NEWS: Moto Coaster for Särkänniemi in 2010
Moose replied to Tömmioh's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The google translation (quoted below) makes it seem like the park announced this. Tommi, is this the case? -
Can't say I cried, but it did have some moving moments. I love Kurt's dad. I was shocked by what we learned about Sue. Puck is so much hotter than Finn.

No, I hadn't seen it. It looks like a great little fun filled coaster. I'll definately have to head out there to ride it. -

Wow they had chains up at one point? When we finally went and rode SpinSpyder (I think about the time you waited for the supersplash) they decided to take down those chains to allow for easier linejumping. -

Mitch Hawker's Coaster Poll 2009!
Moose replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I just started making a spreadsheet the other day to help me make my list (Ned would be so proud). I guess I have to get cracking at it. Balder is also my new number 1 this year. -

I could have sworn that something about the milling process caused something (the air?) to become extremely flammable, which would explain all of the no smoking signs. That lunch looks very tasty. EDIT: Found it. From wikipedia: Flour dust suspended in air is explosive. In medieval flour mills, candles, lamps, or other sources of fire were forbidden. Some devastating and fatal explosions have occurred at flour mills. -
I agree, that is a very good compliment. The cake came out looking great, congratulations!

Eric's Brochure Kingdom: The Return!
Moose replied to live2tell75's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Thanks for posting these! Seeing the progression of the park is great. One thing I noticed, women's bathing suits have gotten more revealing, while men's have become less. In some cases this a good thing, in others its very very bad. -

Overloading wacky worms make them all the more wacky. Divv you managed to get me screaming on two out of three coasters... impressive. -
Holiday World (HW) Discussion Thread
Moose replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I noticed (on RCDB) that The Voyage currently has three trains. Will only having two trains negatively impact the capacity? (IE did HW ever run all three, if they did, was stacking a problem?) -

I know that this will take more work for the overlord, but has any thought been given to doing a little park history blurb, or separating the coasters/rides into existing/defunct categories? Perhaps the overlord needs a minion or two? -
Bump. Hope the cake decorating went off without a hitch!

Wow, you went to the park that many times just to get good looking photos? That is dedication. It worked though, the pictures were all beautiful. -

Wow. THat looks absolutely amazing. Great work! -
I hope you got to eat some authentic Portuguese food, as this Portugee would love to see how the Americanized version compares. It looks absolutely beautiful there.

Splashtacular's website had an additional picture of the 360 Rush. Edit: I just noticed the support structure is entirely different in the two renderings. No matter how the two people are realeased, there is always a way to change your speed on a bodyslide. Not to mention the fact that as you get towards the center, you could easily crash into each other or on top of eachother in the "shallow braking pool." The other concept looks great! I think it would work as either a tube slide (as they've suggested) or a matt type slide. The slide layout will make the racing aspect more dynamic since you won't know who's in the lead till the end.

Blimey. Not sure how I f@#$ed the math that badly. If that is the wheel chair spot (and not a typo) it still is sort of odd that they wouldnt provide a "super soaker" for that spot as well. -

Does anyone know of a reason for there only to be 7 "Super Soakers" per raft when they carry 8 passengers? Does one person just sit there? -
THanks for the tips on making fondant. I've always wanted to work with it but never liked the taste, I'll have to try this!

THanks for sharing this great find. Watch the heads of the riders. It looks like they are experiencing some incredible forces at the bottoms of the loops. All of their heads move forward and down. I guess we should all be glad that the clothoid loop is now used on coasters. According to a Wikepedia Article, the first vertical loop on a coaster was in 1850, which predates this ride by quite a bit. As with all wikipedia articles, there usually some question on the validity since it seems that the coaster in this video does not seem to be mentioned.

Hanno, Thank you so much for braving the cold sleet? and wind to get these absolutely amazing photos. -
THe flower looks great after you painted it. I love watching cake decorating shows on TV but still struggle to even frost a cake without it looking like it was a 1st grade class project, though I am getting better. I really looking forward to seeing your work, thus far it's impressive.

^Wow, the first and last recipes sound like they just wouldn't work! I must try them.
