2014 TPR Tour Questionnaire is out!
supertrooper replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Judging by your trip report, it seems like you have the ability to make everyone around you have an even better time (even with a flu). I'm looking forward to possibly meeting you next summer and experiencing your enthusiasm. -

Favorite Coaster at Cedar Point?
supertrooper replied to pkdcoaster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Maverick. I took my bf to Cedar Point a couple of weeks ago...it was his first time and he's not an enthusiast but enjoys coasters. He was underwhelmed by most of the coasters at the park, saying they were fun but typical. However, on the brake run for Maverick, I looked over at him and he said "That was a f*##ing coaster!" He said he had never been intimidated by rides before, but that one took him by surprise because it did a little bit of everything. I agreed. I also kept the launch a secret from him and instructed him to ride with his body pressed against the restraints and his head sticking out, which may have increased his enjoyment of the ride slightly. -
What Rides Scares the Crud Out Of You?
supertrooper replied to EuroTre's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The only ride I can think of that I've felt abut freaked out on was Thunder and Lightning (I think that's what they were called) at Lake Compounce...the giant swings. And after reading a few of the comments it seems as though I'm not the only one. I just kept imagining my restraint coming undone and me either flying across the park or straight down into the pavement. I was slightly scared. -

^^I'm going on Monday as well, but I've already purchased my Fast Lane Plus passes, so I'm not concerned about crowds. -

During the announcement, he said that the train wouldn't hit it's top speed until the second half of the ride (because of how it sits in a valley), so I'm hoping the last few inversions and turns are pretty forceful. Dammit...chickenbowl beat me by seconds. -

Yes...we are apparently. If others can say that they think it is so cool, I can surely say why I think that it isn't. A photo of the station layout was just posted at kicentral, with loading on one side of the train. Kinda hard to climb over the track to board the other side of a wingrider. That explains the unrefined logo...it was done quickly to go with the dummy website. -

Thank you. I'm a professional graphic designer and it's disheartening to hear people say how cool they think the logo is. If I were to show that to my art director, he'd laugh and tell me that it looks great for a softball team jersey. It's rushed and amateurish. It's nothing more than a few lines, copy and paste behind, add stroke, repeat. -

The silver comb with silver hair would make no sense for a Bat themed coaster...but makes perfect sense for Banshee. "In some accounts she is seen combing her hair as she laments. She is heard more often than seen, wailing as she approaches the abode in the late evening or early morning, sometimes perching on the windowsill two to three hours or even days before a death. As she moves off into the darkness witnesses describe a fluttering sound, such as the sound made by birds flying at night. Hence, the mistaken belief that banshees manifest as birds such as the crow." -

I guess that puts to rest any doubt that it will be called Banshee. -
I went to see Les Mis in London's West End this past Monday. Although the show was very good, I was a bit disappointed by Jean Valjean and Eponine's performances. Valjean was played by the understudy and I don't think his voice was powerful enough for the part. When he sang high notes, his voice completely changed (not as much volume and a bit nasal). I saw a high school production of the show last month, and I think the 17 year old playing Valjean in that was actually better. And Danielle Hope plays Eponine as kind of angry and frantic, where I see her as more frustrated and sad. It was the first time that I could see why Marius wasn't really interested in her...she seemed crazy. And I really don't like the way she delivers her "I've only been pre-ten-ding" part in On My Own. Other than that, Fantine, Javert, Marius and the rest of the characters were excellent and the sets were amazing.

Top Roller Coaster Myths & Rumors!
supertrooper replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I have to correct at least one person every year for professing that The Bat was removed because it either killed someone or broke their necks. Especially now that I live in Cincinnati, I know people who have a friend who has an uncle that dated a girl that had her neck removed after riding The Bat. Also, water moccasins invaded the boats on the log flumes at Kings Island and the water around The Beast, which is why they drained the pond near The Beast's station. That one may be true. -
**Just a friendly reminder**

Now everyone on that trip is wondering if was them. I think I remembered to wear it that day...I hope at least. -
I rode it twice (once the year it opened and once the year after). I credit it with starting my addiction/love of coasters. Before then, I was fascinated by them, but afraid to ride anything larger than the Scooby Doo (now Woodstock Express). My best friend at the time begged me to ride it, and finally I gave in. I'm glad I did. I honestly don't remember too much about it since I was only in 4th grade, but it must have been fun enough for me to want to ride more.

I was planning on going on one of the TPR trips this coming summer. I think I'll just continue saving for Scandinavia instead.
