News: Say goodbye to Mr. Six!
Reon replied to ScOtT k's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Even more than the Burger King? *destroys Snyder* First you try to take away SFFT, and now Mr Six? -
I know summer is half a year away, but I dont really care... First off a question for the proposed end-of-school steel drum band road trip: Is that steel drum band in front of Disneyland's POTC still there? A couple of the band members are trying to convince our director to get us a gig there if we can. I mean, its combining steel drums with rollercoasters. Thats like the deffinition of ownage in itself.. Secondly, for a more...personal roadtrip. Coming from Cincinnati and going to CP, GL, and DP; what parks should/can I hit on the way to them? Also, would it be cheaper to buy a season pass from CP/GL with the add on fee, or to get one from DP? Also, back on routes, how far from DP are Hershey Park and SFGAdv?

Well, its that time of year again. When the Walnut Hills steel drum band announces the roadtrip for the year. This time, were going straight to SFOG, then to Orlando for a few days, and finally to BGT (all while doing various gigs of course.) No details are final yet, but we plan on leaving around memorial day. This thread is more like a notice for incase anyone wants to meet up with us on one of the days, so stay tuned for details of dates and such.... Jared"Best. School. Function. EVER!" Becker

Making your own amusement park!
Reon replied to Supermilk's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Im not gonna go into theming, cuz I dont do that till my plans are confirmed Also, keep in mind this is a thrill park flats: -Chaos -Space shot complex -Enterprise/gravitron -Himilaya -Round up -Trebant -Some random Highly themed dark ride -One of those shooting rides, possibly in boat like at SDC -Bench: the ride -Bumper cars -Spider/monster -Tilt a whirl -Disc-O -Delerium or something of that nature -Donkey Ride? -Splash boats (log flume-ish thing with steep double-drop) coasters: -Intamin Hyper/giga (layout will be a combo of EGF and Goliath WW) -Intamin rocket with an actual layout -wooden airtime machine (think Balder) -Wooden twister -Dueling inverts (like an uber DD) -Im tempted to say this would be a floorless or flyer, but i havent been on either so i dont know... -
Cedar Points Coasters
Reon replied to pgathriller's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
so your saying Millenium Force isnt on your A-list? Guess I have much lower standards than you. Oh well, havent been on Goliath (WW) or EGF, so I suppose you have a point. Anyway, I havent been to that many parks (PKI, CP, HP, SFKK, SFFT, SDC, IOA, Mt. Olympus and maybe a few I'm forgetting), but Cedar Point has the best steel coasters I have ever ridden (well, aside from Vortex and StormRunner)....Theyre woodies can use some work, though I love Blue Streak. Just my 2 cents... -
for pki alone.... painful: SoB, though i HIGHLY advise against riding in the back seat of the frontwards racer... fun: Vortex. No contest. As i've claimed many times before, atleast 2 pops of good air regaurdless of where you sit. not to mention the tremendous floater air on the first drop... in general painful: SoB or Meanstreak fun: Vortex or M-Force. StormRunner is pretty nice aswell. As for the wood candidate, Cyclops at Mt. Olympus. If you ride backseat, your harldy ever actually on the seat. Plus ive been known to swich seats in midair from all the floater air i get off the first drop...

Boomerang Or Giant Inverted Boomerang?
Reon replied to pgathriller's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Ive yet to ride a GIB, so my vote goes to Invertigos...Then again, Im baseing this off just riding Sidewinder (HP) and Face//Off (PKI) so take this as you will... -
Post pictures of your model/Knex coasters
Reon replied to Reon's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yeah...thats why my rides are so lame, though I like how the helix turned out...Then again, I dont wanna r ead instructions so I can make my creations unique. BTW, has anyone bought the other Knex Amusement park sets? I noticed in the paper lately that theirs now a pirate ship and ferris wheel model. Also, I have bothe the SS and RR models, but I havent touched my SS since I got it for my birthday... -

Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread
Reon replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
"Lights, camera, action – the ride experience recreates the six scenes of the climatic final chase sequence of the film: Scene One Race through parking garage Scene Two Fly down subway stairs Scene Three Dodge police cars Scene Four Screech to a halt and narrowly avoid gunfire from a helicopter Scene Five Chase through sewer tunnel Scene Six Plunge through a billboard and into an LA aqueduct" If I remember correctly, the police chase came before the stairs...Possible variation? Or just an uber-typo Anyway, I dont see what's wrong with building more. Sure, they arent the most exiting ride, but considering their designed for familys...They have some good spots in them when the theming works. Hell, I've gotten random pops of air occasionally....Its a nice addition that is a good candidate to be cloned... Jared"who still thinks its Intamin because of the track style" Becker -
I figured we might as well add this to our off-season games and activities...Let me start off with my newest Knex creation: Helix of doom! Its basically a figure-8 with some nice hills, and an overbank in the middle of the helix. Unfortunately, I cant upload directly from my computer, so you'll have to suffer for links... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v467/Reon_Skyridge/Rollercoasters/Knex%20coasters/Helix%20of%20Doom/IMG_0006.jpg -Overview. Cant you smell the airtime? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v467/Reon_Skyridge/Rollercoasters/Knex%20coasters/Helix%20of%20Doom/IMG_0007.jpg -Close up of the overbank. Probbably the coolest part of the ride. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v467/Reon_Skyridge/Rollercoasters/Knex%20coasters/Helix%20of%20Doom/213e81be.jpg -Overhead shot of the helix. Looks like a vertical loop, no? http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v467/Reon_Skyridge/Rollercoasters/Knex%20coasters/Helix%20of%20Doom/735f4c98.jpg -Some variation of this section will be in Project Wildcat (the coaster I'm building in my backyard.) The big drop goes down the hill, and the curve through a wooded section near the fence... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v467/Reon_Skyridge/Rollercoasters/Knex%20coasters/Helix%20of%20Doom/b55a3d6c.jpg -The tamer section of the helix... also, just for the heck of it... http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v467/Reon_Skyridge/Rollercoasters/Knex%20coasters/41fbd26f.jpg -The train for my next project has arrived on site. So, yeah. Post your models and stuff...Reon out.

Reon replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Must...kill...marching band Grr...I live close enough that I can go to BB, but i have a crapload of competitions toward the end of October. If it was this saturday, I could go, but otherwise... Still, cant wait for the show to air -

Which Coaster Gives The Best AIRTIME???
Reon replied to Crazy4Coasters!'s topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I was waiting for someone to mention that . Best air on a steely (floater): Vortex (PKI) Best air on a steely (Ejector): Millienium Force. TTD has a nice pop aswell, but I only felt it during half of my rides. Gemini is pretty nice too, if you count it as steel... Casualties (steel): King Cobra. I never knew stand up coasters could have so much air(I mean, aside from Vortex (apparently PKI knows how to do steel airtime right)) Seriously...there was air: *right before the helix (which you float into) *the hill into the trick-track *the bunnys at the end... Best air on a woodie (floater): Cyclops, no contest. Not only does the last drop pull a number, the first one floats (me atleast) over the seat divider.... Best air on a woodie (ejector): I'll have to get back to this one later...Its a close tie between Cyclops, HP Wildcat, and Blue Streak... Casualties (wood): Beast, and the offspring FOR NOT HAVING ANY AIR AT ALL!!! I mean, its a hyper, and a woodie...its basically built for airtime if those 2 parts worked like they should.... Expedition GeForce in RCT3 Wild!
Reon replied to c0sterfreek's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Buy them. Soaked brings alot of good new rides like Kaos, Disc-O, Half pipe coaster, Stormrunner (looping accelorator coaster) Water coaster...this list goes on forever...Not to mention all the water slide options....I think I need a new comp though, cuz I'm running out of space, and cant find anything I can delete -
The way I see it, this thing will break one of PKI's record's either way, since we hold longest (Beast) and tallest (Son of Bitch) right now. Personnaly, I couldn't care less if they both get broken Also, I may/may not be able to visit SFGA next year. My steel drum band in school is planning our 2nd annual roadtrip, and one of this routes includes a trip to DP and SFGA. I dont know what the other routes offer otherwise, but I'm rooting for that one^^. Jared"going to SFGA and DP in early June?"Becker

Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread
Reon replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^amen to that. One empty day I decided to ride all the coasters, and that was the only one I didnt go on dude to it's line...(yeah, I even did Top Bill/Little Cat) As for the whole deal with Avatar, we cant say if it's good or bad till we see the layout now can we? Im willing to bet the drop ride will be some sort of frog hopper, or a 40-50' drop ride.... -
Expedition GeForce in RCT3 Wild!
Reon replied to c0sterfreek's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
RCT3 has just gone in the right direction in general. Lets look at a few key aspects... *The whole POV concept REALLY made this game worth playing... * All the different rides and coasters, including some great real designs like StormRunner, and now EG:F *It's not owned by Paramount or SF The only thing that could make it better would be including designs for Cyclops, VorteX(PKI), and a redone version of Walabi's Goliath...and maybe Balder too ^^
