Thanks, I'll be at Great Adventure on Monday 28th, so I am really tossing up whether to get a gold Q-bot or not, knowing my luck Kingda Ka and El Toro will be down all day. Seeing I am coming from Australia I want to maximum rides on all the best coasters.

What is the story with X, why isn't it working - because Six Flags don't give a damn about maintenance or is there a real problem? I'll be at MM on Fri Sept 1st, so fingers crossed.

Clerks II Trailer. Dante and Randal are back!
downunder replied to robbalvey's topic in Random, Random, Random
I watched Clerks 2 last night and I really liked it, the donkey stuff was a bit off though, even if it was funny - I guess he had to top the accidental necrophilia of the first film. I wish the movie had gone longer. -
What Is People's Favourite Horror Film?
downunder replied to Rockinryan30's topic in Random, Random, Random
When assessing horror movies I rate them on how much they traumatise me, which means the Exorcist is number 1, it was actually a quality film too. Honorable mentions: Halloween, Romero's Dead Series, and first two Aliens. -
Blues Brothers? If I am right. "They're dead, and you want to teach them tricks!"

I went to Mythos on a quiet day in September 2004 and had no problem walking up, nice view over the lake from the window seats.

I'm flying from Sydney to New York to mainly ride El Toro (and hang out in New York and go up to SFNE), that's like 12,000 miles or something.

Does Anyone Feel This Way (Six Flags)
downunder replied to adc9787's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The SF parks I have been to have been bad places with great coasters (excluding La Ronde that didn't even have the coaster in 2005), I feel compelled to go because of the coasters even if the park experience can be appalling at times, SFNE was nice though. I would like to see them get out of trouble, they have stated they want to improve customer service so lets hope they succeed on that front, but that massive debt and the associated servicing costs is going to take a lot of work to get into reasonable shape. I have a sentimental attachment to six flags, Magic Mountain was the first US park I ever went to (I saw it in Encino Man and had to go), in fact, it was what I did on my first full day on mainland USA. -
Aussie Back from the Hack
downunder replied to rabid disney's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
If that hacker was in Oz I'd do a Jay and Silent Bob on him. Has anyone else been a victim of the Turkish Hacker? Anyway, glad to see people are back on the boards. -
I went on the zipper at Luna Park Sydney when I was barely tall enough for the height limit, I got the living crap smashed out of me, it was an ordeal. It was more fun when I was bigger.

I go on tours (other tours not TPR) based on the itinerary first - I want to see and do things. I don't make any assumptions or have any expectations about the kind of people on the tour, and if you meet cool people then that's a bonus. If I wanted to just meet people I have no problem doing that at home rather than on the other side of the world. As long as you go in with a live and let live attitude on tours there shouldn't be a problem. If I get to go on any of the TPR tours it will be primarily because I want to go to the parks and being a foreigner it makes it a lot easier and cheaper to get around on a tour than hiring a car or risking my life on greyhounds. I am reasonably confident that a TPR tour will be a lot of fun too. Just my 2 cents.

Steel Dragon 2000 is open!
downunder replied to thomas2's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I actually know one person in Sydney who has ridden it and they rated it highly and they have been on most of the other significant hypers like SROS, MF, Nitro, Magnum (and Expedition GeForce in Oct this year). To me it looks like Magnum on steroids, and I have to admit I like Magnum's brutality, one day they'll be scarping me off the top of one of Magnum's tunnels after I've been ejected completely. -
Some questions about SFGadv....
downunder replied to canada's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
1. Depends on what day, saturday, sunday - defintely not, other days -probably, go to the parks website and work out what you want to ride, it's best to have a strategy. 2.Middle of the week is best, I belive AAA even has discounts on Wednesdays under the show your card and save program. 3. Qbot definitely makes a difference, the Superman Flyer has horrible lines even on quiet days, and Kingda Ka and El Toro can be very bad. 4. Thrill rides, the park has great coasters check Nitro, El Toro, Kingda Ka, The Chiller (may not be open), Medusa to name a few. Haven't really tried the flats but they don't have many. 6. Medusa definitely front, haven't ridden KK yet but I hear front, and El Toro back, Chiller - I liked the front. Hope you have a great time, I'll be there on the 28th, can't wait to ride El Toro. -
Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

I've never counted the railroad as a credit, just the bloody thing that gets in between me and Millenium Force now and then. Never even been on it, if I go to CP next year, it will be a good for getting shots of Maverick or whatever it will be called. -
Theme Park Review is becoming a victim of it's own popularity, Rabid One at Ozcoaster was telling me the other day people are always coming up to him at Movie world when he's working and wanting to talk to him about Ozcoaster. It must be times 1000 that treatment for Robb and Elissa. I was really impressed with the effort and attention to detail they put into the UK trip, I think they could do a Vekoma coaster tour and it would be fun. I've been to Japan to compete in sport a couple of times but I have never looked around let alone go to a themepark, so I will consider that a good opportunity. Oh yeah, I should ask a stupid question - can they have a tour in between Midwest and Japan so I can keep busy in between tours?

Tony and Tyler are the biggest teasers, even if they don't announce soon it should become obvious what it is this month considering the rate the construction is going at. I'm thinking a wingwalker but I guess we'll have to see, the point is always full of surprises. The CP & LE Railroad must be packed with enthusiasts trying to sneak a peek. -
Goliath at La Ronde
downunder replied to downunder's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That's what I hate about B & M's is they are floaty (it's still fun but I prefer ejector) rather than ejector could you imagine an Intamin with the same course, it would be ejector air heaven. -
Goliath at La Ronde
downunder replied to downunder's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Now I am really kicking myself I went to Montreal last year. This one hasn't been getting the mentions the other Goliath has, but Montreal is probably a bit out of the way for most people on this site, nice city and I liked Parc Jean Drapeau where La Ronde is. -
Saw a POV of Goliath (La Ronde) on youtube, it looks great, but has anyone ridden it and if so what is it like? All those camelbacks look insane.

Isn't it just like coaster people, my next US tour is in 3 and a bit weeks off (c'mon 26th August), and I'm already thinking about next year. I was just talking to Rabid One about Japan. Lou, you English girls - so friendly, even the unfriendly ones get friendly after a while. I'm on a 2 week trek america camping tour in sept, that's like being on big brother without the cameras - probably be me and 12 English girls, I know there's definitely at least one.

Thanks for the TR, I am going there on 27 Aug, can't wait - I live 12,000 miles from SFNE and this will be the third year in a row I have visited. It is such a nice park, and Ride of Steel I could ride that for a whole week without getting off.
