Cedar Fair Maxx Passes
downunder replied to larrygator's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Knott's involved signing in at guest services and getting a paper ticket, guest services took a while to work out what to do. At least Elissa has taught them how to use the backspace key which should help. Here's hoping they ditch this system, it would be horrid if a whole heap of people showed up with other park season passes at the same time - imagine the wait. -

I haven't gone to any CF parks this year but I have been to multiple CF parks in the past - when you are using your season pass at another CF park do you still have to sign in at guest services and get a complimentary pass rather than just swiping your card like you can at any Six Flags park? It is a pain in the butt that whole signing in thing I hope they change that by next year if they haven't already. -
What are your TOP TEN COASTERS
downunder replied to ddaver177's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Since returning from the US this week my top 10 has changed: 1. Superman Ride of Steel (SFNE) 2. El Toro 3. Top Thrill Dragster 4. Millennium Force 5. X 6. Magnum XL-200 7. Nitro 8. Superman Escape (Movie World Australia) 9. Storm Runner 10. Raptor Tatsu came close to making, Kingda Ka - maybe not. -
I went to Montreal last year, I liked it, I liked Parc Jean Drapeau where La ronde was but La Ronde....the ride ops, I swear they were on valium, and I missed the dragon credit because I didn't know it existed - bummer, and Goliath didn't exist then. Montreal is a strange place but interesting to someone who lives as far away from there as I do.

If you had a couple of girls maybe Millie and Maggie (you can figure out what rides they are). A boy could be called Walt after the man who took this theme park stuff to the next level.

I just put in my deposit for the mid west trip, was thinking about Japan but decided to do the shorter trip - hope I get on. Let's see if the voyage is better than the mighty bull El Toro (which I loved). I just got back from the US 2 days ago and I am already planning the next jaunt. -
I used a Gold Q-bot when the lines for KK and ET were two hours, I found earlier in the day it was pretty much get on straight away and later in the day it was around 15-20 minutes til your time. You can "officially" show up five minutes before and ten minutes after your time but what I did on El Toro was they let me through 20 minutes before my time because they didn't seem to care (there is two checkpoints to get through for ET), so I ran around and went again, and a third time before my the booking expired. I never needed to do multiple bookings and you lose reception in the loading station for ET. I think that multiple bookings would be more necessary with the standard qbot but the Gold cuts the wait time so much that it was never necessary when I was there. All I can say is the Gold was worth every cent. I had problems with re-booking a ride straight after I had ridden it, and sometomes the next ride wouldn't book because it said I was on the other ride.

Also there is an all day unlimited Flash Pass which I believe is around $70 (they don't seem to mention it on the website but it was in the park guide you get when you walk in), otherwise there is the 4 rides for $15 one.

I agree on Universal, that was just what this ride op was saying - and the lemon chill award goes to... I got tons of rides on the day without really trying - it was just something to do before my flight that night, but it was a little hollow without X. What did I do (in order, all front row except Tatsu and Deja Vu): Tatsu (1.5 hour wait with breakdown), Ninja, Superman, Deja Vu, Psychlone, Deja Vu again (walk on for single rider line, 1.5 hours at least otherwise), Jet Stream, Gold Rusher, Riddler's Revenge, Tidal Wave, Batman, Scream, Collossus, Goliath, Viper. Sierra Falls and Log Jammer had lines I couldn't be bothered waiting in, Revolution was closed by the time I got to it, Goliath was closed when I went back to it, I heard Deja Vu broke down as well. As far as I am concerned SFMM has a long way to go in operations terms before they don't suck in my book, and the food is expensive and awful. -
X-Scream...
downunder replied to thrillrideseeker's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I went on X-scream and Insanity the other week, theyt weren't that great rides but the height made them scary and I hate heights real bad, so I wouldn't do them again. -

I was there on Sunday too (just got back to Sydney this morning), shame I didn't see you guys - so it was you guys breaking all the rides. Go to Goliath - broken, Revolution - broken, on top of X and the Sky Tower gathering dust. It was an OK day, just to kill time before I flew out sunday night. Love the Deja Vu single rider line - a walk on. Latest ride op rumour I heard on the day - Universal are buying SFMM and are going to build a citywalk. Everyone else seems convinced it will be levelled by developers. -
Who else has ridden Insanity?
downunder replied to a topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I rode it a couple of days ago, it was freaky I just didn't look down and held on for dear life and prayed it didn't break down mid ride. I did half dome at Yosemite National Park yesterday and that was far scarier though, I'm just happy I survived that one. -
TR Great Adventure Mon 28 Aug 06

I was referring to the Intamin hypers like Ride of Steel and Millenium Force which are more forceful in terms of negative G's and sensation of speed in my opinion, but this more by design than anything. They're all fun, and it all comes down to taste as to what you like personally. -

