TGE - SLC 06 (SFAWs)
downunder replied to Canobie Fan's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I wonder which park will draw the short straw for Astroworld's Togo Death Machine (if they don't scrap it). People in the upstate new york / new england area are going to all have cauliflower ears from all the SLC's. Are you allowed to wear a crash helmet on rides? I'm heading up north to Warner Bros Movie World this weekend for my SLC punishment. -
Best coaster ride when raining
downunder replied to verticalzero's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I rode Millenium Force 12 times straight in the pouring rain in late August, it kills, why - because there was no line. I was hoping Mean Streak would be better in the rain but it wasn't. Raptor and Magnum were good in the rain. Ther best part of torrential rain was that the next day (wed 8/31) the park was deserted even if though the weather is good. -
I thought Skull Mountain at Great Adventure was surprisingly fun, the first drop was really good towards the front. I really like X and I am not afraid to admit it. I think Medusa at Great Adventure is over rated, nothing special. I think Silver Bullet at Knott's is a bit under rated, I thought it was a lot of fun, even if it wasn't raptor or montu.

Post any injuries that landed you in a hospital!
downunder replied to Dainty Aqua's topic in Random, Random, Random
Hit by car: compound fracture right tibia and fibula (snapped both lower bones in two), broken shoulder requiring two operation to re-construct, wired up for 2.5 months. Two weeks in hospital, 3 months with my leg in a cast. Karate Fight: middle toe right foot sliced to the bone by sharp toe nails, toe almost broken off by end of fight. One night in hospital to repair. Have had heaps of other breaks and injuries but they did not require hospitalisation. -
Hasn't Luna Park in St Kilda got coasters, probably on par with our Luna Park in Sydney with our mighty mouse - I tried to imagine the bunny hops were the camelbacks on ride of steel, it didn't work. Another tip on Magic Mountain (I was there in september, day after the TPR do - bummer), the single rider line on Deja Vu will save you a lot of time. Good luck - I hope X is up, it was vallied the day I was there.

I thought that kind of woman only existed in men's imaginations. Oh yeah, Elissa, make mine a pumpkin pie.

thanks, I'll try again - it was funny because every other download worked.

P. Diddy or whatever he is called now - sucks all ass, what a prentious little clown. J-Lo - once a semi credible actress, now a total waste of time. Tommy Lee - he hits women, enough said. Kobe Bryant - he killed a franchise, and we'll assume innocent until proven guilty on the rest. Nick Lachey - you've got the hottest woman in the world and you're still complaining. Crocodile Hunter - crikey, why don't you become a New Zealander, stop embarassing us Aussies. Elton John - what a horrible little garden gnome.

Love your videos and download them all the time, but when I try downloading the Avalanche POV from Special People's Forum all I get is an empty zip file? I have tried it several times on different days with the same result, and I have not had a problem with any other downloads. It does say the the file size is 124 bytes on the download box. Would love to see the Avalanche video, and rue my paltry wood coaster count.

I'm more into coasters than flats so I am a bit underwhelmed but I haven't been on one so maybe I will be pleasantly surprised. At least it isn't an upcharge like the one at Knott's. -
209 lbs (95kg), 6ft 3in, 8% body fat (I have scales that measure body fat).

six foot three, or 188 cm for the metrically minded.

NEWS?:Getting drunk part of Australian identity, study finds
downunder replied to memphish's topic in Random, Random, Random
Isn't it the same in the good ol' U S of A? I'm Australian and I don't even drink - the pubs and clubs here just keep boring people off the streets. There is a lot of "instant idiot, just add beer" types around these parts. -
What is the best floorless?
downunder replied to ddaver177's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I have only been on 4 Floorless coasters and I would rate them as follows: 1. Kraken (SWO) 2. Medusa (SFGAdv) 3. Scream (SFMM) 4. Batman: Dark Knight (SFNE) I think Dominator, Superman Krypton Coaster, and Medusa at Six Flags Marine World would probably supplant the ones in my list above if I had ridden them. As far as floorless coasters go I am non-plussed, if not riding in the front they are just glorified loopers. In the front, they are a lot better. -
Wild CP rumor.
downunder replied to FlyingScooter's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Chairman Dick Kinzel has stated he wants to top Dragster before he retires in 2007. I think there will be no coasters in 2006, and a huge coaster on 2007 which will employ an elevator rather than a conventional lift hill, to minimise the coasters footprint. This would seem logical as launches are proving to problematic over 400 feet, and the footprint for a 500 foot plus lift hill would be huge. I hope they do get a coaster like that but I hope they make it a quality coaster like SFNE's ride of steel rather then one big thrill. -
Dreamworld's "Unsafe" Ride
downunder replied to kdwil0's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
kdwil0, I would recommend you check out ozcoaster.net (if you don't already) as there are quite a few people on the boards there who know a fair bit about the gold coast parks and could probably enlighten us both about these issues. -

I was Six Flags Over Georgia, I haven't been there but everyone I know who has been there (three people) likes it. -
Best and Worst Organised Queues
downunder posted a topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The worst: Nitro - people don't seem to understand left side of the stairs for the front and right for all other rows, surely they could put up a rail or an electrified fence. Magnum - when they don't have someone controlling entry at the turnstile, it's just pandemonium but it does make it easier because the people for the front cover up the 3rd row aka ejector seat. The best: Riddlers Revenge - I like it, as soon as you get through the turnsile all the rows are railed off which keeps it nice and organised. -

If I was serious business person owning it: * make it easier to get there, have some strong transport options from Cleveland (like a bus, other than greyhound), kind of like jump on a plane and get to the point. *I would put signs up pointing to the rides etc, like Magic Mountain. *Make it the best kids park on the planet, as well as the best amusement park - for every major coaster put in a kiddie version, for example. *Have a side show alley with some cool dark rides, fun ones, not necessarly Disney standard. *Put some totally demented wild mouse ride in the disaster transport building. *fix the bottle necks getting to the point by car like the causeway. If I was an enthusiast owning it: *instal as close as possible to an exact copy of Ride of steel (SFNE) *put in the best woodie the world has ever seen *instal a version of X that actually works all the time *an extreme water ride like Perilous Plunge *add a record breaking invert, floorless or otherwise *add to Dragster, more air for the Force, and make Wicked Twister full circuit with heaps of extra elements *relocate Mean Streak to the bottom of lake erie.
