening day crowds. The place was open to the preview-buying public.
  2. For someone who has talked a lot of shit on Robb and TPR on his Twitter page, coming here with your name and location, and some of your recent posts...yeah I give you a week.
  3. New Texas Giant. I have no idea where the 'A' came from either.
  4. Welcome to the saga of American Dream. When you realize that this project has been in the works since the Clinton Administration, it puts things into perspective.
  5. On the plus side, you'll be about an hour (with DC traffic) from King's Dominion. Spring for the Platinum Pass and enjoy both!
  6. From looking through those auctions, it appears that they've dismantled numerous of the old pinball machines and arcade games that were in that Arcade. Why would they have done that?
  7. I couldn't have said this better myself, being in the same line of work. It boggles my mind how any grown adult, or even HS or College student, could be legitimately scared by anything that occurs at a Six Flags or Cedar Fair Halloween event. I too enjoy them for the artistry of it all. Now, some of the intense haunts (like that one in Spain described in the TR or some of the nuttier ones in PA), where people are touching you, restraining you, throwing stuff on you...I can see how that could cause some psychological trauma. But kids in face paint, masks, and sparking sliders? LOL.
  8. I dunno, that truck looks pretty messed up from the pictures. Probably a total write off.
  9. Ah, $15 an hour. The universal solution to all of the world's problems. Most HS/College kids and parents with normal jobs have work Monday morning. It makes absolute sense for them to not stay open until 10PM or 1AM on Sunday nights. Yes, they probably could pay more and get more people to work, but I think you're vastly overestimating that incentive and they would still have staffing troubles. I'm pretty sure CP, and the other CF parks that do not do Haunt on Sundays, are perfectly fine with their fiscal outlook the way things are. I'm sure someone there has done the math and determined that the additional income gained from running Haunt on Sunday nights would not outweigh the additional expense.
  10. LOL who is surprised? No one. I'm surprised NJ.com even reported on this since they've been doing nothing but hyping this project with new articles every day for the past year.
  11. It was two years ago in 2017, except for the Safari I think. EDIT: I should clarify. Yes, the entirety of the park was open to walk around. Many food stands were closed, as well as some ride closures, due to staffing if I had to guess.
  12. Probably has something to do with their vastly HS/college age workforce having classes on Monday thus being more hesitant to work Sunday nights.
  13. Cedar Fair's is 15 minutes, and I guess I'm just the type to read the fine print, but I always knew that was the deal when I bought the drink plan.
  14. Awesome report Bill. I definitely need to make it down to Texas one of these days.
  15. Opening: Dec 30 2019. "See, we told you it was new for 2019!"
  16. Its possible that the train was already traveling less fast already heading into it, thus you wouldn't see as much slowdown. The magnetic brakes the ride has installed now slow the train to speed X, not reduce speed by a set amount, so if it's already traveling at or below X, they don't do anything.
  17. Unless you rode the Beast the first few weeks it was open, you did not get a trimless ride. There were always skid brake trims that didn't turn off which were replaced with magnetic brakes that do not turn off a few years back. Just sayin'.
  18. I think you underestimate the market and how many people there are in the area that would be willing to pay that price. I wouldn't be surprised if it ends up being even more than that once they transition out of previews. But what's their competition? Coney Island? $42 for an all-day wristband. Great Adventure? $58 for a day, $72 for the year. Sorry, I just don't see the draw other than "open in the winter."
  19. LOL $40-50 dollars for 4 hour blocks. Man, I know I keep digging on this project, but they just make it too easy. Closed within a year, if it ever opens.
  20. Sounds like an employee that didn't know what they were doing, and supervisors that also didn't. I'm not sure if it's changed since 2017, or if the fact that it's a non-US pass that matters, but I can say for 100% certainty that I bought my pass through CPs website and processed it into a card at MiA back then. Since, I've renewed it twice at Kings Dominion, and still have my MiA card.
  21. I second Bill's comments; Dorney's Haunt is better than the Halloween events at SFGAdv or Hershey, and the low crowds will generally mean a decent time. Haunt maze lines shouldn't get beyond the 30-45 minute mark, and of course ride lines will be super minimal. That said, if all you're looking for is haunted houses, the region has some of the country's best. Check out the following: Terror Behind the Walls at Eastern State Penitentiary Field of Screams Pennhurst Asylum Bates Motel Fright Factory Note that these are mostly, if not all, much more extreme than what you'd find at an amusement park. Namely, that you might have to sign a wavier and the scareactors will most likely be touching you.
  22. Yeah, lines weren't terrible, but walking around the park was pretty damn crowded at times.
  23. It sure as hell felt like a record last week. Place was packed both Friday and Saturday nights.