Went back on Wednesday with a friend, crowds were much worse than Monday, El Toro (which broke down a lot) and Kingda Ka were two hours, all other rides, even GASM and Rotting Timber had significant lines but they did manage to get two trains going for Superman Ultimate Flight. I noticed towards the end of the day they started making an effort at El Toro and the dispatches got quicker. Got the gold flash pass this time which turned out to be a wonderful investment, worth every cent. I even scammed three rides on El Toro with the one booking because they let us through early the first time, just ran back around. Now for the mountain tomorrow, wish they had the q-bot. -

I couldn't agree more, if you don't respect your customers they will vote with their feet. I'm deciding whether to head to six Flags New england (I've been before) tomorrow or more El Toro before I go To LA on Thursday. I've got admit I go away from Great Adventure and Magic Mountain feeling really p'd off, like, looking for a fight annoyed. Oh well, Magic Mountain gets it's chance to redeem itself on friday, I will consider it a miracle if X is running, and if it was running two trains - well I guess I'm dreaming. -
It was pouring when I got up on Monday as it had been on Sunday but I said stuff it and decided to go. I caught the first NJ Transit bus at 8am out to the park, it was raining and it wasn't looking good. The rain had stopped by the time I got to the park, and as it would turn out except for the occaisional spot, it held out all day. Deceided not to get a flash pass as the cowds looked like they would be light. I knew Kingda Ka and El Toro wouldn't open when the park opened at 10 even though I saw them testing so I headed for Superma Ultimate Flight before the crowds, and waqlked on for the front row, other than the dive loop pretty tame which is par for the course for a a flyer, it was only running one train. Went over to Kingda Ka to see what was happening hung around for a while but it wasn't going to open soon so I went over to El Toro, there was long line because they hadn't opened the queue, which happened at 11am. When they did it took about half an hour to get on. What can I say I have a new number two coaster. The ejector air, first drop and laterals on this coaster are awesome especially at the back. Dispatch times were absolutely pathetic though even with two train op, had a re-ride and then headed over to Kingda Ka which started launching with passengers around midday. Continents move faster than the line for Kingda Ka, dispatch times were 5-10 minutes conservatively. It was an 1hr 15 mins until I was finally on, which I guess is better than the waits some people have experienced. This ride absolutely blows, I rode fourth row and it was like Top Thrill Dragster in an earthquake, the shakes really killed the speed sensation, no air on the hill either which I believe is more to slow the train down for breaking rather than anything else. At least I have the credit now, wasn't keen to ride again even though I hear the front is much better than the rest of the train. Went back to El Toro for another ride, 2nd back row - totally awesome. After lunch rode El Toro again, then Medusa which is ok, and the over to Nitro, rode front row and it was a great ride even though it doesn't have the force of the inatamins it's still a fun ride with the open feeling in the train, rode it again and then walked onto Skull Mountain, then another front row ride on Nitro, waits for Ntro were around 15 minutes. Went back to El Toro which was dispatching at pathetic intervals decided not to wait any longer and went and caught the 7pm NJ Transit bus back to Manhattan. On the whole carp operations at ET and KK, at Nitro they really made an effort. The park sucks but the coasters are good. No great new revelation there. The crowds grew considerably during the day really pushing the wait times out on KK and ET but I was happy I got to ride KK and ET and that was good enough for me.

Good to hear from another Aussie, Sundays out of summer are usually not too bad from my experience. Deja Vu is the standard boomerang layout but it is much bigger and the drop is vertical which is quite exciting, on top of being inverted. I will be at Magic Mountain next Friday (leaving for the US tomorrow), so I will be sure to post a report, there might even be a miracle and X is open.

I would recommend going to the website for Great Adventure there is plenty of info there, I even downloaded the form and I will have it filled out before I get to the park to save wasting time.
-
I'll be there on monday, can't wait to ride El Toro myself, if I can get the Kingda Ka credit which eluded me last year I will be very happy but I think I will ride Batman side of Chiller in the TPR video.
-
Is Kingda Ka and El Toro bad on weekdays, I was going to go on Monday and maybe tuesday or wednesday if I want to do more riding. A gold Q-bot might be a good investment because it will give me more time to do things in new york rather than having to go back to the park and frankly, I have always been glad to leave on previous visits to great adventure.

I am in LA next thursday, I am staying at the Hacienda which is not bad and is right near the airport. If you want to stay in Anaheim - Days Inn are quite cheap. Holiday Inn is also ok, I would go straight to the hotel site to get the best price.

Hey Krubie, I am from Australia and I will be in New york on Sat 26th, I'm planning on going to Six Flags New England on the 27th and Six Flags Great Adventure on the 28th. PM if you've got any questions or if you are going to be around at the same time and you want to meet up. I also know Thunder001 as well, went to movieworld with him not long ago.
