I don't even know what fondue is (have to look that up), but it must be good if Elissa would kill for it. She'll probably strap you into a Vekoma SLC and tell the ride ops to not let you off until your brain is a battered sludge.

Cedar Fair buys PARAMOUNT PARKS!
downunder replied to Canobie Fan's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Whoah, that is totally a surprise - though Iguess there were rumours. Kings Island and Canada's Wonderland had higher attendances than Cedar Point last year so I guess it's a good move. Will be interesting to see what they add to the parks in the next few years. I don't Intamin or B & M will be laying off staff in the next few years. -
A Day In The Life Of YOUR TPR Visit!
downunder replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
- Theme Parks, Donkeys etc - Everyday, weekdays only though. - First page, second if there is unread stuff on it - Mainly new rides, POV videos, trip reports of places I am interested in. - Always check new reports on the main page, only been on the chat room once or twice. - I really like the amateur videographer forum, it gives me the opportunity to experience a lot of coasters I will probably never get to ride. -
Will ever a minute go by when I don't think about girls?

If I don't count seeing bands in clubs, I would have seen U2 last friday at Sydney Olympic Stadium but they postponed. I think the Offspring last year or maybe Pearl Jam on the Riot Act Tour, probably Offspring was the last - were'nt as good the last time I saw them.

1. Australian and hate beer ( a heresy). 2. Not into video games (I prefer sport). 3. taught myself to read and write before I started school 4. Played pro sport in oz but I am not the jock type 5. I told people I read The Iliad by Homer because I thought Homer Simpson wrote it (I was joking, of course - I know it was really Bart).

I hope you told George Bush you found Osama. I can relate to not liking beer, I am male and Australian, and it is unheard of not like beer. Even worse I have played pro sport for teams sponsored by breweries, all that free beer, and I don't like it.

I think the Turtle Faeces coaster is the big project for 2007 at the Point that those clowns Tony and Tyler are on about, if I get there I'll definitely ride it, though I will have a shower right after. I have checked out Robb's Mitch Hawker list because I respect his opinion on coasters, except for Ride of Steel at SFNE I rated my list very differently to Robb's for the coasters we had both been on but what coasters a person likes is a very subjective thing, just like music and a lot of other things. In fact I actively encourage people to hate the coasters I like because that is less people in line. For the record you should avoid these coasters because I love them: Super Ride of Steel (SFNE), Millennium Force, Top Thrill Dragster, X, and Magnum.

Your Closet Coaster

Skull Mountain At SFGAdv. -
I rode it once in 2003, I didn't have a problem with roughness more the utter mediocrity of the ride, and the price of a ride caused excruciating pain to my hip pocket. It's another one of those rides that looks impressive but is so unexciting.

Have you ever gone to a park alone?
downunder replied to arlen23's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I go to parks alone all the time because no one else I know is into parks plus they can't afford to travel to the US with me anyway when I go to parks there. There are advantages though, I can get maximum number of rides and go through the park at breakneck speed. -
Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
downunder replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I've been lucky I've been to CP in 2003, 2004, and 2005 and I've gotten plenty of rides on TTD. I'm hoping for a giant dive machine or maybe a 4D but I wouldn't complain if it was another hyper but over 500 foot with heaps of elements. I would be disappointed if it was a flyer or a floorless, and I can't see why they would build coasters they already have at Geauga Lake - the place is doing it hard enough as it is. -
My last visit to SFGAdv on the the Friday before the Labour Day weekend last year, Kingda Ka had been running all week, and of course was not working the day I get there. The crowd was huge, it took 20 mins to get on Nitro even during ERT. I couldn't wait to get on the NJ Transit bus to get out of there and back to New York. It was so hot too, I rode Skull Mountain and Chiller most just to get out of the sun. Magic Mountain generally offers the next worst park experience for me. Hopefully Mr Shapiro will be improving the experience of visiting GAdv, and if he wants to charge $60 a visit all the rides better be up and running more than one train.

Most Improved Theme Park?...
downunder replied to Movieguy's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Warner Bros Movie World - for a park that is in a small market like Australia it has added some excellent themed rides, the most recent being the Intamin Rocket Superman Escape, and there is plenty more on the way. Even having Rabid One scaring the customers at the photo shop hasn't held the place back. I think Knott's has added some good rides and I like going to the place, I now put on my flame proof suit. -
Funniest Ride and Coaster Names
downunder replied to Movieguy's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I always thought calling a Vekoma SLC Mind Eraser was particularly apt. Magnum XL-200 - named after a latex product, those bunny hops are likely to render a man into a state of not needing this product. -
Freeway is long gone by all reports I have seen. The new VIP thing is $350 per person with a minimum of four in a group, but you don't have to wait for anything.

First Coaster of the Season
downunder replied to MSLSM's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I would say Superman Escape at Warner Bros Movie World if I ever get around to getting up there. Probably won't go to the US this year, my first coaster last year was Top Thrill Dragster and that wasn't until late August. -
Favorite Coaster at Cedar Point?
downunder replied to pkdcoaster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
1. Millennium Force - great but could have been much better (SROS at SFNE is my no. 1) 2. Top Thrill Dragster - one trick pony but what a trick, every ride is pure intensity. 3. Magnum - brutal but that bunny hop run is killer, your thighs will be blue but you'll have a smile on ya face. 4. Raptor - an invert with just about everything in terms of elements. 5. Gemini - love the first drop, lots of fun. 6. Wicked Twister - loses a bit compared to the TTD launch, but still fun. 7. Blue Streak - has so much charm and is a fun ride. 8. Mantis - I don't like stand ups but it's got a good course. The rest - my only comment is Mean Streak should be relocated to the bottom of lake Erie. -
Original Big Dipper at Luna Park Sydney - I was there the day it burned from a fire in another attraction. Demon - Wonderland Sydney, now at Vision Land in Alabama. Bush Beast and Beastie - park closed, crap woodies don't know if they are torn down yet. Thunderbolt - Dreamworld, torn down gone and long forgotten. Thrillseeker - Sea World Queensland, might be in storage. Big Dipper Luna Park - Arrow steel looper, relocated to Dreamworld as Cyclone Wildcat - closed after park fire in 1979, portable - whereabouts unknown. Space Mountain original version - I guess that kinda counts. Flashback - that almost counts.

Millenium Force POV
downunder replied to Tmcdllr's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Cedarpoint.com has a full quicktime POV video (as well as most of the other coasters) which they have improved a lot with the new version of the site, theold one was garbage. I found a good one on a site called coasterjoe.com.
