  1. It's a shame such a great coaster is being wasted in such a poor park, we can only hope Snyder isn't full of hot air when it came to improving park experience. The coasters at GAdv and MM always get me in but the park experience always makes me happy to leave. Thanks for the TR, it looks like the consensus on El Toro is a big thumbs up. We all might come over next year and try and get a ride on it.
  2. I was the last minute ring for TPR UK if there was a pull out, I would have brought a super soaker gun with me on tour, and I'm fast - there is no way he could outrun me. I would have considered it a service to help learn the joy of wetness in parks. I've been done a few times, and stuck with no change of clothes. Super soaker at hershey, that spinning thing at knotts and the perilous plunge to finish the job and the barges at SFMM and I had my passport in my pocket that day, spent all day trying to dry it out. I think he is right in being afraid.
  3. Don't I know it, the super soaker was my second coaster at Hersheypark. It was a real squishy day after that. I thought Dan's fear of water might have more pathological than practical.
  4. I want to know why he is so scared of water, I mean there goes any super soaker credits straight up.
  5. I just brought three of every theme park review dvd, and a ton of merchandise.
  6. I saw it last night mainly cause I felt like seeing a movie, it wasn't bad. They filmed some of it right outside the front door of my work building, it sucks going to the movies and seeing your work.
  7. Ther area around La Ronde is quite nice, and Parc Jean Drapeau on the island that La Ronde is on is a nice park. There is also the Olympic Stadium, I went on Jet Boat Ride in the rapids up stream from La Ronde, and there is this really great outlook over Montreal which is awesome at night but I can't remember where it was.
  8. My first woodie was the Big Dipper at Luna Park in Sydney, it was partially burnt down the night I was there because of a fire in the Ghost train beneath it which unfortunately killed 6 people.
  9. I liked Storm Runner but I prefer the speed intensity of Top Thrill Dragster and I also preferred the airtime of Superman Escape in Australia. Definitely in my top ten though. Hershey is such a nice park the staff are lovely, they were very hospitable and went the extra mile to make my visit a great one.
  10. I went with Thunder001 and mrsthor when it was raining but he worked like a charm and there we were front row first ride of the day for my first ever ride. And remember all you people who have ridden Superman do Mitch Hawker's poll this year, I know it will be right up there on my ballot.
  11. I've got my heart set on that mid west trip now I have an idea of what parks are being covered. I thought about doing Japan as well but I'll have to go there in the future for other things so I might as well do that later and Rabid Disney wants to go on Japan to do our Ozcoaster coverage thing, and I'll cover the mid west for ozcoaster if I manage to get a spot.
  12. It's rarely been down for whole days and generally is running all day except when it is raining. Given it is a smaller accelerator it is much more reliable than the bigger ones. Finally got to ride it this month and I was very impressed, the themed section is impressive, the launch has a real kick to it because it gets to 100 kph in a short distance, great ejector airtime towards the front, and it has a real whip at the back. I like it better than storm runner because of the cool themed part and the ejector air.
  13. I've been to La Ronde, it is in a lovely spot on that island. I thought the operations were a bit average on the day I was there - all one train, really slow dispatch times, additionally they wouldn't open the gates until a period of time after the people on the coaster got off (maybe that's law in that part of the land), which didn't help. I thought the coasters were mostly average - Batman clones (called vampire in this case) are generally a good ride, the intamin stand up was not that exciting, the big woodie Le Monstre was disappointing, all the others aren't worth mentioning. I would have to say the addition of Goliath is a big improvement, would have liked to have ridden that one. It was free because I had a six flags season pass so that helped.
  14. I'd do Mid West and Japan if they were close enough together in terms of dates, if I had to choose I'd do mid west. Like a million other people I hope I get in, might enter the lottery as well.
  15. I have been on both and I think the Florida one is better personally, the two rides are very different and are not clones. The Hollywood one seems to have a longer rollercoaster section, which goes through a dark section forwards then backwards, and the Orlando has a lot more theming and effects. Both are good rides and worth checking even if they are not mind blowing purely as rollercoasters.
  16. Japan would be tasty, that new 4D looks incredible and maybe just maybe SD2000 might have re-opened (can only hope). Plenty of coasters, might get past 200 after a trip like that. Great coming up from Australia, not much of a time difference, so no jet lag.
  17. There was an article in the local sydney paper last year about it's status last year, and they said they were in no hurry to get it up and running and that it was still a work in progress. They are small and have limited funding to get it finished sounds like the excuse, they did spend a lot money replacing their cable cars recently. There is a thread with the article on ozcoaster.net: http://ozcoaster.net/forums/Upload/showthread.php?tid=135&page=1 I know I'll be up to Katoomba if it ever does open, doubt it will be any good though.
  18. Damn, shame that last minute vacancy didn't come up - looks like you are all having so much fun. Robb and Elissa look like they will have to sleep for a week after this trip, I can't believe the effort they put in for everyone. Oh well, maybe the next one if I'm quick enough. I had to settle for a Superman Escape credit in QLD as an alternative trip, at least I met a couple of hot girls on the way back from Movie World.
  19. Yoshifan, that is the one at La Ronde, and I waited in line too. It was pretty irritating like most of the operations at the park. Even worse I hadn't done my homework and there was another credit - an indoor kiddie coaster at the back of the park I din't even know about. Worse still, I visited before they got a hyper.
  20. Like any self respecting credit whore I have attempted to get on kiddie coasters without being in possession of a kid. What are peoples experiences with kiddie coaster knockbacks and what scams have you employed to get that credit? I just tried sneaking past the lady at Pterandon Flyers at IOA but I got collared, shame - that one actually looked ok. At La Ronde I got told I couldn't ride in French and English, and I was just flat plain refused at Gemini Jr even though it was deserted, I begged but they didn't care.
  21. Only been on SFMM Deja Vu, a couple of SLC's and a Runaway Reptar. Definitely Deja Vu, I thought that was actually a good ride.
  22. ...Dear Elissa how I have longed to be a coaster enthusiast like you and Robb, but being leader of the free world and starting wars and all takes up all my free time. If you have a spot on your next TPR tour, I will come incognito and so will my army of secret service agents. I will disguise myself as Bono cause he is really cool, and tells me lots of jokes when he comes to the white house to visit me. Oh, just to be called a credit whore would be the greatest compliment, I want to be a whore, please help me. Lots of love - the Pres. Meanwhile, Robb spots some suspicious characters, is it the henchman of the evil genius's of Vekoma...
  23. I love Yosemite, I have done half dome, Yosemite Falls and Glacier Point. Half dome is tough, when I did it they were calling it the "death march", it does require a reasonable level of fitness - I do a lot of extreme fitness so I didn't have a problem but it is still quite draining. Coke never tasted so good after. I say go for it and if you absolutely can't make it all the way just turn around, there's plenty of nice scenery even before you get to half dome.
  24. Psychlone at 6FMM is a real spine snapper, Cyclone at SFNE was pretty rough. That is out of the ones I have been on. Out of the one's I haven't been based on POV'a and other people's opinions Son of Beast looks like it could send the Man of Steel into traction.
